The project is currently under development.
It would look better in 1280x720 but i decided to leave 640x480 because it slowsdown on my phone in 720p, frameskip method is makifng the game stuttery and higher resolution makes the game 30fps instead of 60 but its too wide.
I was inspired by playing rayman origins, it looked like animated cartoon so i wanted to get similar feeling in openbor.

yea its max, i played the bear demo again and i realised something got corrupted cause 3rd platformer stage is not possible to beat, theres no platforms like through half of the stage, im goin to fix that now.

OK bears demo is fixed, offscreenkill was changed thats why some platforms didnt appear, heres the link, its the same but its updated already:

bwwd, this is VERY impressive! It's a simple platformer with easy gameplay and surprisingly nice atmosphere. Almost like you're trying to go for a Donkey Kong Country thing here. And the technical aspects? Like those sparkles, how the apple bounces, and the almost-Megaman jump physics? How'd you do that?

Very, very, very good work here my friend. Keep it up!  :D
 
I made sparkles in demo of magic particles soft, bounce of that apple is just bomb and instead of explosion anim when it hits i just used bounce anim.
I think sounds and music play big role too cause i tried some sounds at the beginning and they didnt fit to well, im using a bit of reverb on sounds.
Dynamic jump is effect of playing with gravity and maxfallspeed in stage txt header command.
 
I made some concept art for chars, you think shes ok for playable in that game or too creepy and should have own mod ?

This fits perfectly Bear mod.
Also Red hood can be a special mode of this mod with particular storyline based on original red hood story...
 
although it fits with the bear mod, is not a bad idea to have those chars on their own mod, you know, sort of creepy grimm bros/fairy tales.

btw, the kids friendly mod reminded me of Wagyan Land. It's a platformer with no violence, you even can't kill enemies with normal attacks (unlike mario) and the boss battles are minigames/quiz. The Wagyan series are on nes (3 games) and snes, maybe you want to give it a try:

Wagyan Paradise on SNES actually has some cute music, too! But I could never beat those stupid quiz mini-games... no translated ROMs anywhere.  :(
 
I think i will modify current state of both demos and will try to publish both on google play but i would like to have it a bit easier for people to install mods, so im not yet sure how its gonna look like but ill ask utunnels about it cause im delayin and delaying this but i have to finally do this so we get more exposure, android port is really amazing.

Maybe your memory works enough to recall a little place called gamikaze.  Some of us anticipated and predicted the 2d gaming comeback.  We speculated that openbor could be a big contender.

People thought we were crazy thou - Laughed at and mocked us they did!......

 
theres a lot of bad games on android and theres not many platformers that are nice to play, theres like 0 worthy to mention fighting games not mentioning beatemups.
I dont think 2d faded away, i think 2d and 3d games are juts different, for example i never accepted 3d mortal kombat games, they are garbage and dont look like mortal kombat games anymore.Some games are fine but its mostly about gameplay if game is shitthy then no 3d graphics will save it and ive seen some bad mechanics in 3d games.

I agree, but in parts. 3d graphics with 2D gameplay (like the MK9 ad SFIV) are pretty good. But 3D Graphics with 3D gameplay is weird.
 
I downloaded Bears today, and I'm really enjoying it.  It's very fun. :)

I do have a couple of criticisms of it though:
  • The max scroll speed of the screen is slower than the movement speed of the player characters.
  • This one's not really your fault, but OpenBOR's built-in jumping physics don't work at all for a platformer.  A script solution for controlling movement in midair would make the 2D platforming levels much better and less frustrating.
 
thx, you should try the other one , bears is first one and snail & turtle is a bit more dynamic and jumping is different.
Reason why screen scroll speed is like that is because i cant separately set up/down speed and right/left speed, i would like to have fast left/right movement but not so fast up/down because screen moves too much and too fast when i have it moving along with characters.
In platformer levels its on purpose made like this , ill try to change it but i believe i had it on default and i didnt liked it but maybe now its gonna be different.
Also when i will release demos on google play then i will remove robot and max from sam & max game.

Yea this is known issue with gfxshadow, its displayed on all layers, it should be displayed only on panel layer not on background layers but i dont think its easy to change that, its fine when using old shadows mode but i prefere gfxshadows so it has to stay like this.
