Recca Soldiers - Advance Wars. Operation: Broken Core is a fan made run and gun/beat´em up video game.
The game mix some basic mechanics from games like Contra, Metal Slug, Crime City (Arcade) In the Hunt, Final Fight, Rush and Attack (Nes) Double Dragon, Bucky o Hare (Arcade) Aliens (Arcade) and Mega Man, with a simple (and cliche) plot with no connections with the official games.

The Definitive Plus Edition are available now, with important upgrades, characters can now run and shoot with more accuracy and can gain levels of experience by defeating enemies, fixed the save error in the playable android App, balanced difficult, moved some cheap-placed enemies, added a few new cameos and various fixes here and there, more stages with Mode 7 effects, extended some zones and new weapons.

I tried it! This is very refreshing to play!
I like this even if I'm not familliar with the advance wars series. (I'm more into real time action games)

The only "frustrating" thing is the fact you cannot move and shoot at the same time. (it would make the gameplay more smooth, particularly the Sh'mup parts.
Perhaps using the script/method in Contra's Openbor mod would make it.

Just tried to play this and there's a problem. There's no bullets shooting from any guns. I can only kill enemies by throwing grenades, walking into them, I assuming the grab animation is used for an auto CQC attack, and I only took damage from an RPG.
 
Be sure to map correctly the controls in the configuration menu,all characters can shoot with no problems.

I always play with a controller so mapping the buttons is the first thing I do before any OpenBor game but I digress. The problem was my own fault, I put your mod in a folder with a bunch of other mods and it didn't hit me until earlier today that might've been the issue. I just now tried your mod in it's own folder and it does work.

So far I played the first stage for a test run. I like the concept of it but some of the enemy placement and the level design together for the first level is a bit cheap. It's easy to get hit and get hit and knocked off the stage because of this, and a few times the enemy right above my head kept firing and it was hard to jump into the air and shoot him, but you did add grenades which I made use of when I needed to.

That's all I got for now, I'll update further the next time I play it, I want to get a certain amount of work done on my own mod before I start anything else.

Nice. Yes, my game are certainly difficult in some ways but not impossible, just need some practice. I've manage to create this game with practically no use of special scripts because my lack of knowledge of how to implement that correctly. In Contra Lock and loaded you can run and gun but not in this game because I don't know how recreate this mechanic :) but despite this, the game is fully playable and I think have enough material (and funny references) to play it to the end, despite are just another amateur work.

i really enjoyed it but found a glitch on stage 9 "I think it was stage 9 lol" Were u could not carry on with the stage im sure it had something to do with a random enemy not spawning or something like that.

But other than that fantastic work the game is awesome :) "You will see the glitch at the end of my video"

That is also why i love to beta test people's project's before they make them public so they can iron out any bug's or glitch's ect so im glad that random glitch actually happened so you can take a look and try to fix it in the next update :D

Realmente lo disfruté, pero encontré una falla en la etapa 9 "Creo que fue la etapa 9 lol" Si no pudiste continuar con la etapa, estoy seguro de que tuvo algo que ver con un enemigo aleatorio que no apareció o algo así.

Pero aparte de ese fantástico trabajo, el juego es increíble :) . "Verás el error al final de mi video".

Esa es también la razón por la que me encanta hacer una prueba beta de los proyectos de las personas antes de que los hagan públicos para que puedan solucionar cualquier error o falla, así que me alegro de que haya ocurrido una falla aleatoria para que puedan echar un vistazo.

Thanks for the demo Bloodbane, very useful, can someone implement this mechanic in the game? I don't have the enough skill with scripts and follows. Today I manage to fix the default jump, now characters can move in mid air even in a idle jump

Delete the save files in the save folder then when u relaunch from the exe you will be able to input the control's in option's to whatever you like :)

Yeah i figured that is what happened hahaha
 
O illusionista says that he's can fix the default grenades of the playable characters (the grenades explode in mid air even without touch anything)
I manage to make the behav of grenades in this way because they are just a type item with a simple jumpframe to give the effect of throwing, but in order to evitate a weird grenade sliding animation in the ground, my unique solution was just let it explode frames after this touch the ground. (Yes, I need more knowledge)
