Streets of Rage 4

Shiva will not even make an appearance. Believe in me.

He will be a dlc char (or a dlc episode with him)

I can see some heroes as dlc too.

Great news, thx for the share! \o/

I'm not fan of the beard, either, but Blaze's look rocks! A game with drawn style was what I expected, so I'm really glad about it. ^^ I can't wait hear some musics, I can't reduce this aspect, especially about a SoR.
ATM, the disappointment is the low number of chars. I hope Axel is not such a slow fighter that he seems to be. And okay for reviewing former thugs but I hope new bosses like the intro show one. This game can be crazy or anecdotal, time will see!

What is disappointing however is that it looks like they'll play it safe gameplay-wise. I hate that. I know Dintheabary's version will blow this game out the water.

Hm.... finally it happen. But is it pleased me?. no
I dont like anything of what i`ve seen and I do not share your joy, guys :(

First of all graphics. I've never been a connoisseur of this kind of drawing. It looks like indie side project with lack of budget. Its blury and lack of details. We have a great examples of ones that looks 10 times better (Showel Knight, new Paprium (absolutely amazing)), that using pixel art style. But this is a piece of fan sketch art (but who am i to judge, if its less time consuming and cheaper, right? ..ooh whom I try to deceive, we already have Sonic 4 P1&2..)

Characters. Well guys, even if you trying to make an overall feel that time has passed since 3rd game, by just adding Axel a beard, you need to try better, a waaaaaay better.
-- lyrical digression --
What was great about trilogy, new next game was enchanced wersion of previous, in terms of graphics, storytelling, and plot. First one was about crime gang, in second with a time criminals got a new robots, jet-guys, more technical environment like elevators, factories and own base, in third they got much more robots, and related story, that was actually great (if not that soundtrack... aghh) and with that time goes as well
--
..So you can not just make same enemies, just back all them to a streets and say "yay guys just brawl, yay this is a price of fourth instalement". You need! to think HOW to continue this serie with logic story. Some of you may say "How? Put much more robots in it? Bring them to space?" No, you can expand franchise not in height but in width. Take in mind that you can not make a new Streets of Rage game just an old-fashioned brawler like 1st game was ..not after mr.X brain exploding thing in 3rd one (there is so much possible interesting variants to do). You can, of course, but do not name it 4th, make prequel if you can not handle it, do not ruin a franchise (because if you do, im sure 5th game will never came out, we have an examples)
Back to characters Axel looks like a teenager with beard, Blaze looks like a teenager, where is our detective-woman? All enemies have exactly same look, why not redesign them a little, just a time relateable? Even if only year have passed, i dont like that gangs are still same.
I am pretty sure that characters will be at least 3 but 3d is still in progress and nothing to show for now.
With animation they stick to a number of frames that 2nd and 3rd game has i`ve noticed, nothing much to say, this is not a big deal, will se how it will feel ingame.

Nothing to judge on music side, because we have not hear anything for now. Trailer music is not a SoR even close, i think some of new retrowave / synthwave tune makes it better. Mr Koshiro stays in our dreams, so moving next...

.. And that is it. I have never imagine that SoR4 announcement will make me so sad..
As for me i see a 4th SoR several years after 3rd, in a bit cyberpunk-ish time, Snatcher- or Policenauts- kind maybe, with SoR relate/tribute soundtrack, with all playable characters grown up, facing new threat. But this.. name it whatever you want: SoR Origins, SoR Prequel, SoR Weird Sequel, but not 4th just only because it is comes out after 3rd one...

Waiting for any new news, but for now disappointment.

Why ditch Adam again he was the best character in SOR 1.
Agreed, and him being in the remake is one of the reasons it was as awesome as it was, especially when they used original sprites for him before the game was done.

x)

I really like the beard. I think it suits him. Shows that some time has passed between the third game and the fourth game. I also really like the design of Blaze. I do hope Adam will be playable for you guys. I've never really liked his playstyle so I never chose him as my character. My favorite is Blaze in all three games and my brother's favorite is Axel in all three games. So we're both good to go with this new game.

I wouldn't actually mind having the same enemies again. We had the same enemies in three games and it never got dull (to me) back then, so why would it be wrong now to have the same enemies?

As far as the story goes, I do hope it will be as detailed as in the third game. But if it goes back to a very basic and simple story, you don't hear me complain. Most beat 'em ups that I know have a simple plot, so I'm pretty used to having one. As long as the game is fun to play, then I'm happy ;) From what we've seen in the trailer, my brother and I are hyped to play this game.

The only thing that I'm really hoping for is a better soundtrack than the one we got in Streets of Rage 3.

Oh wait, this is official?

Oof... I was assuming this was just a really well-made fangame. I didn't realize SEGA were behind it.

That's... yeah... If this was a fangame, it looks really impressive, but for an official game... eek.

I mean, SEGA shut down the SoR Remake, so they probably have some idea how much content that FANgame had, and yet so far it's looking like we only get two characters in SoR 4. I feel like this might end up being a really watered down cashgrab, but still, I'll try to keep hope alive.

But...

I 100% agree. I have never been so excited for a fangame since I first discovered Avengers: United Battle Force (and you guys probably know how much I love that game by now). The Streets of Rage Remake is the definitive SoR fangame, but Din's project will likely blow that out of the water too. Honestly every time I see a new SoR fangame it just makes me wish that Din's was finished or at least had a demo out.

I think the first thing that caught my eye was a lot of fans, minutes after the trailer was posted, start filling the video with comments "Only 2 characters? Where are the other characters! GRRRRRR ..."

Calm down for the sake of * enter here the entity you believe *, lol.

The other thing that caught my attention was that, just after the trailer, I already had Youtuber making a video entitled "KNOW ALL ABOUT STREETS OF RAGE 4!". The game was announced yesterday, with a trailer that does not show much, without revealing to what systems it will be available, how many characters, etc, etc ... Then someone runs and does a "KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT SOR4!"

Then you access the video, and the obvious comes:

- No number of players
- No release date
- No info on systems
- Has no new images
- Basically, it has NO information that you did not know

Sorry for the rant, but this is behavior that I find extremely irritating.

-----

About the game itself, there are things I liked, things I did not like and things that left me divided.

WHAT I LIKED
- Finally revived this franchise
- The companies involved did a great job on WonderBoy
- Axel bearded, because it gives an older appearance to him and, perhaps, indicates that it is not a reboot but a continuation.

WHAT I DIVIDED
- The style that was used. I do not know if it matches the type of game

What i did not like
- While Axel looks older, Blaze seems to be the same age still.
- The atmosphere of the game, it seems to me less "punk" than the original.

About Axel beard:

I wonder if the other characters will age like our main pair here. Imagine a mustachioed Max, an adult Skate, and A fully robotic Zan.

Would be cool. I'd like to see that, actually.

HAHAHAHAHAHA  ;D

Ahem, back to topic of Streets of Rage 4, I could care less about graphics. Axel is bearded, okay time has passed. But only him and Blaze?? I really hope there will be unlockable heroes, otherwise this will be disappointing  >:(

& I hope they actually have the characters use more attacks that reflect their given fighting style. eg, Blaze actually using more Judo techniques.
