Openbor on Ubuntu

hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and I don't know if the category to ask is right.
I have a mini pc with ubuntu updated to the latest version with the added retropie system, with the pi4 I can start it without the help of ports, but in this setup I can't get it to work.
I wanted to ask if anyone has succeeded and how? The guides I find are for raspberry or windows but I can't find anything about it

You have 2 options.

The first, download the source code and compile it on the PC with ubuntu. 100% sure it works, but I don't recommend it unless you have experience building linux applications.

The second, and the one I recommend. use this version of openbor
Inside you will find a file called Openbor.AppImage which is a portable version of openbor for linux (Thanks to msmalik681).
You give it execution permission (right click and mark the execution permission in properties) and that's it.

EDIT:
My mistake, the above is to run openbor on ubuntu, and I just realized that you also need to configure it in retropie. I haven't used retropie for many years and I couldn't tell you how to configure it today, I don't even know if it will already come with an openbor executable. Excuse my mistake.

I tried with this site, but I can't install it following the code.
I would need to integrate it into the retropie installed on ubuntu, but I think it can't be done

Welcome to the community @Mario Mix.

There is a RetroPi OpenBOR, but it's an unofficial port we don't have anything to do with and AFAIK has quite a few compatibility issues.

@msmalik681 could help you with running OpenBOR on Ubuntu for PC, but you might just be out of luck trying to run it on a Pi.

from what I understand... in retropie in the ports subfolder it's a mess and also incompatible, as a separate program to use on ubuntu or pc that works fine for me and on retropie with a pi4 it's fine, it was to have it in this version too, ie ubuntu and retropie
