Yeah, SJ night not be a good idea just yet, if at all. I did have some ideas for Rottytops of all people to get in.
 
I agree with nsw25, we need to clear up all the confusion caused by multiple variants of the game without change-logs and by adding custom cut-scenes for the characters. I’m not fond about adding Sailor Moon characters as well.

Sadly this game has many undocumented moves that forced me to build a move-list for my own good by both play-testing in the 1st stage and checking the characters .txt files (I’m not expert of openbor coding). I post it here because I would like to know if there are even more moves I’m not aware of, so any addition to my move-list is encouraged, thank you in advance.


I built the list based on Blaze Rhodon’s version (thank you for that), but I think I have stin’s Night Slashers X as well, if someone can tell me the difference between the two versions is welcome. My list doesn’t describe the moves unless it’s strictly necessary, my purpose is a "how to" only aimed at performing the moves and perhaps to not spoil the moves, anyway I modified it for hopefully an easier reading on this forum; anybody is free to make a version with buttons and joystick images, animated gifs and a better formatting...

NOTES.
-I'm considering a player facing to the right and hands free: I see that many of the moves (mainly specials) can’t be performed while holding a weapon, if some arms allow to perform extra moves, let me know. Also, take into account that I don’t know if in the game there are vehicles to drive of any sort. I built this list before starting to really play it (but I'll wait for a definitive release at this point).

-Execution of the moves is almost identical for all the players and I’m using Jasmine as default (she has a few extras, but I’M JUST TALKING about her arts...), any small difference is noted where due.

-Not working moves, copied from the code.
com u d j freespecial2 (I guess it means: ↑ ↓ + jump)
com d u j freespecial4 (↓ ↑ + jump)
com b b s freespecial9 ( ← ← + back).
I noticed these not working moves share the same freespecial number with actually working moves…I don't know if it's some sort of conflict or necessary code.

A: attack button
J: jump button
B: block/specials button
Arrows: for directions, no arrows means neutral.

The moves.

A+J: special move (costs energy, you can move around using the arrow keys with Jake)
Taunt: apparently has only an eye-candy purpose. If you've a weapon you discard it.

While you’re grabbing an enemy (Jake can move around while grabbing one)

(note: grabbing combos have 3 hits per type and the 3rd one will KO (but not necessarily kill) the enemy, but you can extend the number of hits by changing the arrow key before performing the 3rd hit and then pressing A to your liking, but beware that moves requiring a single pressing of A are throws or self finishing combos)

Moves with B button
B: blocks one attack
B + (evading move, only for Jasmine)
+ B (keep pressed B to increase power, then release it)
↑ ↓ + B (costs energy)
↓ ↑ + B (costs energy)
B used as counter attack: press B repeatedly right before (or while) a foe is attacking and hitting you,  if you’re fast and lucky enough a martial move with a thunder-like hit-spark will be performed, knocking down theopponents in front of you. I guess this move is almost useful to break enemies combos. As said above, it can actually be performed right before an enemy’s move reaches you, but it’s too hard to perform it with this purpose in mind (it’s better to use normal attacks at this point ).

Specific player states.

While you’re KO on the ground (but still alive)
- keep pressed any arrow key to perform an evading move in that direction
or
- keep pressed A for a rising attack

While you’re flying because of a hit: press J while still on the ascending phase of the fall (so you’ve to be fast) to turn it to an evading jump, with a small energy recovery included.
 
Quick note, a lot of moves have a more powerful alternate that replaces the original when life is low. Several of Jake's grapples come to mind. If you are documenting these, it would likely be more efficient to find the trigger scripts. Look for anything comparing HP and you should find them.

There might be other conditions too, like partner status, low/high mp, or whatever else, but I don't know of anything for certain. You'll just have to mess around trying stuff or really pour through the scripts to see what's in there.

Interesting, I didn't notice that change, but only a minor thing like a different running attack when closer to an enemy, but I'm new to this game after all. So you're referring to the moves that I couldn't perform, another day I'll test them in game on low energy with everyone to see if they exist, but after that I'll have a more "scientific" approach and search through .txt files again ( I don't know scripts but I'll give a try, the <<com “key sequence” freespecial>> really helped me make this move-list).

Also The character have to be a bonus one, not a regular one. I would suggest Mars, since she have tons of custom sprites done ^^

All sailor scouts have extra animation that was included in the arcade.  many years, Makron  From Sailormoon Fourms hacked the arcade game and found many animations and game ending buried.

These missing animations include all specials and block animations from the ice stage.

A few of Sailormoon’extra animation is in my mod.

it works with the lastest openbor , but it seems to have graphic glitches.

Also i found this other version, & it has the missing elements that i could not fix:

Thanks for getting this uploaded to the new forum @danno! I associated it with this discussion forum. That adds a button on the download page that leads here, and also places a download button for the game in this thread.

Night Slashers X is still one of the most fun OpenBOR powered games out there. Everyone should give it a try!
 
Game keeps freezing (not responding) on startup for a minute or two before freeing up again.

Also ran into a bug where I paused the game as Chris right when I died and softlocked the game.

Playing on a laptop. Model is a Samsung I've had since 2010. The full log couldn't be posted so I only copied what I played up to level 1

I do see an error, but not sure if its the real culprit or not. If the whole log won't fit as a post, try attaching the file instead. I'll also tag @danno. He's been working on an update and may have more insight.

Game keeps freezing (not responding) on startup for a minute or two before freeing up again.

Also ran into a bug where I paused the game as Chris right when I died and softlocked the game.
The game has a notorious loading time at start up even looks like it hangs for a minute but it's ok it eventually gets there.

I was unable to recreate the soft lock while paused, there's nothing I can change even so because it's an secure Pak file, I am working on a big update due to be released next year but will be releasing a smaller update end of this year replacing Jasmin with Hong hua and a ton of bug fixes and optimization
