I Am working on making levels from the Original TMNT Arcade Game To be played on White Dragon's TMNT:Shell Shocked module.

Get it here: http://www.chronocrash.com/forum/index.php?topic=428.0

I also plan on remaking the two exclusive maps and bosses from the NES game of the arcade game.

I have a beta of the first level from the arcade game and the 4th level from the NES game(the snow map).

Here are some screenshots.

You can Download it here: TMNT_Arcade - Beta - v0.30.7z

You will need White Dragon's TMNT:Shell Shocked module unpacked to play it.Instruction on how to do that are in the readme if you don't already know how to do that.

Here is my update of Tora.

I accidentally made him a little too big.But I like it so I think I'm going to keep it that way.Anyway it says in the turtlepedia wikia that he is 10 foot tall.So I think it works out good.He is about twice as tall as the turtles.

Let me know what you think about my work so far, and any suggestion are welcome.

I would like to thank White Dragon for letting me use his TMNT:SS game module as a base for my levels.

I would also like to thank GaBoTiCo and Mersox  for letting me use code from there TMNT games.

Edit- New Demo up

You can Download it here: TMNT_Arcade - Beta - v0.30.7z

WOW!! That snow stage looks really good!! Tora could use some work, but overall this looks really good!

well done!. very good idea.

however, you should join forces with white dragon on a certain way, isnt?

i means... take as example the cool fighting street game from seep openbor. it have 2 versions. normal and "bosses hack", witht he bosses playable.

so my answer is... could be possible join both game into one, creating a kind of "bosses hack" version?

cause both games will have a lot of stages, and a lot of enemies, bosses and playable chars.

so will be cool can use all those bosses maked by white dragon into this one, or use this tmnt1 stages onto the tmnt shell shoked game.

i means, make mixes of both games but with the contents of both. ;)

also, the white dragon problem is the creation of new sprites, cause the guy is alone making all.

however, if you and other cool help him working aside with this tmnt1 remake, and then, further those for example new chars done by you guys, could be ported into tmnt ss... will be a good idea for join forces and make a better and bigger tmnt game.

allowing even, to other guys creates a similar remake but for the 2nd or 3rd tmnt parts too. right?

anyway, i see this idea very good. the turtles are more live than never!. :)
thank you for this. ;).

ps:
---
by the way... my favourite game is the first, but the second have better graphics and also a higher higher difficulty.

and then, came the tmnt hyper stone heist, that have the better moves...

so... a mix beetwhen the best of every game into one, will be obtain the best result possible. ;)

greetings

alright... after testing it, i found this problem:

theres a lot of troubles for make this work!. :P

at least on the latest 5819 version of tmnt shell shocked, cause the game demo has suffered many little changes here and there doing this patch non working.

i make a patch with the changes that i can done with my slighty knowledge of the engine. uncomprenssing the game and changing the levels.txt and models.txt for add the correct things and make everything will gona be ok.

my clear sugestion: the idea is excelent, but there could be 2 things for make it much more better:

1st) mainly, dont publish it as a patch. because that will make the patch will not work with further versions. (just like happened to me this time). :P

i think that is much better release it completed. with the patch for the tmnt1 and the original latest tmnt ss demo version.

you can ask for permission to white dragon first. but im sure he will accept. ;)

2nd) "add an extra thing" inside:
(this is a suggestion only).

since this patch will add "only" the tmnt1 stages, and also another specials levels like on the tmnt1 nes, could be super cool if you also added one or more new chars.  that will make the game much more interesting for sure.

however.. this will means talk before with white dragon, for create a char that he dont are interested or not was done yet or even planned.

for example, add one character that even will not appear on the original tmnt ss stages. as for example the winter park stage and their boss: Tora. making him playable.

the idea came after i played this passed week the "tmnt rescue palooza demo", with many bosses chars unlockable after pass single levels. was wonderful!. :)

maybe these bosses doents have many attacks or specials, cause they are bosses with not too much attacks.

also, there are another amazing and completelly new chars in there...
as april oneil and mona lisa. both very well done in their sprites works and originality.

anyway, those new chars or the bosses playable, all they only have a few attacks avaliable. so they will be not hard to do.

this bosses only includes: one combo attack, one special, and a jump kick (or just repeat the main attack but on the air)... and is done!.

white dragon cant do everything by himself. cause is a lot of work.
and also the game memory is limitated. you cannot add there all the chars that you want. there will be a limit

however... you guys can help him creating new chars (wich is the more harder work)...

...or just create your own alternate game version. in wich will came some different playable chars related to the tmnt1 game. (or any others that you wanted to add).

from simple enemy robots playable (road kill rodney, the mousers, or flying robots) to any else other rare and original playable char that you could add.

a good example: the original tmnt1 turtles, instead of the appeared on the 2nd game. white dragon will not add they having the others. (i already asked this to him many time ago)

or... why not? maybe you could add too different versions of the bosses. enemies and playables aswell.

for example? one maybe could be sheredder. but in their tmnt1 game version.

well, this is only a personal suggestion...

but i think that add new playable chars there (even when they will not have too much attacks due to his limitations as enemies) will be a very original and interesting adiction to your mod.

at least on my humble opinion... ;)

ps:
----
congratulations to the maker of the snow park. is awesome!. a remake pretty well done.

however, watch out!. theres a glitch on the fountain:
if the enemies throw you snow balls, they will keep there floating on the fountain. is like "magic" hehe. ;)

the Tora character.. hummm, i like the idea and the stage a lot. (the tmnt2 nes game is one of my favourites) but man, he is too much big!, isnt?

that way, the details of the recolored char looks worst that if you do it smaller. like on the original game.  that way... looks GIANT!. :P

by the way... Tora could be too one of those chars that you can do playable aswell.
(at least, if white dragon will dont do it tora and their stage for his game).

greetings ;)

ps:
----
heres the link for make your demo of the "tmnt1 arcade game demo 0.9" will work correctly on the "tmnt shell shocked 5919 demo".  enjoy it guys. ;)

--instructions--:

you must rename the required files inside the "data" folder of the uncompressed game.

this means, first uncompress the tmnt ss by drag in the extractor and copy inside it the tmnt1 patch.

then, copy inside it this "levels.txt" and "models.txt" modified files.
(but the ones that came named as "tmnt1"). cause the others named as "tmnt ss" are for comparison only).

ps 2:
------
i tried to add there too the battletoads chars from that other bor mod.
but saddly it looks they are uncompatible with this bor version...  what a pity!. :(

I am glad you enjoyed my work and the new snow stage. Sorry the mod did not work at first and you had to fix it yourself.

I have been taking a break from working on this the last few weeks. I have a lot of work done and should have released something before taking my break. The break was not planned it just happen when I got side tracked by ripping sprites for another OpenBOR mod I want to make.

I've ripped 95% of all the sprites and backgrounds from the SNES game Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage in the last few weeks. So close to done ripping.Just need Venom and Carnage and I'm done.

It sounds like you are saying it would be better for me to just release it when it's complete and package it with whatever version TMNT:SS is at at the moment.

I do not want my mod to be be separate from TMNT:SS. I want it to be able to be play with any additions, updates and fixes White Dragon makes to TMNT:SS. This way if White Dragon finds a bug in the code for Rocksteady or something and fixes it I do not have to go to my game and fix it too.In the long run I think it will be a lot easier too keep my mod compatible with his then to keep mine updated with all the fixes he makes as time goes on.

When It is completed I plan to ask White Dragon to add it too his Module. So his game and mine can be played in the same Modules. Then I might start on making the Turtles in Time levels for TMNT:SS. I think it would be cool to have all the games in one package.

The reason I'm not packaging the demos with the version of TMNT:SS I use when making it is because I have a limited data plan with my ISP, so I would rather upload a 5 or 6 MB file then a 315 MB file with it combined. Most people that like TMNT will already have his game downloaded and can combine it themselves.

About adding new playable character. I'm not that good at OpenBOR yet so do not expect anything like that from me anytime soon.

Also your right tora needs to be replace with one less big, I put a lot of work into updating him just to realize too late that I had him at the wrong dimensions and he was too big.I will fix him at some point but probably after I'm close to or finished with everything else. DAMN YOU TORA.

I should have a new demo up really soon. It will have all the levels in it.Thought the technodrom level is not the same as in the arcade version for now. I don't know how to go about doing the elevator part yet. So its a modified version with that part removed.

I have Krang in the game but I suck at making enemies so he still needs some work.

I just put a bunch of foot clan in the levels with no real thought just wanted the levels to be populated so you can have fun fighting through them.

Don't bother reporting any bug or anything there are a lot and I probably already know about them and just have not got to fixing them yet.Like human baxters death frames.

Also the levels are still missing a lot of walls and or platforms so you might be walking through stuff or into the walls at the end of a level.

New demo is ready.

You can Download it here: TMNT_Arcade - Beta - v0.30.7z

It will work with TMNT_SS-[REV5819]

This is an awesome idea, ripping the levels from TMNT 4.
Having all the levels in White Dragon's excellent engine would be awesome. So If I get the idea wright White Dragon levels and engine, and your levels and tmnt 4 levels ? if that is the case it would be a dream come true

No just using it as a example.

damn example... LOL ;)

well, dont worry. your idea is excelent and sure that white dragon will love have those tmnt1&2 moduls too in there. in fact, have those games including extra levels, on that cool quality that on the snow level, is a very good idea.

about playable enemies, you should ask them for help to white dragon... maybe he can help you for fix those problems that you can have on that hard work is edit an sprite.  and also for make him playable as well. ;)

the good thing is that on this forums, i saw many very good spriters doing a fabulous work here and there, even when i always though that do your own sprites is a harder and also an excelent work when they was finishing.

ps:
----
one question... will be possible rip sprites or transform tv tmnt80 shots or scans, into pixelated chars?
if one program could do such a thing, the work will be supposed more easy... :P isnt?

other thing, sorry pal... but a new tmnt ss version just appeared. so i dont know if the patch will work now (you can blame white dragon for this!. LOL. ;)

a crazy turtles evil clon ideas i had right now!:
-------------------------------------------------------
also, other interesting an easy addon thing i though...

guys, why you dont try to do an evil turtle clone/s?. both enemy and playable as well it possible.

it could have some attacks different, darker sprites but mainly be the same turtles with only some limitations...
that is a thing already used on 2 of the tmnt 80 episodes, where some turtle clones (like one donnie turtle evil clon) tried to trap the other turtles. or just like on the tmnt tournament genesis fighting game too. :)

is an easy to made but interesting enemy or bosses. and also an interesting and very rare alternate playable character/s.

they could appear, as middle bosses on the technodrome stage...

or even they could came trought the portal, as the evil turtle clones from another dimension.
one where the heroes was krang and shredder and the bad guys trying to conquert the world will be april, splinter and the 4 turtles. hehehe

do you imagine that? hehe.

this remenbers me to that evil future on the tmnt 2003 cartoons where only mickey survive with only with arm (like gohan on dragon ball z) and the donnie from the normal world, tried to save him and raph and kill the really evil shredder of that evil darker dimension.

i thing those things/ideas, will be really insteresting for be even an extra stage, passing trough the portal to another chaos dimension with everything destroyed. before can get back to the technodrome and can fight againts krang and shredder for the final battle.

apart, on that same way, the alternate good versions of shredder and krang could help you as cpu strikers on those destroyed city stage too. hehehe

other similar idea i tough about the portal (it can provide to you many similar ideas!), could be try to mimic those few images we have from "dimension x" on the 80s cartoon, just for create an extra level on there.

something looking as a... fire volcan? or something like that, for the turtles will be being trapped trought the portal, and have to fight back their way to another opened portal, somewhere, for can get back to the earth.

just like on streets of rage... when you refuses to be on the side of mrx after already said "yes" at the begin of the fight. making that mr.x will send you back to the factory stage 7 again. is something like this...

well, these only are some ideas i tough just right now.
that dimensional portal, opens a wade and very large number of posibilities. on the same way they does on the tmnt shows.  ;D

greetings ;)

Hate to Do this but it's better then leaving everyone in the dark.

I'm not going to be working on this project anymore. Its just not fun for me anymore, I have lost my enthusiasm.I hope someone will come along and finish it for me and everyone.  :'(

I might come back to it someday. When I get interested in the TMNT again, it happens every few years.  8)

I really got a lot more done for this then I would have thought I could. There are background for every level and there's even enemy's in them so it still some fun even unfinished.  ;)

oooh man... why? :(. that are very bad news!!... :'(

you do a very cool work with that snow stage and the tmnt1 mod idea... is a true pity that finally you leave this behind and abandoned. :P

well, my suggestion then, is that you should ask to white dragon...
i hope him could be interested on add into the game those finished stuff on level 1 and the snow level, along other elements you could have outhere.

will be good have all that added inside the main game.

i suppose that maybe the lack of interest could come for the sprites works?
i know is harder do that for yourself. maybe asking to someone to help you...

anyway, this a very bad/sad notice...  :'(

but anyway, thanks for the stuff you already maked. ;)  at least you show was really possible do a very cool remake of the snow level. for me the harder part, cause the rest of levels can be ripped from the game, and the only problem will be programming them and add the enemies there. (they dont need any sprites work as the snow one).

I'm really sorry for your abandonment of this project. Of course now I prefer to create something new with my game for now but I think that sooner or later TMNT1 & 2 Arcade will be inserted in TMNT SS!
BTW your work I was enjoying a lot, especially the bonus levels as snow and the Japanese temple.

I played your mod ^__^

But I need it to play the tmnt arcade ..with w now stage included and Tora...build 5825 is not working with that at arcade patch ..sure u don't have. Rev5819
