Me and Count Monte have discussed about this and we agreed to add darkness to our game.
Here is one dungeon with darkness:



It's really dark, players can walk in dark if they want but if would be hard without being able to see ;)

So what do we need?
Yes, torches to light up the area



Hmmm... I think I need to expand lighted area from this torch.

Anyways, a new shop has opened and it sells
lanterns and torches (burning oils too)



I could show shot with lantern but IMO it's best to use video to show how lantern works.
 
did you have plans to use dungeon fighter creatures on this game?
im downloading righ now the korean client to try to rip some new creatures and i saw some dwarvens there that might fit in this game

Dwarves would be great!
Any and all fantasy sprites are welcome, there are never enough characters and backgrounds so we're always looking for more:)
Unless the art style just doesn't fit at all, the Capcom an IGS stuff works well together, and so does a bunch of other stuff.

Hope your rip method works!

The Dragon at 3:43 is so excellent ... big monsters like that are so cool to make good boses :p

Hmmm.... if the sprites look good after rescaling, then why not? :)

From myself, we need more undeads and demons.

As I posted before, torches and lantern can be used to light up dungeons. This video shows how each of them are used.
Light from torches has been widened also.

Stealing

Finally, this feature it's added, now Shannon can steal something from enemies by running to them.

Now, back to working on side quest!

Does the lighting effect move with the player, or do you have to use it everytime you walk away from the torch?

Can you steal multiple times? Is there chance you fail, or do you always succeed (provided the enemy has any money)?

I noticed the Carrion Crawler inflicts poison. Nice touch!
(I think you should animate its head, and maybe clean up the sprites... too pixaleted)

Also very cool. Unfortunately, just like in the Capcom games, it looks sort of silly and breaks up the flow of multi-player games while you sit there waiting for the thief to ram goodies out of people. IMO a reworking of this mechanic is needed - perhaps combining it with backstab (i.e. a successful backstab automatically robs the victim of whatever goodies it had). If not that, at the very least there should be some small indicator "nothing to steal" when she rams an opponent so that players will stop doing it over and over.

You got point there. I just remembered that monsters don't have anything to steal from and it would be good idea to tell player with indicator.

As for other way to steal, I'm going to discuss this with Count Monte. I too prefer more ways to steal.

For torch, no, it will stay behind so it's less reliable compared to lantern

Yes, she can steal multiple times.
If you watch the video, you can see that she rams orcs multiple times before she finally steals something ;)
 
I havent seen this new project, how I could miss it? outstanding work here as always BloodBane congratulations my friend, again showing your great skills modding, I just have a question, will this MOD be playable on wii? if not so, will you make a wii version? you know because wii´s RAM issues

Sorry Gideon, I have no Wii so I can't test it in that console. We are focusing on PC only.

Just small update, I tried using lantern in non dark dungeon and it was too bright so I decided to set some code to prevent lanterns from being lit in non dark dungeons. Torches however can still be used but no light effect will be casted there.

And related to that, to avoid lighting conflict, I also set some code to prevent torches to cast light if lantern has been used before.
 
ohhhh I was going to rip it (I just love that game!). can you share the sprites with me?
On the original game, he can swallow you. Will you add something like that?
