Final Vendetta

For once I don't have a bad word to say 🤣 actually looks really good and I'm looking forward to playing it.

I don't it's actually related to Vendetta aka Crimefiighters 2 tho. No Konami logo. Looks fun, looks very sor-ish.
I agree, this doesn't have anything to do with Vendetta other than the male characters' superficial resemblance to Hawk and Blood. I wouldn't doubt it's meant as a homage though.

I'm not sold on the in game art and animation. What is it with modern beat em' ups lacking any real impact or interaction between combatants? Still looks interesting enough to give a go.

DC

Looks interesting. I love that they went for pixel art and used a KOF pixel art style at that (though much more primitive of course). I will probably buy this on day one just to support the beat em up genre & pixel art games.

Erm..about that I just had a play of it and I wouldn't recommend it, I really wished they used the OpenBor engine to make this game, basic stuff like button customization is missing, The animations are too slow and laggy and hitboxes feel a little off.

It does look and sounds great but the gameplay isn't. it can all be fixed but I really think they messed up with how it plays.

This time, I will not sound like a "embittered" (not sure of the word) guy who don't like when beat em ups are not the way he like it.
With tons of blind fanboys telling this stuff is perfect because *"something"*
That to say I definitely feel like you.

Decent art, good music.
Not feeling a good gameplay here.

To make it short : the spriter is USUALLY very skilled. But not really here.
Many animations looks "unfinished" or rushed. But you can definitly see quality behind it.
Some characters have some of the worst and unregular body proportions I ever saw in a recent beat em up. (again, this artist usually is very good with body definition)

Characters design is so so. some of them are decent/good. Duke, few bosses/enemies
Some of them looks uninspired and bland as f* : Claire, most of the enemies etc.

Choice of colors, details of BG, music... perfect... almost perfect. Very very pleasing tracks.
I like some touches like the fact you can use OTG moves like in Vendetta (Konami) Not so common.

Coding : full of small bugs, characters feel heavy like a tank (even Claire)
Many many not user friendly stuff.

As a Blaze fan, I mostly played this ugly uninspired bland kiddish character with "a cruel lack of flavor" named Claire (not sure the expression is correct in english)
her animations are very stiff, slow and rushed. (like Duke and Miller)
When you try using her jab multiple time, her arm stay straight (no recovery animation)
How can you fail the first attack?... Seriously.

Again, this spriter is skilled, I'm sure he had very limited time to complete the animations, it might be the reason, but the actual gameplay really don't help this game to feel good.

One more game I feel that can be way better with Openbor, and with some touches on the sprites. I'm waiting for game fixes, and hopefully a possible modding of the sprites. At least...

Lots of strange choices like unlocking training mode AFTER completing Arcade mode  Arcade mode you only get 6 lives and no continues

Same here... I naturally whent for training stage, then.. OK, this is something to unlock... 😤

The only sittuation it would work (to me) is if finishing some stages could unlock new moves, then finishing the game will give you the chance to experience new combos, etc before to get back to extra game mode or harder arcade mode...

But to be honest, I'm not even sure this game need a training mode.
After all my disapointement about SOR4, I feel like Sor4 training mode is useful, because there is some diversity in term of gameplay. here... hem...

I played it a bit, overall it is very generic. It got 19/25 of Beat'em Up Bingo! I can't see nothing new here unfortunately. Okay, I didn't see a cricket bat as a weapon before in any brawler.

Don't like the game sorry, holding a weapon in this game doesn't seem to have much advantage
also my ps3 controller not working? maybe I still don't know how to play this game properly
but overall I much prefer to play Mayhem Brawler

Just bought this game. I'll give it a try later. So far, I'm hearing that the game is very difficult, even on Easy difficulty. I think the lack of continues is to blame. It's also a weird decision if you ask me. I've never seen a beat 'em up where you don't have any continues.

Okay, so I just beat the game on my first try on Easy. There is no Normal difficulty. It just goes from Easy to Hard for some reason. Anyway, here are my thoughts:

Overall, I liked the game and I didn't think it was too difficult. The only thing that made it somewhat difficult for me is the lack of continues. I was on my last life while fighting the final boss and barely managed to beat him.

I'm not too big a fan of having to press two buttons at the same time when I want to do a back-attack or special attack. I like those to be a separate button. Maybe in a future patch? Aside from having no Normal difficulty, no continues and having to press two buttons for certain moves, I don't really have anything else to complain about.

I did forget about the vault move while you grab an enemy. Maybe it would make things a bit easier when it's crowded on the screen? I tend to forget about that move, even when playing Streets of Rage. The game is also on the short side. My time was 36 minutes or so. About the same as Turtles in Time for the SNES. Speaking of Turtles, that's gonna be the one I'll be playing next: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. I have a feeling that I'll be playing that game more than Final Vendetta.

I just beat the game too, it defiantly grows on you but still. If they just sped up the game play a little and fixed some of the collisions I could overlook the lack of features or how dead the stages feel, The soundtrack is absolutely banging though not heard anything like it in years. To emphasise my point in gameplay I sped the game up to show you guys and it plays much better.

Who's it please?
DOA687 He makes many anthropomorfic characters, and have also worked on some old SOR IV (cancelled) project with Kof styled sprites.
First screenshot I saw of the game, I immediately recognized his style. (but again... less polished / mastered here)

Just tried the Hard difficulty and, honestly, it wasn't that much harder than Easy for me. On Hard, you start the game with 5 lives, which is two lives less compared to Easy.

Another thing to know is that each stage has a hidden life somewhere. Look it up on YouTube to know about their locations. I had six lives left when I beat Hard difficulty. So yeah, knowing the locations helps greatly.

Like most beat 'em ups, once you get a feel for the game and know the enemies' moves etc., it's not so bad.
