I played the 2 first missions. I have to say this is an instant classic  8) Gameplay and difficulty are very well balanced, the ability to change char makes it almost a strategy game :) I didn't explore every char yet but they sure have all their strength and weaknesses. Congrats, congrats, congrats ! And this happens just 2 weeks after I re-watched the whole anime (including the fan-made season end).

This is amazing!I actually got it yesterday but due to personal issues got to play it just now (I plan on finishing arcade mode first, and then try my best to complete story mode without losing XD) The presentation is Superb, the cartoon FMV, excerpts from the cartoon BGM and Sound Effects,  the pixelart work as i said on the youtube comments, is really skillfully done, right out of the cartoon design. how a game based on a license should look ^^ spot on.  I loved the gameplay mechanic of switching characters at any given moment in story mode, (as fredo46 explained in better detail  ^^), to make better use of each's strentght depending on the situation. Such as in the game "Dragon's Crown" where each character has heavier damage but slower movements, others projectiles and longer range attacks, etc... Great use and creative editing of graphics assets aswell!
This game is significant for me also, because i grew up playing games like Knights of The Round, The King of Dragons, Dungeons & Dragons Tower of Doom, Dungeons & Dragons Shadow over Mystara...this brings back all those good memories.
I think the developers of "Dragon's Dogma" and "D&D Shadows Over Mystara" would be proud.
Thanks for branching out your talent to bring us games from other franchises like MK, D&D, Street Fighter---even in the DC games, including my favorite franchise' characters, the ninja turtles! (which, with so many crossovers, i guess are now part of the DC universe in a way lol)
Congratulations on this project, i love it, and also congrats on improving your skills with every new project and being so productive. Developers like you are everything that's right about fangames and the reason i came back to OpenBOR and Mugen.

Cool! You get it! each boss have a cheap way to be defeated with some char, thats why chars are intentionally unbalanced.

King of Dragons was one of my favorite games back there, Pierwolf KOD is my favorite Openbor Game too.
Is nice to see how this games touch others!

Thundercats would be a great one :) It always bothered me that whenever there was a Thundercats game (official or fanmade) Lion-O was the only playable character. What about Panthro, Tigra, Cheetarah, Wily-Kat and Wily-Kit? They could have had such unique playstyles.
 
Here’s a few points I want to add; the game should have more defensive options available to players, as it seems to be very lacking in them, and I feel like Karena and/or Varla would be cool additions as future unlockables similar to Venger and co.

I have an issue with the game, are you supposed not to be able to resume your save from story mode? only when doing the arcade run?

I'm always surprised how youtubers upload your games (and other great creators' games) DAY ONE and start making money with adfly and other similar systems full of malwares and NSFW content.

I know EXACTLY the kind of youtubers you mean =_= like "DESI GAME WORLD"? i had subscribed to several of those, on youtube which seemed to cover mugen, openbor, and fangames the quickest, like literally day one kind of fast. So i figured "this way, i will get the news faster from all fronts, mugen, (Bem??Sou MUGEN PLAYER also, i love mugen! :D) openbor, even flash and other engine games"
But then i realized the reason for pumping the videos so fast had a bit of a darker reason...$$$...AdFly links and Spam pop-ups up the wazoo.
For shame, i know these youtubers are reading this, this is the source for their content and their profit, so:

Yes!The same happens to me, i think this is intended, the arcade run maybe for people who want to do it old fashioned style (Choose a single character per credit, load and save to your heart content, as if putting more coin into arcade machine, i think that is the case). Story mode, maybe supposed to present a challenge, altho your reward would be the story content, and ability to switch characters strategically at any point in the stage.
But, i asked zvitor and he gave me this little tip ;D maybe it helps:
"to everyone who wants cheat, or more lives, try enter at select screen of arcade mode, then ESC and start history mode, you will start with 3 lives, but with 3 continues too."

Unfortunately, that does not help if you get interrupted mid run, in the later portions, and then learn you can't continue in a different moment. I mean I admit I'd also enjoy a chance to be able to savescum or something if I enter a level with multiple lives and lose because I can't figure the proper trick to it, that is also a small issue <.<. But I see no harm in keeping that as an option to anyone, this is just a single player game right? no leaderboards or anything.
 
Back to the game !
Ok this is great, i made it until the venger stage but i had only 7 scrolls so i was told to start all over again. That's a hard punishment ! couldn't i go back only in the stage i didn't get the scroll ?
Otherwise game is great still have to explore most chars. I used sheiley most of the time, once she's maxed she's a real tornado. Billy maxed also for damage with his uppercut, und eric from time to time, against 1st boss and shooters.
Game is not so hard, just challenging enough, you can all get to the end. I'll try it again to get all 8 scrolls but the problem is i don't know which one i missed.
CONGRATS AGAIN ON THIS WONDERFUL GAME !

Yes, much better to discuss this great game, the other stuff is something that i had on my chest for a long time and when the topic was brought out, i just had to take the opportunity of the relevancy to get it out. I Consider it done with.

I haven't gotten around to giving the game the focus it deserves yet because i had to get vaccinated, and just life got in the way in general. But what i noticed is that, since i liked the character Bobby, i figured "I will play strategically, switching characters and all, for example Eric when i need to ricochet projectiles that enemies throw right back to them, hank when i need long range attacks, diana when her athletic speed and double jumps help make the most of the bonus stages...but, when i break a box and a power up item appears, i will switch to bobby, and only level up bobby."
It didn't turn out not to be so simple, i ended up maxing up his power, sure, but not his speed, therefore, i actually neglected leveling-up the other characters' and ended up losing, of course :D but it was something that i did not know before i tried it.
So it is a balancing act of choosing which character to level up (and at what point in the game it would benefit the most, too, you may not require leveling up strength at the beginning of the stage, for example, so can choose accordingly to which skill would get you through the farthest at that specific stage of the game)
Very interesting to have all this variety, and gives it a "learning curve", and challenge to aim for.
I really want to experiment playing more soon ^^

PS: I really liked the alternative color palettes for the characters, just wanted to say that :P
PPS: I also haven't had much time to think of more 80s or 90s cartoons that could make interesting games but never had one...a "Ronin Warriors" one by zVitor is all i could think about once he mentioned he actually started plans on it, so as of now i'd mostly care about that over any other franchise ;D

But if i had to remember more..."Dinosaucers" was...pretty interesting, maybe..?I don't know.

"M.A.S.K." (Mobile Armored Strike Command) had a very confusing Commodore 64 game so i could make it an exception as a game i'd like to see fanmade...but...well, i think the strength would definitely be 'vehicular combat', platforming and beat 'em up i wouldn't really think would be a good use of the license....i saw some games like "Metal Slug BEAT EM UP" by 'Mar Games' or "Zombie West" by 'Heat Games' that made me wonder if a game like "Mercs" or "Shock Troopers" could be made,, but using car sprites in place of human characters...and yes, i know openbor has specific shoot em up sections, they are fun as bonuses, like driving the vehicle in merso-x thundercats game, riding Battlecat in bWWd's he-man and the masters of the universe game...how cool is that?it's some of the most fun fanservice ^^

Maybe you can map different controllers, say you have a keyboard and 2 joystick..or even better 3 joysticks. Then when you are on the last credit's last life, press start on the 2nd player's controller. If you do this for all 3 players, that'd be i believe...9 lives and 9 continues?
Of course, there is a downside: you will lose all level-ups of the characters that you have accumulated >.< but i mean, if you want to keep playing a bit longer, that could be better than nothing.

Amazing content you made for this game, although I'm a bit surprised that Warduke is one of the secret playable characters despite him being a  overpowered villain from the TV cartoon and the Rise of Warduke fan game created by Bloodbane and Count Monte.

Thanks Illu, i'm relieved. And I hope Zvitor, too ; I think he's very cool not to get mad after beeing asked to make another game just after he finished this one and even before playing it :)

Anyway tadaaaa... Yesterday I finished the game ! I finally got all 8 scrolls to reach final stage. They're quite easy to find. Some quick remarks :

CHARS
The idea of upgrading ONLY ONE stat from each char is great (and unique ?) ; it also gives us tips on how to use each char (Hank -> attack speed, Bobby -> attack damage, Sheila -> don't remember, Presto -> mischance down (great idea !), Diana -> Run speed, Eric -> damage taken)
I used mostly Diana the Acrobat, once she's maxed she can't be caught, her special crosses the screen to reach shooters easily, and she's invincible doing it. Her double jump is also necessary to reach some bonuses and does wonder against birds and flying bosses. Bobby with high level was my big hitter for bosses, Eric used a bit for throwing back projectiles, and Presto is surprisingly powerful once maxed (=no mischance) ! I didn't use Hank nor Sheila at all (yet).

BOSSES AND DIFFICULTY
Zvitor said that every boss has a cheap way to be defeated with one char. I discovered these ways only for 3 bosses (Merlin and other-higher-flying-Merlin with Eric - quite obvious -, Orc Leader just jump/hit with Diana). Well, some bosses just won't be able to do anything in front of maxed Presto throwing non-stop fireballs, iceballs, thunder... Still, I'd like the savestate to work to be able to reload and try different strategies with different chars.
About global difficulty, i'd say game is quite easy with this tip at end of message : enough lives and credits to finish, and you don't lose upgrades with new credit. In other games, some bosses can't be beaten if you don't find the right way, but here, with enough lives, you can beat about every boss using Bobby's uppercut while beeing temporary invincible after a hit. Mashing Presto's magic button once maxed does wonder, too. Some bosses are very cheap (Manticore, last boss before Venger...)

OTHER
- Very nice firecamp scenes, Golden Axe style :)
- Bonus stages are so-so but that's my personal taste
- Funny ending

SOME QUESTIONS FOR ZVITOR
if you don't mind answering, of course :)

- Could you add a "continue story" option ? (but just like NightslashersX : load on last played stage, but with remaining energy/lives/credits, so save/load is not a way to get infinite lives ! but a very good way to train in later parts of the game and then try to make it without save/reload)

- First time i fought the troll on boat, the fight just timed out ; second time i was able to throw him in the sea. But i didn't see any change (same level after that, and no bonus). Do you confirm that throwing troll or just surviving enough time is the same ? Is it worth trying to kill this regenerating beast ? Is it even possible ?

- Does something special happen if Arthur survives the (second) fight with Warduke ?

- After finishing the game, I was told that I didn't max every weapon, go back to your world ! Does something happen (secret level ? different ending ?) if i max every char ?

about save to story mode, i had a problem to control global vars and saves, so just removed it.
but its not a long game, you can beat it between 1 hour and 1:30....

if you dont get all maps you will be stuck at this world, if you watched the show you will understand that, this show didnt had a final, so young ones are there forever, so thats how i figured a way to represent that, with this maps.

about be hard or dont have continues or cheats, when game have it, players just dont care about die, they play it like metal slugs at consoles, so i need to see how people react to challenges in game to get a better feedback, i can change that later, but at this first moment i want to see it

and yea.... game have a different final if you beat venger with all chars at level max, but there are at youtube some channels which did guides to get all.

sorry if i take so long to reply here, but type english at cellphone is a pain, it try auto fix all typed words :)
