The limit of 600 only applies to level spawns. That is, objects spawned by a level itself - and even then only with the level's standard text file. Scripted spawns don't have any limit at all.

You don't need to bypass that limit. What you need to pay attention is lifespan of FXs you are spawning so they are gone after showing themselves. In other word, you control the number of active entities in the game
OTOH those effects don't last long naturally anyways

Also, I think I understand how sprite work now. I was wrong about the amount of details I could put in a 120px figure with realistic proportions, and I'm quite dazzled. I compare it to studio work ; I think I'm not so far behind, especially for only 22 colors.

Tho, the more I get into openbor, and the more I realize how time consuming it is. I will never be able to achieve something just by myself, draw all the sprites and do the mod and learn to script at the same time, after doing my time at dayjob.

So... I'll just put out there that if anyone want to collaborate with me on an original project (from scratches), I'll be available for the time being. Not expecting anything, but cost nothing to ask
 
I'm really glad to see some progress in your project.

Initially, I didn't interfered with your sprite style. Because I didn't want to stop your creativity by suggesting a certain type of spriting.

Your progress is very good to me.

It's great that there is someone is improving. And don't give up on what you doing if it's beneficial to you.Keep learning and do all your best as you can :)
 
Ran into this thread doing some cleaning work. Sad that it just kind of died.
