But you like 'Super/Return of Double Dragon' (SNES), right? Otherwise, you wouldn't be making 'Legend of the Double Dragon' right now, I assume?

DD1, 2, 3 (all NES versions. I'm not a big fan of the arcade versions), Super DD and Battletoads Double Dragon are, in my opinion, the best games of Double Dragon. Not a big fan of DDIV to be honest. It just lacked something that the first three NES games have. I even like DD3 better than DDIV.

I'm assuming you also don't like the crossover with the Battletoads? Even though I love the game, I can certainly understand why anyone would hate it. It plays more like a Battletoads game than a Double Dragon game.
 
Of course I like BT&DD, it's just a different thing. SDD/ROTDD is one of my fave DDragon games; most people think it's a remake of the 1st game, which is not, it was an original story but the author never had the time and resources to finish it (for more info on that matter, read this: https://doubledragon.kontek.net/features/sddtruestory.html). The EU/JP version of the game had some diferences with the US version, but they are all incomplete after all.

I tried to replicate that unfinished plot with a previous DDragon mod from myself using GBA sprites, but now I'll do it with the proper ones, plus more, A LOT more.

I'm also a big fan of the NES games more than the arcade ones, with the exception of the 1st one wich I hate on NES, sorry hah, it's a different game plus no co-op mode kills it.

I really hate DDNeon cause it's not a DDragon game at all whatsoever, it's more Final Fight that DDragon. Don't expect power ups, level ups, health items on this mod, it won't feature any, just like the originals. DDragon V was just a commercial move, it sucks overall IMO.

Alrighty, I understand your opinion. Anyway, if I finish Sekka, i’ll post the results on DeviantArt and here, and have them up free to use. Also, does your dislike of most post-Super material include the Neo Geo game, the Zeebo game, and Wander of the Dragons?  Also, the Sekka sprites can be edited into Ayumi.
 
Updated the HUD a bit, now it resembles the SNES game. I'll make a new demo hopefully within this week.

V was based on an animated series that I'm assuming not too many people liked.

& NES Double Dragon had a dumb plot compared to the Arcade & was used as an excuse because "muh memory limitations"

I liked it. But can I make a suggestion? I think you are wasting space with the life counter positioned on that place.

Here are my two suggestions in the same image (for sure, you need to choose only one):

At Billy side, the life counter was moved next to the lifebar (both lifebar and power bar were resized), using the current life count font
At Jimmy side is the same thing, but I am using the same font of the character name.

Personally, I do prefer the Jimmy version. What do you think?
 
Yeah, i agree with O Ilusionista on this, plus you may also consider to make the screen a bit wider for having overal a little more room. My suggestion would be the custom resolution i'm using in my games like: "video 432x243"
 
This is a random thing.... but one silly bit of opinion on my part is the sound effects. I'm not big on the Bruce Lee voice effects, but if you must, I think they fit Billy better.

In most interpretations of the twins, Jimmy is the "older", more seasoned of the two, and uses a focused methodical style to land powerful attacks when the moment is right. Billy is the emotional one and relies on an aggressive approach with maximum tactical flexibility to make up for his recklessness.

So it just makes sense to me Jimmy would have the lower, calmer voice effects and let Billy do the screaming.

Only my opinion though. 😁

I have already made some changes to that HUD and the lives number. I removed the name of the characters from their icons, it's kinda redundant for this mod, or for a DDragon game anyways.

You see, there are DDragon games with Billy being the blonde guy, others with Jimmy being the blonde one, so I just added each others pallete as alt, and people can choose who's the blue Dragon the way they think it's the proper one, and this also solves the Bruce Lee dilema DC is having  ;D ('im actually adding your punches combo, editing these characters animation is hell, but I enjoy it). I wouldn't be able to change Jimmy's choice of voice since his moveset it's kinda Bruce Lee-ish, but hey just choose blue Jimmy & red Billy and problem solved  ;) Everytime I say I have the Dragons moveset done, a new idea comes to my sick mind LOL, I think I'll make a video demonstration/tutorial about the Dragons chain combos, I think people haven't realized about the potential here.

About the screen resolution, I'm using SNES original resolution, this way characters really pop up on the screen and also I can force me to avoid that cheap way to increase difficulty in a mod having about 100 enemies at the same time. I'm having problems in the video options menu since the text doesn't fit the screen.

This is just Billy, and i'm still creating custom sprites as you can see,  Astro/ Scorp kicks will be in the game heh

I´m really excited about all of this changes that you are doing on this masterpiece Mr Q,  Super Double Dragon is a very underestimate game in my opinion, it has excellent animations, the sprites are beautiful and the moves are very well done, but hey you are doing this game better and better each time you make something new, by the way I love the new moves for each dragon as well as the falling animation for the swordman enemy. I´m waiting this patiently, thanks for your great effort Mr Q.

I've been very very busy with my new job, but expect a demo this weekend, sunday at most. I've updated some chain combos so I need people testing these hundreds of possible combos and see if a bug comes up.  Also, script  peeps can check the mess I have there and see why some stuff is not working by now.

Once you release demo, I will play as beta tester, so I will reply if I find something wrong
 
Working on a video tutorial for this demo, it has plenty of moves to test and I'm afraid not everyone knew about the possible chain combos.
