Palettes, The Easy Way

Palettes, the easy way

You know what, O? I started to make one character sprite one time when I attempted to make it as a character until I reached the palette section and then I stopped. I don't do Mugen anymore so I ended up working on other OpenBOR projects of mine.

I always thought that the transparent color goes to the bottom left according to Fighter Factory. Now I see it's to the bottom right.

Pretty great tutorial. :D

yes, its the bottom right, the last spot.
and man, there is a way to use mugen sff in bor (you already know it, but its new to me), its pretty helpful.

Yes. It's simple. You can extract .sff files from any Mugen char making program (especially Fighter Factory) to .pcx files. I use MCM the most. For sounds, I use Fighter Factory.

no, using OpenBorStats, right on the fly.
Let me progress more with Bor and I will invite VirtuallTek here, so he can make a tool like FF to BOR :)

Just to update this: The method is the same if you use a more recent version, like Fighter Factory Studio.

Here, in red, will extract all colors from all sprites and build a palette for you

The next button does the opposite - it will apply the current palette on all files, really fast.

YOU. ARE. A. LIFESAVER! I was trying to add palettes without success and couldn't find a tutorial! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!

You are welcome :)

For making palettes (and applying them)? Yes.
It's pretty much the best option available.

You can use this program for some other things, like sprite alignment, sound resample, etc excluding coding... For now.

But I will bring some good news about this soon ;)

nsw25  try here:

If you want the version I used on this tutorial, go here http://fighterfactory.virtualltek.com/ffc-1-2-0

nsw25 FFC will support only PCX for that.
You can download the Studio version and follow this step above

Sorry, the steps to use FFS is a bit different - its easier in fact.

1- After extracting all the colors from the image, you will have a palette with all colors.
Now select the background color which is showing on your image (on my case, its a dark blue) and select (holding CTRL) the color you want to change place (in my case, pink) - look at green arrows

2- Now press the "Exchance the position of the selected colors " (marked in yellow on the image above or in green on the next image)

3- Now save the palette as a file (this icon), just save you some time

4- now apply this palette to all images

By the way, this is NOT an virus alert

Look at this image, I can guess your background color is green, right?
But take a look - you have two spots for almost the same color and this will give you trouble

Yes. Double check the images or you can delete one of the greens form your palette so it will, in most cars, Force the right one on the fly

You are welcome.
In fact this is a Mugen tutorial, which can be used on OpenBOR too. This is why it's here.
But I will think about
