In Progress The Lab of Mr.Din

The project is currently under development.
Ok guys,

This topic has not been updated since April.

Well, I'll take care of awakening it, if that's okay with you, of course.

I start by saying that after playing SOR4 (DotEmu), I have some bitterness left in my mouth. (especially for the extra option and the bad decision to mix the new generation graphics with old generation/pixelated characters and not taking into account, instead, to recreate ex-novo, a SOR like it was the Great Remake of a BombeGames, but with fresher graphics for today's times)

Those of DotEmu, I'm sure they never passed through the ChronoCrash/OpenBOR forum, if they had passed through here, they would have understood how to create a real Retrogaming.

In any case and hoping that in the meantime this game continues to be developed with such dedication and attention, I dedicate to its developer Mr.Din, but also to all of you guys, eternal lovers of the SOR/Yuzo Koshiro saga, a musical piece that I recently discovered and that reminds me epic and mythological reminiscences of the 90s with my beloved SEGA Genesis/MegaDrive.

I leave you with a little quiz: which soundtrack of the SOR series is this piece inspired by? ;D :)

ps: with this, are two!

Heh, while I appreciate the sentiments I don't really find Streets of Rage 4 to be a bad game, my involvement aside I like that we have a more modern take on Streets of Rage. One of the bigger goals of Streets of Rage Mania was to take a lot of the advancements of beat em ups that followed the original trilogy and beat em ups made in today's era (Fight'n Rage, River City Girls, Ninja Warriors Re-Remake etc) and utilize those things to create a fresher take on the original trilogy.

To be frank I'm not entirely sure where I want the project to go at this moment, 4 provided the newer take on the series and with remakes more recent update it definitely provides a more closer to home approach. Granted there's still things I want to see that haven't been done yet when it comes to the game's mechanics so maybe there's room to return to it. I did revisit a few characters graphically, I think because of this I would have to start from scratch again but I like the newer style the more I work on it.

Anyway, at the moment my biggest priority is my original IP. While I don't expect to get the same support I got from working on Mania I figure I might as well post a little info on the progress of it. More recently I formed a team comprised of Yota (of Final Street Fighter) and Agar (Streets of Rage Reformation) and we're working really hard on the project. It's no longer a mod since Agar offered his own beat em up engine (built in unity) but it something I hope you all will enjoy when it's finished.

You can find information of it on the main site, I'm still working on it but the links provided is where I post most info on the project.

That are some very good pixel art here, sir. Congrats!
And while I do want a SOR with your art style, I understand that original IP is the way to go.

This is a good new that you work on your own beat em up and you've got some talented makers in your team.
Nevermind if it's SOR like or not, the most important thing is to have a good gameplay :).

Glad to see you doing your own IP Mr.Din, you've got the talent for it.

Just hate that you jumped ship to Unity. It's a fantastic engine for lot of things, but I've yet to see anyone get it to run a beat em' up that had the right look and feel.

No matter what, we're behind you. Keep us posted!

Hey Din,

We haven't talked since your last analysis of the SOR2X. I have to thank you for the feedback because it helped me a lot to improve the game.

As a gratitude, I offer my help if someday you decide to continue working using OpenBOR with your current assets. You've done a great job with your sprites, it is bad that we will not have a game to play using them for now...

Good lucky buddy!

Yeah I was pretty reluctant to move to unity myself as I have the same gripes with games built in it, however agar convinced me with the engine he's built so far it's a really solid engine considering. I'm looking forward to showing the progress of the game once it's in a state I'm happy with.

Yotatouch is doing an amazing job with the art direction as well so there won't be any skimping on the presentation either. :)

I appreciate the kind words overall!

No problem man! I have to pick up 2x again as it's been a while since I've had hands on. If I do return to Mania in the future I'll definitely get back to you for some things!
