The project is currently under development.
I mean make a option in the game settings, if possible:
play either just the vanilla stages, or the full sf89s story, with your custom levels, the way you see the game.

Hmmm... The idea is interesting.
Perhaps in the end such a "game mode" can be unlocked "Original Final Fight arcade"
When you complete the game 1 time.
So people who want to experience an Openbor conversion of FF1 will try it.
Not sure it is a priority, but it can be interesting.

I don't plan on making option just for vanilla stage, mainly for two reasons:
1. because my mod is not a remake but my own version of the final fight
2. this is to avoid something, chronocrash may be a place like heaven for modders, people here are also very kind and respect each other
but don't forget there are other places out there that like to copy and paste everything and take other people's work. In short is, I just make my mod more difficult for them to copy and paste while they would easily do that with the vanilla version

Initially my message was based on SandMartin suggestion.
Of course I prefer original stuff, with more custom content.
No need for an exact clone to me. :)

Same for the fact enemies have different difficulty, or the fact Maki is here ;)

And yes, I'm soooooo ok with you for the fact some people out there will try to use the mod, editing it, claim as their work, even trying to sell it...
particularly if it's "accurate".

This is for such reasons that my mugen projects are "obscure" characters no one care about, and are nothing like accurate to any source. (sprite edited, design changed a bit, different /non accurate move list, tweaked game mechanics)
A nightmare for someone who want to put them in one more mugen compilation and sell it, making money through patreon only access etc.
 
Yeah I kinda prefer different stuff rather the vanilla one. Some people like to have a one-to-one conversion, but I always found amazing to have different twists.

I had an idea that was more or less exactly like this when I was working on the industrial stage
this is why I made this stage with an elevator that goes to a certain floor before go to boss

I originally planned to have multiple elevators going to a certain branch so players can choose one of them in first play and different elevator in their next play
but with this I have to design each floor differently so the game doesn't feel boring, after making for some floors I just feel my design wasn't so satisfying and I finally decided to cancel this idea.
(In the end I only use 3 of the 7 floors that I originally prepared)

sorry I didn't have as much time as last year (covid pandemic) so the update takes a rather long time
I'm also busy looking for a new place to live so nowadays real life consumes a lot of my time

Sorry I still keep you waiting for Maki update, but, It's still in my schedule ! I will finish what I started ;)

I'm giving you a better default one, because snes color Maki have too vivid colors compared to CPS1 characters

BTW, when I see this exclusive MegaCD stage, I feel like recoloring some parts...
THe colors are very limited (or not well choosen) compared to CPS1 colors.^^
 
I like that new stage area that Maki is fighting the mad gear on, is it part of the West Side stage?

I've been trying to include chinatown into metro city for years however I haven't got the result I want
even I've tried to make it night to get on the west side and still I don't like the result. Ned is right this stage color is very limited and ended up making it difficult for me

Yes I know.. can't wait to see your Maki cps1 color edit 😘
but I will still include the original Snes color for choice because I love original stuff too much

A preview of what I'm making for this project. (mostly based on Miyabi's Kof Maki design - scalled... I edited face into what would look like a Snes base Maki in in CPS1 size)

I also did a custom palette to match a bit more CPS1 colors (outdated sprite, but palette is good for CPS1 style I think. Less saturation here)

Same here.. I love Electro's work, he always makes something new which looks very official
I still remember being very happy when I first time try to put his cps1 cody jail to my mod, it looks very blended
