Streets of Rage 4

O Ilusionista

Captain 100K
FINALLY!

Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games and Dotemu are thrilled to present Streets of Rage 4.

Featuring hand-drawn visuals from the team behind 2017’s gorgeous Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, Streets of Rage 4 builds upon the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem.

Artwork is amazing, though good gravy will I be glad whenever the beard obsession finally dies.

Only thing I don't like so far is that only Axel and Blaze are mentioned. If they leave out Adam, Max, Skate, or any combination of those three it would be a monumental fail. Unfortunately it looks like they're going for a more over the top combo oriented style - notice how Blaze's stationary jump kick didn't knock down and Axel's special was a mutltihit juggle? That doesn't bode well for Max being included. :(

People screaming in comments for Yuzo Koshirio, but that's not going to happen. Even if it did Yuzo really lost his touch with SOR3. Let's hope whoever is on music knows how to evoke the style and quality of SOR1 and 2's soundtrack - that was a huge part of their appeal.

O_O Didn't see that coming.

I hope the music will be faithful too. I imagine the music in the trailer is just to build hype, which works. The animation was reall impressive for a fan project too.

I think they will probably have the full cast. Would be weird without them. Maybe they plan to reveal them at a later date for more hype like fighting games do?

It looks incredible. Looking forward to getting my hands it :)

The animation sequences for the characters look really great but from what little they showed of gameplay I honestly think it could look much better for hires stuff. To me it looked like resized and filtered sprites which I find pretty damn ugly.

Also them only showing 2 characters just makes me think that this is probably early into development, so I'll wait.

I´m very happy to know but a little worried about the mechanics and music ... I hope they do a better job than the original games made by Sega

Hell yeah, just heard about this myself, glad to see we're finally getting a new game for this series even after so long. I am a bit skeptical though, the music, the beard, only Axel and Blaze, and DC touched on all of this so I don't need to add more.

Still glad to finally see this happening.  ;D

About time we got SoR4. Really hyped for this. I do hope the music will go back to the quality of SoR1/SoR2. I wan't a big fan of the music in SoR3.

DC wants beardboyz to end

Hey what's the matter with beards, girls love them  ;D

Joking aside, I hope seeing just SoR1 cast and maybe SoR2 chars as unlockables, I hated the Japanese robot fellow form the 3rd game

The intro sequence animation is really crazy. just watched several times.
I also hope there will be more playable chars from 1 & 2 (Adam as well)
It will depends of the time they have to release the game, this is not pixel art, and it reaaaally takes time to animate everything, so we'll see.

But that's really crazy. Can't wait to discover more about the game. We're all gonna enjoy it, hopefully :)

Very exciting news about this project, hopefully it would be better than other remakes, thanks to share this awesome game. IMO I don´t like the new bearded Axel

;D It's funny that we both noticed that, but our reactions are polar opposite. I love fast, frantic combo play. The more hits I can land in a more stylish manner, the better!

That said, I do hope they reconcile SoR's more deliberate combos with a touch of that BlazBlue button mashing. I'd hate to see another franchise stray too far from the gameplay that created its fanbase to begin with (looking at you, Final Fantasy).

I have to admit, I'm also on the "where's Yuzo" bandwagon. He's been relegated to remixes/arrangements and JRPG's these days, but I think he could bring the street techno back.

Not bad, and not good.
I need to see more... Far away of what i wanted for a Sor4 game after 24 years.

Judging by those HD screenshots, the game lacks life and details, like those flash-like games we have nowdays;

Combat looks good tho.

Sega don't mess this up, PLEASE!

Or hire the Double Dragon Neon guys to do the right thing. The developers on this sor4 project is a mess. From a REALLY bad company, to a great company.

About the music on the trailer, i liked.

I just found out about this, and I have mixed feelings (as I do about most things).

On the plus side:
Lizardcube and Dotemu did a great job on Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, so that's comforting.
The promo animation and title screen art look great.

On the minus side:
Guard Crush Games is shit. I normally don't post opinions about other developers, but for them I'll make an exception. As far as I can tell they only ever made one game, called "Streets of Fury", which is absolute bottom of the barrel garbage.

The artwork is not bad at all, but sadly it has a completely different atmosphere than Streets of Rage. I'd expect to see  neons and primary colours against a dark background. Instead they seem to have gone for a palette with many browns and pastels, as well as white elements in the background and dark ones in the foreground. And never mind Axel's beard, why is he orange?

The promo animation is very good even if I can't stand seeing Axel runing like a narutard ninja... :P

The redesign is pretty ok, particularly for Blaze.

I'm really glad this happens, but I somewhat don't really like the graphic style, I mean ingame.

This game could have been very nice if it was not titled SOR, but another licence.

And just like DC said, the absence of the other characters make me not so happy.

It sounds like they did the minimum of effort with just flashy new graphics and forget the essence of SOR.

I don't know about gameplay and system, but I have really bad presentiment about it.
Not a lot of moves, and obviously nothing new.

But I still hope this game will be pleasing to play. and I will support it anyway, bacause we waiting for a sequel for so long.
