Damn thanks for letting me know. Seems like the windows OpenBOR binary I packed is out of date.

You should be able to run the .pak with an up to date OpenBOR.exe (edit : works with this one). I'll update the file as soon as I can though (edit : done).

Content wise, there is not much new : Iron Tager is playable and the battle with Chang at the end of the snowy moutains level has been reworked (now you need to help him protect his treasures).

Tips for the protecting mission :
- Try not to mess with Chang so that he'll do most of the protection job for you
- Taunt enemies to attract them on your characters instead of the targets to protect
- Set your allies in the new stronghold mode near some targets and defend the others. To set an ally in stronghold mode, just hold the order key a bit before releasing it.

Under the hood, there are quite a lot of new things in this demo :
- Intro is now a level so in the future I could create cool animated stuff with it
- Character select now use the system I created to select & summon allies in previous build. It's main advantages are that it shows a select grid and doesn't require entities to be loaded (great to speed up the boot of a game with loads of playable characters).
- Pause menu is now a custom scripted menu
- Added a new scripted retry system that uses checkpoints. You can see how it works if you fail the protection mission in the snowy moutains.
- Inputs are now pre-processed so that buttons combinations won't trigger the default action associated to the single buttons that make them.

Mika is pretty advanced but still needs a lot of work. She'll probably be the next character to join the game though  ;)

PD:
I found a rare bug in the circus stage.
When playing with Hulk and lost all lives, then press start to continues the game.
Then after the select the character,  the select screen never goes. Then select again and again, in certain moment the game start to spawn all the characters selected every time, until the game crash.
 
demo is just so good, well done Piccolo, awesome work.
It crashes a lot when loading levels but when it works its just awesome. I don't know if this is a design choice but batman cant jump attack.

Damn it's getting hard to add new stuff without increasing the crash possibilities. I focused too much on bug-fixing the snow stage though, I'll need to track the bugs that have emerged because of the new stuff in the previous ones.

And nope Batman should be able to jumpattack, it's just one of the many things I forget to do. Thank you for letting me know !
 
Don't worry this is why its called a demo :)
If I find anymore bugs I will report back.
PS: the title screen animations when you select a char are awesome.

I fixed two of the big problems (the no more lives bug and the roundness festival stage crash). I'll update the demo tomorrow.
 
It's a pretty well made mod as of this particular time. I really enjoy the variety of techniques applied among the playable characters in question. A feature that is not too common upon other mods, with all due respect of course.

This mod is not without it's flaws I'm afraid. My main gripe with this game is how the command list operates in it's current state. It's rather frustrating for me having to keep up within the time frame a specific branch of commands remain visible before it disappears.

May I suggest a feature where you can scroll through all the branches of a specific command startup?

Actually the command list system allows you to do what you want when the game is paused. You have to use the directional keys and choose a move with the jump button.

But anyway the system is still rough for sure.

Dude, I really love the creativity you have done especially the character select grid. The way you control and summon allies is quite fantastic.

However, when I went to the snow stage, the engine crashes. It seems that there's no cache entry for checkpoint:

Thanks for the demo! I bet hope it's gonna be very useful if I could try to attempt to script the custom level of character select screen.
