Hey everyone! Still on the lookout for an experienced spirit ready to dive into a new project! I'm an artist on the hunt for a dev buddy to team up and cook up something awesome for 2024.
Got a cool concept in mind, made a bit of progress, and I'm gearing up to bring the character roster to life with animations. But hey, if my idea isn't quite your jam, no worries! Let's brainstorm together and whip up something that gets us both pumped.
I've got a slick style in mind that delivers results at lightning speed, and I can churn out animations like there's no tomorrow using some pre-rendering techniques, à la Killer Instinct! Let's make magic happen! 🤝

if there are no takers, i will make a suggestion:

i would love to see prerendered versions of existing MUGEN/IKEMEN characters, and from what i saw on your previous post, the art style reminds me of that one smash brothers warner brothers clone...

if you can manage more complex models, re-renderings of Killer instinct 1 and 2 stages are in order, and lots of people would like to see that too.
as well as pre-rendered or rendered famous levels...

back in 2018, there seems to be no good version of Shrek for MUGEN

what im trying to say is, i think that if you open up a Patreon, or any crowdfunding of your choice, i am sure that people will donate to see prerendered conversions of existing characters, and any original work you can do.

I am an unpersoned bastard, so it is hard for me donate stuff or receive donations, so to get anything from me and weirdos like me you might want to look into crypto, metamask, etc

As for the style goes, I would rather speak about the technique, as Im trying to exploit PreRendered 3D, this is because Im able to create from the ground up, meaning from modelling up to rendering, fluid animations in any given resolution and visual consistency faster than I would with cel shading/pixel art techniques. And by faster I speak from years of experience, what it takes for me to create a full 30+ animations by hand (months) vs Pre-Rendering (less than a week).

Part of the pipeline is starting with a brand 3D character, and this is the slowest part of the process, so I've acquired a couple of Unity asset packs with some characters, and started from there, so, on this sample you will see a Security Guard, that's based on the original model, but further stylized in Zbrush with some key body exaggerations, that's about it, the important part is that I've created the full set of sprites for the basic movement, defense, reactions and attacks with a couple of special attacks y about 4 days after tweaking the character (this is the sprite part, because me, trying to implement them on the engine took me like a month, that's why Im here seeking for a helping hand to partner with). I've picked a cartoony style because of the simplycity of the polygonal base mesh for me to build up details on top quickly, but if anyone is interested and this funky style doesn't match your taste I could start over and make/acquire a set of characters and scope another concept.

So, these are a few roster starters I have to scope a narrow project for people to start testing sooner with a proper proof of cencept. I do have some solid ideas about the overall concept ideas and I have tthe tools and skills to plan and carry the production stages stages, sound design, visual fx design, GUI, the Lore. So, if anyone wants to join me and wants to focus on the implementation only, I can carry part of the weight.
