The poses themselves are good I think.
But you should try to add transition frames.
By having a look at SFA3 and try to replicate the amount of sprites.
perhaps one more for juggling and one more for the launch part.

still want to edit the frames #4 if possible

the original does have few additional animations on the final frames

Something to take in consideration is about the actual 3 first frames after the juggle (on this last picture)
(hard to explain, but) These 3 frames have very small leg movement. I mean he almost don't move his feet. This is why there is no need of more frames in this SFA3 anim.
But perhaps in yours the steps are a bit wider.

Yes, perhaps just one transition frame aftyer the launch to come back to a regular stance.
I wish I can help you with that, but I'm already working on Guy run in my free time ^^

However if you cannot fix it yourself. I'll try it for you later.
 
spawn01 for thrown stones or?

yeah and make sure the thrown entity has a landframe after being tossed, maybe add reactions to the entity too like a reaction when hitting another entity and reaction when hitting the floor (base) if it doesn't hit another entity.

Will he throws a stone everytime? Even when you are on a stage where there is no stone floor?

Yes he will find and throw a stone anywhere 🤭 in aplha 3 is also the same right? or he can only throw at certain stages?
 
@machok I ended up playing the demo! Congratulations and thanks for the work! I particularly loved the stages's extentions, it is done very organically. It gaves a really good feeling to visit more the city and reflesh the original game. (y)
It's full of FF passion and the great will to enhance the material!

I'm gonna still tell you my complains, sorry. ^^
The attack and body boxes feel a little too big to me, even in z axis. Sometimes I sudenly lost a life without understanding why (time out, maybe). I couldn't deal with many enemies. And sometimes food are duplicated without a reason.

Anyway keep up the good work! ;)

Looks ok to me.

tried it in game and it looks good (I mean nothing looks out of place), only the problem cody alpha3 has quite different moves from cps1 and this does make it difficult

Yes there are several movements that must be removed or corrected

Sometimes I sudenly lost a life without understanding why (time out, maybe).

This is why ff gold is too easy to hack, I just copy-paste eveything and it works automatically
Of course this is a good thing and can make things easier for modder who are still learning like me but in other situations it could be bad

Also, not sure for the tornado sprite... It have some "anime" style fitting with SFA3 but not with FF.
I'm not sure about the sprite used in FF Gold. Sure thing it's from a 16bits game. But does this game have an arcade game equivalent?
I'm not sure scalling it would make good results.
If not, perhaps using some oldschool screw upper sprite of Joe Higashi could be right ... I don't know.

ff gold tornado sprite was too small so I change it with alpha3 version so yeah that makes it look too anime 🤭
I like it because the big size, yeah need to re-colored first

*btw cody tornado can't be used like hadoken (example: d f a) since I don't like it
this tornado can only be done if the player manages to do a combo first

I mean I don't remember if twice a same food appeared in the same room but two big foods, yes, if I'm right. I played through just once, so I can't tell where.
 
I forgot to mention that there is no unity through the musics. Sometimes it's from the arcade game, other times it's CD quality. Is it on purpose or do you have other plans for an update?

hmm for the music I only use music with a fast beat, I even edited the cd version a bit. So this is just my personal taste
players can replace them easily of course. No plans for this section at the moment

real question : Is the size the real problem to you ?

If so, I can scale it.
In such effects, it could be done with rotsprite without needing much fixes.

I mean it just looks like a common tornado, not small but a bit skinny and old while the alpha 3 looks more like a vortex.

That’s because of time-out.
A second in Openbor is much shorter than a second in the arcade game. Probably the arcade used a custom length as a variable and not real-time seconds.

@machok i think the small tornado looks better. Maybe there’s another tornado sprite on some 16-bit fighting game (samurai showdown, fighters story, tanks etc…)

Got it...
I have an idea but it would require long time...
Like adding details and "texturing" to this vortex type tornado... ^^;
