Double Dragon Revive

I was awaiting this review and...
My God, look at those physics. Abobo bounces off the wall like a rag doll. There's no difference in his weight, and for a 3D game in 2025, that's pretty poor.

Poor, in fact, is the definition of this game for me. It's an expensive Asset Flip.

Preface: I have never been a fan of Top Hat Gaming Man. IMO, his "deep dives" are no more than surface level regurgitation of any first page Google search. I actually found his wife's videos far more insightful and interesting. That said, I never thought he was dishonest or a shill. At least until now.

There is no way this video didn't involve some scratch under the table.

*Edit:* ...and in bringing that up, I just found out about the 2022 controversy with both of them and a copyright issue. Wow... shows how much I don't pay attention. :P

I'm shocked at Top Hat for this review, The emphasis on the way to play this game is two player baffles me, If the best way to enjoy a beat em up is two player then it's an awfully botched game.

Top Hat and his wife are a joke i unsubbed them ages ago. I did see his review of it tho it poped up in my feed hahaha @danno

I hardly watched Top Hat videos since he keep recycling his videos over and over again. I used to watch his wife's content a bit but I stopped watching it as well. I mostly watched retro gaming longplays nowadays and some other creators content like GameSack, Sega Lord X, Retro Core and some musical reviews on the side.

@Hanzo, @dai92, @danno, @O Ilusionista

I watched some of his earlier content when he first came on the scene. At the time, his main draw was not being the sort of hyper aggressive, intentionally abrasive type of online persona that plagued the gaming community. Made him a breath of fresh air. Problem is, that's all he had. There just wasn't any substance at all to his videos and it got real old, real fast. Especially when you had people like Max Dood and Matt McMuscles who were also reasonably professional and actually knew what they were talking about.

When his wife showed up, I thought her stuff was much better, but still just kind of lost interest, and that was several years ago.

I had no idea they had devolved so hard since then. Oh well.

I didn't watch his full review, does he say, that in order to enjoy Revive you need to play in coop with another player? If so I have an answer for that - coop is pretty broken and no, it does not make the game better, rather it makes it worse.
I have finished the game with a friend in local coop and we were super frustrated at platforming segments, for example. Thing is - the screen scrolling follows the front player, say if you are in the right part of the screen and push forward and your buddy is just idle standing in the left part of the screen, the screen will move with you and the standing buddy will be moved or rather pushed forward by scrolling screen. In many cases it will push the "left" player into the pit if he is not following the front player close enough, also the front player can scroll the screen so that respawning player 2 will respawn above the pit and fall into it again. The funny thing I remember - the friend was playing Marian, we were at the spiral staircase on a stage, and he was standing idle, if I ran left or right to scroll the screen, marian would be standing still but her hair were fluttering in the wind left or right, as if she was riding a bike or something :D
Another dumb thing - if you revive your buddy he will resurrect with around 75% of hp *each time*, like if you die a lot and be resurrected you will always have large amount of hp back. It should have been maybe less hp each time you resurrect or something, to balance things out. But because of that we were just planning who would die first (the player with less hp), so that the other one could revive, and that was our working strategy for later boss fights. So, reviving is OP, but hey it's DD "Revive" for that reason, right?😏
