The female bikini kickboxers haven't changed.
Yup still in concept while I work on the base goons. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 • May I suggest playing with different swimsuit concepts?
 • Make the bikinis look like bikinis.
 • I know that this will happen eventually, but give them different styles in their gang attires.

it's been in mind yes. the bikini's are likely just for the resort and beach areas that the particular gang resides, the current look was an experiment of 3 different looks mashed together. Kickboxer were meant to initially be a replacement for hakuyo's on moon beach, may still be.

Gangs are segregated (sort of) by locations in story mode. I'll try to make a more stable post soon, work schedule among other things get in the way of updates, having to choose between doing such and just working on the project lol.

There is going to be a resort in the game?
yes along with various new scenes.

So more verbal progress, :P Axel is coming along great so far, I'm learning more and more about collision detection, axis placement etc and the importance of it all so getting his values accurate to SoR1 with a little SoR2/3/BKM throw in is of the utmost importance. I'm also determined to get this SoR grapple system in order as well. He has no ranged combos yet but I have been adding different ways to finish his standard combo with the "light's Out" attack (also known as the Y button lol) as well as the Rear attack. Cancel command is very fun to play with :D
Axel's moveset
- Ground attacks -
Standard Combo: Front (6hp) x2, Gut Punch (8hp), Roundhouse Kick (14hp knockdown*) *can cancel RH into Sobat Kick (8hp knockdown)
Alternate Combo: Straight (6hp) x2, Gut Punch (8hp), Flying Knee (12hp knockdown) done by pressing Y after gut punch, good for crowd control
Upclose Combo (not in yet): Jab (6hp) x2, Straight (8hp), Low Sidekick (10hp knockdown*), High Sidekick (14hp knockdown) only done when timed correctly like SoR2
Roundhouse Kick (16hp knockdown): Hold Attack for 2 seconds and release, it's a little different from the standard one used in the combo.
Double Sidekick: Low Sidekick (6hp), High Sidekick (10hp knockdown) just like SoR2 does 2 quick hits, less damage than the ender however
Back Attack: elbow (8hp), backfist (12hp knockdown) back attack does 2 hits like SoR2, attack can change if done in a combo I'll leave that to the player to find out ;)

- Aerial Moves -
Knee press (12hp stun) best for getting in on an opponent, can also be used as an otg but not recommended
Vertical Kick: knee (10hp) upper kick (20hp knockdown) good to end a combo with solid damage
Flying Kick (8hp knockdown) good for a quick knock down however vulnerable to upper attacks
Flying knee (SoR1): (16hp knockdown) The flying knee from SoR1 is back but can only be done during a running jump
Rising knee (8hp knockdown) a retreating attack done when using the back jump, probably the worse move in the set

- Grapple Moves - (from front only for now)
Vault: can be used for team attacks, escaping or getting to the other side
Headbutt (8-22hp knockdown) does amazing damage when charged and a good quick way to end your grab
Knee combo: Knee (8hp) x2, double knee (8+10hp)
Back Attack: back smashing fist (12hp) you can back attack while grabbing by pressing Z
Overshoulder Slam (24hp): short ranged but does fair damage and knocks away any enemies directly behind
Back toss (24hp): Works just like SoR2 but is performed by pressing back and attack during a combo
(from back not implemented)
Suplex (32hp): this is done with just attack alone
Body Slam (28hp): this is done by pressing back and attack

- Special attacks -
Rising Hawk (48hp knockdown): fast attack (16+4+4+4+20hp) a powerful blitz attack only performed by running
Grand Upper (48hp knockdown): not added yet - short ranged but powerful uppercut that can be used to end combos
Hurrican Kick (16hp knockdown) 360 attack used to clear space, careful as you become vulnerable if it wiffs.

I'd also like to note, there are no special attacks other than the cop call much like SoR1 but in it's place how ever the "both attack" command can be used to do 360 move, while it's not entirely invincible it doesn't take away life force either. There's also defensive traits each character will have in the future. The Cop call feature will allow for 4 different attacks
- ??? does complete damage, takes full cop meter
  - this attack destroys everything in the area, definitely worth saving up for.
- Napalm and Gattling Gun (SoR1) half a life bar of damage 2/3 of cop meter
  - Napalm covers the whole screen with a more concentrated attack but doesn't hit otg and runs quicker, the Gattling Gun hits enemies otg or otherwise, has a longer time period but isn't guaranteed hit everyone (offscreen enemies for example)
- Tear Gas does no damage but stuns the enemies, takes 1/3 of cop meter.
  - Emits a gas that will stun enemies longer than the pepper spray item, good for when you need a quick second to grab health and have a low meter.
Pressing the cop call button (special) brings up a quick menu, press left/right for the SoR1 attacks respectively, up for the devastating attack and down for tear gas.

Also...

did some revising to make the classic look more classic. :D

also palettes, because those are fun!

Your level of detail is very good.
It will be a pain in the a** to do full sprite set for them.
But sure, it will look great.

Your Axel body proportions are really better now! (shoulder, legs...)
I still don't recognize Blaze... IMO there is some proportions to edit (ratio shoulder-hip...)
She is not as "womanly" as she used to be...

Everything else is perfect
Good luck with game system.

I appreciate the comments. Long time no see, this calendar year is going to be quite the year for me, I'm building these projects step by step and I'm hoping to show them off this year at Sega Fan Jam and hopefully other events. :)

So about Streets of Rage: Wrath of the Syndicate, as you last saw I was taking a new direction with the sprite style, smaller palette, more faithful to the original source etc.

Here's why, remember the redesigns and newer goons shown off earlier in the thread? Well those designs have been turned into new characters to be featured into a (Spiritual) follow up of the Streets of Rage series called Deadly Metropolis.

just a preview
More info on that later.

That said the Streets of Rage Neo series will be sticking a little closer to it's original counterparts in aesthetics but along to go with it as a celebration of SoR's 25th anniversary...

Yes! it's back, Streets of Rage Anniversary edition. If you remember a long while ago on the lavalit boards I posted this project's progress, unfortunately the project itself was lost due to my hardrive being stolen but thanks to a good friend of mine I managed to recover some of the work and have been working on it since!

This project's core gameplay will still play like the original SoR1 but with some aesthetic enhancements, 3 player mode and new enemies as well as restored enemies and levels from the long lost beta!

have a sample!

both projects will be shown at Sega Fan Jam this november, hopefully I'll have the beta more functional before that but that's the main goal!

And of course because this the Lab of Mr.Din I have more to talk about!

the status of my Final Fight Projects:
- Final Fight Double Impact -
concept_by_dintheabary-d9olf4n.png

Final Fight: World Tour | Final Fight: Revenge of MadGear
Final Fight Double Impact is a very early what if concept. What if Capcom continued the series in the arcades instead of the commissioned home series on the nintendo?

World Tour is a Cps2 remake of the original Final Fight 2, in this version Haggar stays in metro city to handle Mad Gear's return on their home turf (the plot of FFR) instead he send carlos and a new comer to handle Mad Gear 2's international affair.

What's new? Final Fight 2 was a little too similar to Final Fight 1 in gameplay but without the short and sweet nature of FF1's playthrough this left the game drawn out and quite dry. So to spice it up a bit, I've taken some things from other capcom arcade brawlers, for example Maki and Carlos are now weapon characters. Very similar to how AvP plays Maki and Carlos have separate movesets with and without their special weapons (sword and tonfa).

Maki is very agile, no longer the "not guy" character, she has a forward dodge roll (fwd fwd) can jump from walls and can chain her combos. She has an anti-air grab and can bounce off enemies.
Carlos with his sword has quite some range and damage, his downward stab has otg properties and he has a new static aerial with his sword that spikes the enemy to the ground. His range is still decent without the sword as in the original game, unlike Maki his moveset without his weapon works quite different, he also has the ability to switch between using the sword and not using it.

Final Fight Revenge is a new take on a sequel to final fight 1 that references various other games in the series. Mad Gear has returned under the command of Rolento and Sodom stronger than ever! Cody has been framed and jailed while Jessica is abroad. All that's left is Haggar and Guy and Cody's brother Kyle to take them down! FFR will play pretty similar to World Tour differences being the character's movesets and behaviors, not much has been done with either however Stage 1-1 of Revenge is complete (as shown in the concept and some enemy concepts have been put together.

mad gear 2!

As for Final Fight Trilogy, nothing new there yet, it's the most ambitious project so I'm taking my sweet time with it.

Whew that was quite a post, took me some time to get all that down. Well enjoy the new year, I won't be posting often.

The styles look VERY excellent, Din! I like how all the characters look in different designs. Also, I like the idea that Carlos switches his sword with his fists for battle. Haggar's shading of his outfit is kinda like CVS while his skin is like CPS1. I'm not saying it's bad. But that one gets me to wonder about his shading.

Final Fight Revenge? At first it was the game but then I realized you mean Revenge of Mad Gear.

Thank you! Haggar was originally a cvs styled sprite of mine, I will be working on the shading a bit more as far as the clothes go.

That was Intentional :P

Excellent designs, congratulations for the work.
Thank you more to come on the streets of rage side of things, I've just been in the mood for both games!

Too...much...win!  ;D 8)

On a serious note, you should get your own domain, so that we can better know of these things.

I have a forum which hopefully I plan to post a little more on.

There's also the blogs but those are heavily out of date going to have to update them!

Great work! I'm loving the sprite work and progress. I was really disappointed when  Capcom made Final Fight Double Impact. I was hoping for a remake or something.

I have an idea on how to do the Streets of Rage Grapple system, if you want me to help with that.

I also found The Stiff an incredibly cool boss. Would be great adding him in the cast as one of the Mad Gear Lieutenants along with his suited goons (maybe worldwide, especially in the Italy stage)

I totally agree I was going they would've at least bundled it with captain commando or something!

Yes, please! It's one of my biggest set backs so far! Everything else feels smooth as butter outside the occasional crashing over small textual errors XD

Stiff had some amazingly hilarious lines, me and Vanza were talking about him as far as re-designing some bosses from street wise. Though note that this stuff was all done about almost a year ago given I shifted focus on SoR but I think you'll like what we have in mind. :)

I got a few questions concerning Final Fight Double Impact.

Will there be more enemies from Final Fight: Streetwise in this Final Fight: Double Impact?

Why are only Carlos Miyamoto and Maki Ganryusai playable in Final Fight: World Tour?

Who is running Metro City's Mad Gear Gang and the International Mad Gear Gang respectively?

What happened to Lucia Morgan and Dean during the time that these games take place?

Will enemies that were cut from the original Final Fight games have a spot in your games?
These questions are for the Streets of Rage end.

With Streets of Rage Anniversary Edition back in full swing, what is going to become of all of your recent hard work you put into those new sprites?

What is the story behind Deadly Metropolis?

Are you adding Streets of Rage 2 and Streets of Rage 3 into the Anniversary Edition?

I know one of the characters as Brad Stone, but who are the other three?
The only question I have for both of these are "Will there be any online play?"

Thank you.
