I tried and failed

Well I tried to learn but I just hit too many dead ends. I am not good with math. I was trying to make a game where the player's weapon was like a magic sphere. I was thinking about Magician lord by Neo Geo and a Metal Gear game. But I just couldn't figure out how to do the things I wanted. I look forward to playing what other talented creators release though.

I need to check how Magician Lord do that but for your game, the magic sphere only fired like a projectile right?

If you post your code and post sprites of how you want it to look you'll have a higher chance of someone helping you out with the mechanics and then when that's done we can work on the next problem when it comes.

I personally really like helping other members here, sometimes even in a very hands on direct way but I don't like to waste my time because I don't have much of it, show us something to work with and we'll all work on it together with you if you have the right attitude.

Some tips, don't over complicate it and actually show us sprites and code (if any) in your explanations.

---start simple.---

Sure Openbor can be a pain in the a* for people who are crappy with maths (I DEFINITELY know it)
It can make you slow, make you take years to make something that "normal" people make in few weeks..
And skilled in maths logic will make in few days.
Yes, to me it litterally took several YEARS, some very precious time you don't want to put in coding.
Thinking "coding is not for me"

But the truth is you should try simple stuff.
Don't do the mistake I did more than 10 years ago now... (Almost leaving my IRL life and friends to try to freaking understand code/scipt)

We have a great community.
Many people are skilled here, but thay cannot help you at every step / problem you encounter.
Particularly when you work on advanced/unusual mechanics requiring scripts... (my nightmare)
Giving the feeling the project progresses too slowly and you finish waiting all the day for people to be available to help you.

So.

Go simple.

Make a small simple demo (without the complex mechanics)
With some chance, by asking here, people will like your project and help you.

Good luck.
I know it's not easy to have tons of ideas and content ready to add in a game and feeling almost "DISABLED" (in my case) because you cannot make these stuffs even when you try as hard as you can.

I have to admit I also prefer to play what skilled creators make here. Because It least it work, it exists, and it's not JUST ideas. ^^;

OpenBOR Template 1.0

Is a template that could help you since it does more or less what you wanting to do.
Play it, use CMT to try an understand it and eventually add to it.

Thanks all but I have made some simple things. I can't seem to get past that though. First I made a simple beat em up demo. Later I added a weapon and several attacks, I wanted to do more than that. No problems with animation. I have a program from steam that made it super easy. I've been reading the forums and the manual for sometime. I was doing well without any helpI have invested much time . The forums helped me a lot. My lack of coding knowledge is preventing me from progressing. I can't seem to learn the scripting I had some fun but I think I have maxed out my potential. I look for to what talented creators might make instead. Best of luck.

Could l atleast see the demo in action, now I'm curious.
Sorry I haven't been online much. I didn't mean to give you the wrong impression. It was nothing impressive. When I say Demo I had really short background and one enemy that you couldn't kill . LOL you had to exit the game with escape because I didn't know how to make a level change. I only had a punch animation and a point weapon animation. Couldn't determine how to make it fire and hit. I wanted to have things like key cards to open doors, change weapons. I am using SGDK now and making much more progress.

Also

You previously inquired about projects and at the time I was uncertain if were possible. Due primarily to prerequisite factors. Such as further developing scripting knowledge and permission to use Solid Snake as entity from Mugen character creator. I am happy to say I now have obtained these and enough sprite characters, weapons and even even cardboard box exist to build story around without altering canon.. Thanks to combinations via C improvement knowledge, C resources, Open Bor script knowledge, and SGDK C experience and advice by other creators. Metal Gear project will proceed with developments very excited to inform. I will be able to soon provide you with early stage development so you can get idea. It's action game with assault style 2D aspects and familiar Metal Gear environments, weapons, characters. Also attempt at similar enemy AI. As in original MSX2 game radio implementations in a text based story will be used. The timeline of story is events occurring between Original Metal Gear in prologue and then to through short time after MGS1. Centering around events before MGS2 Sons of Liberty. I had hoped you might enjoy this news as very exciting to be making this happen. I would like to Thank DCurrent, Bloodbane, and other members that answered specific questions who without this project not be possible. I hope interest to see is still in existence. Have other previous ambition but Metal Gears is current primary focus. I hope to get any fans to play when project completed.

Also @NED Game is not going to be too complex short mission based, lack of materials was in question, though I believe will work fine. Was more about needed assets, textures and knowledge however moving along now hope you will play. It won't be overwhelming now that stage is set. Demo soon. Everything is going well so far. Nowhere as long as other titles from series but potential for game shorter but in depth such as 2D portable ops. Significant testing confirmed for fun action shooter with original game elements. Not a giant project. Focused on short title playtime estimate for first time playthrough about 2 hours but with replay incentive. If fan I believe you will enjoy.

GOD BLESS ALL.

As far as console gaming go, MSG is one of my favourites, the franchise had some cucumbersome controls up until MGS5.
I don't consider Survive at all and look forward to the MGS3 remake but would of prefer the raiden game that got cancelled. They almost fixed every issue I had with MGS3 aside from the camera with Subsitance. Its always good when folk hop back on their project, labour of love.
The nostalgia to be had with the music at your disposal and infamous (!)
I too have limited my scope to one small demo I'm aiming to get done which can always be built upon in the future so all the best.

So here is a few games to look at that did stealth pretty well at the time.
Use to play the hell out of this and mission impossible

I love it too all way back to MX2 original. I was more partial to 1-4. Metal Gear was always about each area of gameplay having place of purpose. Never becoming monotonous in anyway. Often open world while offering quantity the quality takes hit. I wasn't a fan of the new open world. The lack of interesting Boss character felt like missing something. I did not enjoy as much. It has it's features but 3 Snake Eater was my favorite. Agree though survive was garbage game. Kojima knows that series best -he step away quality suffers for it.

The lack of boss battle sucked yes but as far as moment to moment gameplay go, it was next level, the controls was perfect when compared to the rest of the series. It had a decent playground.
The thing with openworld games is that devs just need to balance how much freedom you give the player when it comes to doing what they want to do vs them doing what you want them to do in the game. We crafting experiences here no different to making to a chef service a dish, knowing what people can expect when the eating start.
MGS5 was a incomplete project but when given free reigns, we end up with one of the most polarizing games in the form of Death stranding.
I'm curious to see what become of part 2.

MGS3 was my favorite at the time since it covered Big Boss but when I think about it, I like MGS4 the most. Hit all the right spots, 45 min cutscenes, cucumbersome controls,10min loading time frame, Raiden shed his wings, no longer a fairy.

If I'm not mistaken this got shut down by him and given to Platinum games and what we got was hack n slash game.
I was looking forward to seeing something along the lines of what is seen here in to demo.
