Never made an arena mode before. I'll look into the arena mode in nsw's Simpsons mod when I get a chance; I only played the main mode in that one.

I kind of forgot to mention... you may have noticed that Hero is no longer on the character select menu. He's not entirely disabled; you unlock him by completing one of the hidden stages. After beating the stage, go to a town, and you can then pick him.

Already Unlocked him yesterday. You probably should have made a tough boss for his secret level. I may make a vid on both levels(of course I'm not going to show where to go to find them.) Can't wait to play through the Fire and Wind crystal levels

Is there a shrine maiden in update? Lol ;D

If you can find me a shrine maiden sprite that resembles Final Fantasy style, I'll make the character.

Same with if you make the sprites themselves. I'm down for character requests if they are interesting enough/you provide me the graphics.  ;)

no prob  :)
Here's the sample

I like it. I like it a lot. I'm already thinking of a potential moveset.

This is the basic template I have for every character. Essentially, these are the sprites I need:

Put those together and we'll be in business.  ;D

Is Devil Hunter the strongest?

Depends on how you define "strongest." Devil Hunter (Dante) is by far the most versatile character in the game. The only thing that keeps him from being truly broken is his horrible damage output. He has crazy reach and combo-ability, but he only does a third of the amount of damage characters like Onion Knight and Fighter do. In true DMC fashion, Devil Hunter plays like you're an overpowered character in a way-too-difficult game. That is to say; if not for his weak power, there would be no reason to use anyone else.

... You know, I never actually thought of creating a tier list for my characters. I feel like if I did it, then I would create the appearance of favoritism as a creator and dissuade players from playing as who they like. So... if any of you cares enough, I'll let you handle that.  8)

You can make it so when you hold down his attack it will play a reload animation after a few attacks.
I was trying this in fallout mod.  Also I use the script command in Doom mod for continuous fire (auto-fire)

the script with this command is aniscp.c from mixmasters mod, MatMan showed me this.

For auto fire -

add to attack one
Code:
@cmd	changeanibykeytoattackforself "ANI_Attack2" 0 "A" 0 0

add to attack two
Code:
@cmd	changeanibykeytoattackforself "ANI_Attack1" 0 "A" 0 0

So if player holds down attack it will repeatedly fire the weapon (cycling between attack 1 & 2).

For the reload thing I mentioned just add multiple attack animations and make the last one the reload animation. So for example it cycles attack 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (attack7 is reload)  you can change it for any animation. (eg. ANI_FOLLOW  - ANI_FREESPECIAL )

What about thief? He's actually really good if you use him how I use him

Phew! Here, Nick  ;D

Excellent work, miles! I'll add her when I have time. I have a moveset in mind, but I may change it later. I played Pocky & Rocky and Koumajou Densetsu for some shrine maiden inspiration ;D I'm thinking she should throw those cards (seal tags, or something? I have no idea what they're properly called) and maybe summon some NPC ghosts. I'm open for suggestions, of course.

Ever think about adding a character on a mount? Such as a mog knight?

As an individual character? No, it never really crossed my mind. But I think it would be interesting! I do have sheets of the characters mounted on Chocobos for a possible mini-game, though (one of the NPC's in the farm town hints this).

Adding mounts a la Warriors of Fate or Golden Axe would be really time consuming though, since I have 20+ characters to edit... so a single mounted character is definitely a possibility.

Hence why I don't want to be the one who creates a tier list! ;D I put a lot of thought into each character and their moveset, but there are still ways to use them--like how you use Thief--that I simply never contemplated. So if there would ever be a ClaFan tier list, I'd like it to be player-created.

A freeze tag might work for her. She can throw tags which stops (stuns technically) enemies hit by these tags. No damage is given by these tags so spamming these won't break balance of game

Actually spell tags are called "amulets" (why they called that?), it is a ranged attack that it causes damage normally.
Well, look for some movesets from hisoutensoku to get more inspiration. And keep her in balanced.  Good luck..  ;D

Nice idea!

If your looking for more inspiration for movesets take a look at this combo vid:
Reimu Hakurei practical & theatrical combo video Touhou Hisoutensoku 12.3 1.10(a)

It might help out a bit. Also Nicky an chances of us seeing past FF bosses returning in this mod?

Oh, man. I didn't see these replies until now.

  Something like 'Joust' maybe?

That's an Atari game, right? I've never played it before, but I heard it's essentially Balloon Fight. I can think of a few ways to repurpose that kind of gameplay in OpenBOR...

While I like the idea, I think it would break bosses--especially the larger ones. Is there like a "nopain" version for stun? Stun resistance? I need to check the manual... I'd have to anyways, since Mystic Knight's ice sword is a stun attack. And I've found many ways of abusing it ingame.

Ranged attacks, eh. Kind of like in Pocky & Rocky, then. I'm seeing the general idea is to have those amulets as some kind of ranged attack for neutral Chain. The question is how I want to implement them: freezing, limited range, etc. I have two characters that specialize in range as-is (Archer and Devil Hunter), and I'm trying to avoid clones as much as possible. I'll have to look up this game you mentioned as well.

... By the way, Miles. Would you be interested in shading your sprites? As if they were from SNES era Final Fantasy games? Let's just say that lately I've been working on a ClaFan, just not the ClaFan.  ;)

That video definitely helped out. Like I mentioned above, I can already visualize the kind of moveset I'd give her.

As far as past FF bosses... See, even though I'm clearly using FF sprites and class names, I'm trying very hard to disassociate ClaFan with FF. Square-Enix is notorious for shutting down harmless fangames (I'm still pissed about Final Fantasy Legacy), and I don't want my game to be the first OpenBOR mod that gets a C&D letter. This is why I came up with an original name, and try to use music that doesn't come from Square-Enix games.

TL;DR: Probably not. I know I'm being pretentious by acting like ClaFan could ever come under Square-Enix's radar, but. You never know. A guy has to be cautious.
