I'm not too clear if this is the right spot so suggest sprites, but I just ran into this video and I had to share. Tell me this guy doesn't look like a Foot Soldier:

Woah, straight outta Mirage (but with big shoulder pads!

Too bad the animation is so lacking on those nice sprites.  Ah, Amiga... what can you do?

Ah, so it's all The Lizard then?  BeasTie did good work on Mondo, even if he seemed unsatisfied with his work!

sorry i missed this post, really cool find, thanks for sharing.  I'll see if I can rip it sometime, the game looks like it could have some good bases for sprite editing.
This is the best place to suggest sprites, a few of us are using this thread for ideas.  I periodically check over the posts to refresh my memory.

About Mondo, I just left him to finish at a later stage.  I switched focus to the getting the turtles complete before adding anymore new characters.  malevka115 wanted to use him for mugen, but I hadn't finished his shoes, so I gave him the incomplete sprites for editing. He has finished adding his shoes to mondo, and I think he also made some other new sprites.    I'll have to go over his new sprites eventually and add him to the game, there's a lot of sprite edits I still need to add.

Id like to see Aska playable , she has a great move set and is super fast.
But because she is not in up to date media people always leave her out.
But with BOR it's the perfect chance to add characters like Aska , How many TMNT projects are on here atm ? and do any of them have Aska playable .

We were going to use her as April's base at one point.  She's not even a proper character thou, just made up for that game and doesn't exist otherwise.  I will probably add her eventually for the hell of it, bear in mind they need to fit into the story one way or another.  Otherwise they will just get added as a bonus character for replay value.

Also there's a lot more than just having sprites available,  if they don't have required animations they can't be added.  All the tournament fighter characters don't have suitable walking sprites for a beat em up.  They only shuffle their feet...  Custom ones were used for the TMNT, I'm not keen on having to do that for other characters.

Leftover code and text from the SNES reveals that Aska was originally designed to be the first incarnation of Princess Mitsu from the 3rd TMNT movie.  For whatever reason (poor reception?), the movie connection was removed and she was reborn as the original character Aska.  She never left much of an impression on me, other than the fact that the regional censorship is humorous.  I'd definitely prefer new versions of April O'Neil.

I would rather have real characters like that other girl you wanted to make beastie :P

@O Illusionista - yeah she isn't as bad as others but she still doesn't have run anyway.  I'm not coding them like they are in Tournament fighters,  I can't make these extra chars as robust as the TMNT are coded in the mod so far.  They just don't have enough sprites.  Which means most bonus chars will be a novelty and somewhat challenging compared to using the TMNT.  Besides Splinter, who will probably be a wrecking ball.

@oldmanwinters- yeah I knew about this, either character is completely uninteresting to me.  TMNT 3 movie is pretty bad... There's not much point to add her besides using the sprites.  I was probably going to use her as a generic/unnamed boss or a repeating enemy.

@esn23 - Yeah Karai is a definite, just need to decide on sprites.  A much more interesting and involved character.  Easy to write her in the story too.

--------------

Adding lots of characters is not really a focus of the project, what I intended was game chapters, that may be their own mod/demo, or included as other modes in the final game.  Where you might play as a certain char for a few stages, these chars would be available in the main story once you beat the game or beat their levels.  The idea was a tribute to the one-shot comics Mirage had for individual character introductions.  Part of the plan was these modes would be less sophisticated then the main game.  So it would have a more arcade feel with basic combos etc.  I had at least wanted to do a one chapter game for CASEY JONES, SHREDDER, RAPHAEL, LEONARDO, SLASH & KRANG. They are mainly for backstory, but for the novelty to play another character or even 'bad guys'

I had done a lot of testing of most of the available chars and added them in game previously, including some of my edited chars.  AFAIC the quality isn't good enough to continue with them, without making a lot of custom sprite frames or complete remake using a base.

Due to the high quality of other sprites and stages, I've been getting pretty brutal with quality control and removing or replacing anything that sticks out badly to me.  This included several playable chars..., The extra chars I tried felt like they cheapened the gameplay too much, and they couldn't deal with the enemies I created.  I wanted to create a fast flowing combat style, not just one combo.  I wanted the TMNT to move quickly and be able to deal with multiple enemies, without being too cheap.  The TMNT have various evasion moves, I've made the game to rely on these more than blocking.  It's a big part of the gameplay, without these abilities other chars get stomped easy.  Footclan aren't punching bags, they will evade, counter,  switch tactics or even swap weapons. (scripted to be random choices)

Yes, I'm still very hyped by the project!
It's true that Aska have not many sprites. But if needed, I would gladly giver her a run animation + some custom moves. I have little something for this character as well. :)

Anyway, this project is really something, and I would like to see it completed.
You always have my support BeasTie
