NEW TMNT Sprites

Hello everyone.

I have always been a TMNT fan and recently I have been working on a custom sprite sheet for the Turtles. I know how to build Openbor mods but I am not the best by any means compared to what I have seen built by many of you.

Is anyone interested in using these Sprites when I finish them? I will complete all 4 turtles and will add weapon attacks as well.

I am trying my best to make them look like the TMNT from the original films though it will take time and I could use a partner. I kinda would like to see an openbor game based on the 1st film if possible but I will be happy just to see them being used at all.

When completed I think it would be cool to see them used in a Mortal Kombat Project Mugen Mod. What do you think?

I look forward to your feedback.

I like the sprite sheets so far! I would like to see the ninja turtles in a Mortal Kombat Mugen project and play as them in the future!

Thank You.

I Look forward to completing these then moving on to digitizing Shredder and Casey Jones.

Imagine Shredder versus Kung Lao!

Best of luck buddy. Sounds like a maddening process. In my Power Rangers Zeo, I'm limiting the frankesteining of sprites to the absolute minimum and it's still a huge pain in the rear.
Very curious to see how this develops.

perhaps contact cosplay groups and get people dressed up to do the poses etc you need. Im sure it wouldn't be too hard to organise.

sprites are looking good BTW so all the best either way

I was considering looking at cosplay images for the Shredder but then I cam across great images of the Neca TMNT realistic movie figures. I will those use as my sampling base. The tough decision is deciding what MK character will I utilize as a base to draw the Shredder. Any suggestions?

Thank You.

It is very time consuming but considering I am not working at the moment I have the sweet luxury of time.

if you have  kinect & powerful enough machines you could use the 3d models from injustice 2, & the kinect to give them that more human-like animation quality

this movie was made with Kinect for xbox one, i'm not sure if the toy scans where made with the Kinect sensor too.

if you go the toy route - there is some 3d scanners that can do color too,
doing this with 3D models & motion capture should save you lots of time, & might look better than stop-motion

I have the mini version of the NECA figurines if you need photos and angles etc for reference and to use for this project. Just let me know what you need, always happy to help

Awesome, I will hold you to that when I need it. Did you happen to order the new Neca Casey Jones?

Here is a peak at how the process goes. I retouch Jonny Cage and then afterwards I eventually beef up his shoulders, biceps, and thighs.

Then I add additional details and shading once I have already added the head. The shell and abdomens are the biggest pain in the...

For some additional motivation to this project it seems that Daniel Pesina himself actually liked what I have started to work on.  :)

no sorry just the turtles. they aren't as dynamic as you would hope for posing but if you take enough photos and poses etc im sure they could be useful

That's okay. :)

It would be very helpful If you can try your best to capture some images for the versus screen and a select screen.

I have NECA figs, big raphael and smaller turtles, no shredder, i did animation test with image from movie , i was planning to do sprites using neca figs in stop motion animations, kinda like they did goro, kintaro, sheeva and motaro in MK series with puppets, but it requires lighting setup and rig to keep figs still.
IMO it would be best way and i planned to use clay to cover some articulation pegs so turtles would look more seamless, not like figures, i also did some fast tests of walk
Or render realistic 3d model, that owuld require good renderer and light

And i think i would prefere to hire a guy who does stop motion animation instead of doing it myself, because he would do it better.

it has been a while that i checked out 3d scanning & motion capture tools, but since my big machine burned out it seems that things have been getting better.

Using the toys along with these methods:

Photogrammetry (this method has advanced big time)

And motion capture:

you should be able to get decent results.

MAn this machine.... is dying.  its been a week that it seems to freeze every now & then

well with that 3d model bWWd showed you could easily rig and have it perform animations in a program

https://www.mixamo.com/#/?page=1&type=Motion%2CMotionPack

you don't even need to download anything as you could record your screen and then take necessary screenshots of the model performing moves and then manually clean outside area.

you wont get all your dream animations but some should already be available and may help with the whole process.

Ive used the program for some enemies etc, and if I can use it then anyone can lol

this is fantastic.

i have managed to see other sketchfab renders on other machines before (this one can't load it)
& if i'm not mistaken you can also render them i silouette mode ( a black shadow basically) so clean-up should be very easy if dantedevil manages to render a dark black model (to work as a mask)  & a normal model...
