Project is completed.
I have to say I'm really impressed :) The additions to the characters are great, especially Vega and Bison. They feel more authentic now. I LOVE Vega's Izuna Drop. It's tricky to pull off but so rewarding, especially if you grab a Poison out of the air. I always wished Chun Li's bounce kick worked the way it did in Street Fighter so that change is great! I don't play T.Hawk much but his changes feel good too :)

Unlocked Akuma and he's decent :) I dunno why I thought he'd be a little more interesting but it's nice to have another character all the same.

Thanks a lot for making this already great game even better!

I'm interested in seeing what comes next. You said it's 80% complete. Will any more characters be getting updates?

EDIT: Is Akuma's Down, Down+Attack input just an evasive move or is there some kind of chain?

Akuma is decent and not that interesting. You made my day Psykai.
He's just an OP shoto with a stylish do and a tan. Nonetheless a great addition to the roster.

I also greatly appreciate the polish you have given to the other character's moves, Don Drago. They feel much more accurate now and thanks to that the gameplay got way more entertaining!

I wanted to add an idea or two.
Could you add a kick input after Cody's Air Uppercut? I feel like he's gonna do the motion for a kick at the end but it never happens, so it would be amazing if you could press the button at the right time and have him pull out that kick before landing.
Also, I feel like Haggar is probably the least fun character out of the whole roster and also the slowest one. Maybe something could be done there?

Anyways, these are not requests, just ideas I would love to see in a possible update. You have already made the game more fun and for that alone I think many of us are greatful. Thanks for that!

Akuma's power lies on his juggling combos. Tatsumaki Zankukyaku -> Gou Shoryuken is a given. Also, his super, with the right timing, can hit juggled opponents, leading to some nasty combos, like:

punch combo -> Tatsumaki -> Tatsumaki ->  Shun Goku Satsu

AAAND... he has some nasty evasive tactics with DD jump and DD attack. All in all, Akuma is a swiss knife. You'll notice that when you face CPU Akuma.

W00t? Never said that. I said I was done with it.

It's his plain teleport. AND he has a backwards one: DD + jump

AAAAND he has QCF + jump as well.

Cue CPU Akuma showing the OP part.

Maybe one day... maybe not... if you look closely, many chars need improvement. And what's worse? enemies need it as well. Abigtail misses his throw. Same for Andore. Rolento misses his granade barrage.

Not to mention stage tricks, like being able to climb over barrels. Maybe even being able touse the subway timeout trick... AND ADD A SECRET STAGE WITH THAT  ::)

This update looks very good!
But wath's the problem with this patch?
I can not unzip the files and It's no problem with the antivirus.
If someone can share a new link for the pacth I will appreciate it very much.
Thanks.

im sure there is no issue of you uploading the complete version instead of a patch.
I think the same my friend!
I do not understand why they did not do that from the beginning.

It is rare to see the message:
If you can't patch, just don't patch. I won't answer to "Help! Can't patch!", "Is this a virus?"
We're supposed to be here to share and help each other.

Hope someone can help here I am excited to play this update I only have an android device and can't seem to get it working was wondering if anyone knows what android version to use to get the game working thx in advance for any help in advance

Drago comes from the same school of me: we respect the original creators and don't go using or releasing stuff from other people without their consent.

^ This.

And no, people. You don't just add something on other person's work and release another game.

You can't compare "use some assets" with "use the whole work with a few  modifications".

Pierwolf worked on this game for months. I just added 2 weeks of extra work.

You may claim "share and help" but nothing prevents you from opening the patched game and using the content I added.

Of course, if you insist on this line of thought, nothing prevents you from posting the patched game elsewhere...

hi everybody.
I've yet to try the modification Don Drago has done; from the description it seems he fixed many of the things i was planning to do, great work!  :)
and i respect Don Drago for making a patch instead of taking my original game and release it as his own.

anyway, i can understand that everyone here has used some assets from other creators, it's the fastest and better way to learn of to make games with openbor, and many of the sprites we use are not original creations, but things like ripping sprites, coding chars etc... it's very time consuming thing and i think that if someone take a completed game, add a char or two, and claim it as his own it's not fair. I for one have always respected the original creators and never used more than, let's say, 5/10% of other assets in order to make my ones.
one thing is making a char or two, or using some stages, another is making a full complete game, in terms of time consuming.

said that, i can't wait to try it! from the videos it seems cool! In the next days, if time permits i will test it and maybe add a complete version with his modifications.

also, i'm sorry if my "taste for secret characters" don't match with some of you other users. i'm an old guy and i'm old school; I find fanboysm stupid; i like strong fighting women fighters, i can accept a Chun li or Tyris Flare, but i find absurd that small underage skynny girls (as the chick with the school outfit and the bag in aggressors of dark kombat) or chicks with big boobs in bikini fight like men as main characters, and since nowadays this is the trend, i don't like see this type of modifications in any of my games. It's my personal taste and i'd liked this to be respected, please.

feel free to use my games as a base to learn how to make yours, but i don't support the add of this type of chars as patch of any of my openbor games.

have a nice day everybody!  :)

I guess I'll never see Kisarah in Fighter's history revenge,  :'(
But now I understand and know why.

Anyways, thanks for the explanation. I really respect Pierwolf and all the great creators here at a 100% rate.
I know too that saying we would like to see this or that in a Mod don't harm nobody
.And I know that if a Modder would put everyone's favorite characters in the games,  the mod would end up with like 70 chars and that's would be absurd. ;)

To be fair having a lot of things you don't have control of, or having stuff you don't like is really stressful in a BoR mod, moreso if it doesn't fit with the ideas you have in mind. I see why.

On the other side this is really motivational. Somebody made Akuma playable in this mod and I did a somewhat playable Li Hua in the old FHR. On what regards characters, I have a huge knack for obscure chars instead of the iconic ones, and seeing my main character in Kaiser Knuckle was refreshing, even tho she's "lol ninja girl" - a thing I'm going to reference in my future mods, for sure.

I'd be putting Kisarah on my mods too, but I don't have any idea on what to do with that GanGan move where she make the enemies fall in love and then kiss Joe in front of her eyes, not to mention that "levitating kick" hyper combo in NGBC was aesthetically lacking. Perhaps Marian or Rebecca from that Double Dragon game would be good replacements or even Tia Langray - of which I'm already working on.

In the end there's something that holds us together and I don't think it would hurt putting a character you like in a mod you like, right? Either for learning purposes or just to have fun. I remember playing with RPG Maker and picking characters I liked, changing their class to "Kunoichi" and altering their stats so they're agile spellcasters.

Sit down. Long post ahead.

In fact, this patch only exists because footage was "leaked" (look at latest posts on your original thread). The intention was for asking you before any of it was even known. But we got some "ZOMG! ZOMG! DO WANT"... and I pondered  hard about how to appease people and still respect your work. Then I remembered my past patching Neo Geo roms and... patch was born.

I think we should mirror open software community. If I try and make some chars, assets, whatever, and add in my copy of your mod for personal use, it's fine. But, when we talk about releasing it to the public, the original mod author must decide if it fits, is compatible, bug-free, and release it ... or not.

When you do it, I'll end this thread right away, since it will be meaningless. And rest assured: if you need help, we're here.

That only reaffirms what I said about open source software. Anyone can change OSS. The author decides what to accept or refuse.

As I said before, nothing prevents you from adding resources yourself it's openBOR for a reason. The bad practice is trying to make a public release of it. Public showcase is... a gray area. Some don't mind it, some do.

I think the same I said to D@rin applies here. Nothing wrong doing it - heck, you may add Thanos or Haruhi - but releasing to the public with the full game without author's consent is another history.

Sorry I'm not complaining or anything, and sorry if I looked bossy,  I just trying to say now, after Pierwolf's explanation I understood why sometimes we don't see THIS or THAT character. It is up to the creator to decide who will be the players, stages , enemies etc. But like always to suggest is not to demand.  I'm luck to find so many great games here and to participate this comunity since Lavalit. ;)

So Don Drago, any thoughts on doing the SOR heroes next after Akuma? Or maybe a playable Poison? I could help you with those if you want.

You got it "backwards". I just said that the "I guess I'll never see Kisarah in Fighter's history revenge" isn't quite true.

I think you didn't get the point. If you look here (last line), here (about "add Gouken")and mainly here (about adding something in another people's work), it becomes clearer: wrong person to ask, buddy. If you're working on SOR characters for this game, Pierwolf is the one to talk to, not me.

Alright, I'll discuss with Pierwolf about it.

This is why I respect you the most, Pierwolf. I wish everyone thinks this way, but saddly its not the case and people even support the opposite.
But its life, what you can do?

Thanks for being an inspiration, dude.

Definitly.
I personally used The awesome Super Fightin' Spirit as a base for my game "system".
Step by step I deleted and replaced stuffs.
Finally, my game system/mod have perhaps less than 1% of bWWd original work.
But I could never progressed in my project without his work (and his help as well)

In the past I did the same with BloodBane's Crime Buster.
Just by adding a character and editing some system.
But It was only a "private" experiment to understand Openbor.

If I give a try at editing your Fighters History mod in the future.
It will certainly be to understand certain mechanics or create something completly different. Thinking of the experience system and stuffs.
