Amazing sprite work´s!!! \o/

May I suggest something? I always wondered how would be the Rushing Beat 2 last boss, Dieter / Iceman, was the son of Belger looking for revenge. What do you think? Could put it in your game?

Amazing ideas and sprite sheets about SoR!! I cant waiting for playing this!! :)

Cheers! o/

LOL
This suggestion was not for you, Don Vecta... but why not? you did not like the idea?

Yikes so many replies! much appreciated

So the big guy now has beard? Amazing! He looks very bad ass.
Yes Mad Max GWAAAR! I played around with the bearded concept quite a few times before but wasn't too happy with it initially, but this was the result. :)

Those look pretty amazing! Their outfits look very super stylish! I like it. Dr. Zan's hair looks kinda like Godot of Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulation (third sequel of the Ace Attorney series). I like Skate's stance, it's like he does his stance like Ryu.
I never got into the Ace Attorney series but I do think I know who you mean, guy in the red suit right? As for skate I could not escape the ryu stance with him haha it looks a bit less ryu in motion though I think.

Murphy looks kinda like Cable for the stance and Punisher for his hair. LOL I like his design though. Almost like he's Solid Snake that he's gonna go for stealth mission. LOL Oh, even his right leg is shaded at front like CPS2/SFA/MVC style.

Tina reminded me of Cassie Cage (MKX) for her appearance.

Java looks like a Muay Thai fighter to me, but I know you mentioned she's a freedom fighter and her outfit is badass. ;)

All of them look really awesome, man.
With Murphy I tried to reference E-Swat and old cop movies, he may be the most interesting concept to mess with as far as move set goes.
I can see the comparison with Tina and Cassie, I may take that into consideration given I do love Cassie's moves :)
Java was really fun to design, she's been in my head for years and has evolved quite a bit over time!
Appreciate the comment!

Wow, decided to use Java after all? :D
Indeed I did, that mod you worked on really inspired the name. :) however her place in the story is quite different haha. I like the name Java as well, has a certain ring to it that other SoR character names have.

Thank you very much, I revise a million times before I post any of it hahaha. As for Dieter I would have to mirror vecta as I'm not very interested in the idea, afterall there's already a belger sibling to fill the roll. However Dieter does have an interesting move set.

Nice concepts! really.
We all know you can do awesome concepts! Now it would be nice to see some of them in action.
Even if the fighting stances already give a great feeling! 8)
Also, what with the kneepad crazyness :P
I actually didn't notice as many kneepads I used haha. It's a running theme in SoR character designs I guess I got it embedded in my sub conscious :P

So this is Cable, Rachel, ??, Pai Chan and Roger Jr? (I mean the references for stances...)
who's rachel? I did indeed try to reference different sega characters, cable happened to be a crazy coincidence though to be frank he doesn't have the most unique stance lol.

All these characters looks great! even if I'm not fan of the kung fu girl. I prefer when they are small and cute more like Xiaoyu or even Lei Fang.

If you take suggestions of characters, I'll be glad to give some character design sprite concept. Just PM me if you want.

Not currently taking suggestions, I wouldn't mind having a look however.

Anyway, good luck.
I sincerely hope this game will go farther than "game project/concept"
It's already further than concept but I have my reasons for not displaying much, one being the actual combat system isn't to my liking yet. Even these concepts are pretty old in comparison to what's actually been done. Maybe I shouldn't be such a perfectionist in this case heh heh.

@Mr Din
Rachel is a Ninja Gaiden series character.
She's playable in DOA5. But after reflexion, it's definitly more based on Virtua Fighter's Sarah.
I think. :)
In DOA5 Rachel and Sarah have someting similar the the movement...

Anyway good luck with the progress of your game

No. He's the guy with a visor and a white hair. I was referring to Dr. Zan's hair and glasses only.

Well to be frank there's some specific reasons I can't really show much. The current demo is being used for something, it may not become a full MOD but there is SOMETHING in the works. Until then I'll keep up with the teasers. :P

Donovan
Quick little freebie to show what we've been putting together in the lab. This guy is almost complete, just getting a few more animations together and he'll be ready to show off what he can do. I'll try to do a video on him soon as I can, though I may wait for his other two buddies for that.

Definitly the kind of graphics I would like to see in a SOR sequel.
Awesome job.

My only "complain" would be about Max's bald ver. The head seems strangely designed, same for back of neck (behind of ear)

Your color work gives great possibilities. :)

Love how Donnie's glasses have tint to be available (red tinted shades, fuck yes). He looks slightly more nimble than his original version, which is fine... probably lost muscle during those years.

Consider a buzz cut, a goatee or a mohawk for some alternate versions? :P

Thank You, more importantly they're animating well which was my ultimate goal. :)

Color Separation is a labor of love and as simple as the SoR designs are I couldn't pass up the opportunity. :)
As for Max he's been the most awkward to get right with his jaw and head shape, still experimenting with him.

Yes I definitely had to give him something for the shades, color customization will be fun for you guys. :P I still need to add his chain actually...
Actually if you stand him next to some characters he still looks pretty big in comparison, I tried to find that middle ground between his two original designs.

Consider a buzz cut, a goatee or a mohawk for some alternate versions? :P
You know I have to! ;)

Speaking of Donny, I placed him in the engine and he's coming out almost flawlessly. Only issue I'm having is getting the timing of his upper down. In the original you could interrupt him if you were fast enough but here it's a little too easy, maybe another attack box, speeding up the attack? Video coming soon.

Yes CS is a great stuff for color variation.
Great for players, but even more useful for enemies : because this way you can give even more the illusion these "clones" are actually different (with color elements, facial designs, facial hair)
I will definitly do it as well for my project to avoid loadin a complete alternate spriteset for each enemy variation. :)

OMG I can't believe it :O Java was a character I designed for a Streets of Rage Remake mod called 'Hunting Java' like 4-5 years ago. I worked on it solo at first but I was an amateur at that sort of thing and Don kindly offered to help me out. I eventually quit the project because I found the whole thing too much hard work and I had no real talent for it, but I had fun developing that character and story, even if it was a little stupid (Adam having a long-lost evil cousin? Uh...)

I'm completely shocked that she inspired a character for your game after all these years! I'm surprised someone liked her concept that much :) It's a big compliment!

I love her design and your spritework in general is very impressive. This might just be the Streets of Rage game I've been waiting for. Keep up the amazing work! :)

Cool sprite work! can't wait to see them in action :)

I prefer quick upper like we have now. His original uppercut which was slow (in response time) makes him less effective as jumpattack killer
But if you want to implement slow upper, don't use UPPER animation but instead use regular ATTACK animation for his uppercut

I'm still keeping your mod on ice, just to tell you. :)

That's the idea! :) especially if I do decide to make a mod for the dreamcast it'll be very helpful.

So you're the creator of Java? Cool! originally the characters name was going to be Grace or Lewis but Java has a certain ring to it that feels like something you'd hear in an SoR game. To be real I was just happy to design a black female character for the roster. ;D

I'll give that a shot thanks! I want to find a middle ground, I like that you can stop him if you're quick enough but I want that window to also be shorter than the original as I agree his upper loses a bit of it's edge when you can so easily interrupt it.

Wow, I haven't done any SORR modding since way back then. I've thought about it every now and then but I just don't have the patience or talent for it. My work always looked plain and mediocre until you fixed them, lol, and I was never able to design things like elevator stages. I've pretty much forgotten how to do everything.

I haven't really played SORR in general for a long time anyway. I guess I'm more into OpenBOR games these days, lol.

Haha, yeah when I first designed her I was literally just like "I wonder what it would look like if I put Adam's colour palette on Blaze," and it turned out really well so I tried to figure out what kind of character she might be. I figured since Adam already had a brother as a playable character then maybe he should have a sister or cousin as a villain and things just kinda developed from there, lol. I think I planned on having her become good at the end of the mod though and have some sort of password to a zip file to unlock her palette for Blaze so you could 'play' as her, lol.

Whenever your game becomes playable I'm definitely gonna have to play as her, lol. What's her fighting style gonna be like?

EDIT: By the way I LOVE that you're using Blaze's Streets of Rage 1 outfit. That was always my favourite. It looks great!

Don't worry about it. Some douchebag was begging for the WIP of Hunting Java in the forums, but definitely without your permission, I said no. I'd rather finish the mod by myself (or, hopefully, have you coming back and work together again) than releasing an unfinished work.

And what are you talking about? What you were doing was great! The designs of scenes you did were quite impressive (like the mall, with its interiors or the entrance of the derelict building, to mention some), I only gave you enough push to keep them that way.

Anyways, we're on Discord if you wanna try again. Trust me, the mod was going in the right path. :)

Definitely sounds interesting. Originally this character was based on Grace from fighting vipers and Vanessa Lewis from VF4/Evo in appearance and moveset. The references to them are still there but Java also piqued my interest so threw her into the mix and voila!

Whenever your game becomes playable I'm definitely gonna have to play as her, lol. What's her fighting style gonna be like?
I'll take care not to disappoint for sure. :) Her planned game play will likely be a Hybrid of Linn Kurosawa, Elfin and Wendy from Rushing Beat, a speedy submissive grappler type if I could describe it best.

EDIT: By the way I LOVE that you're using Blaze's Streets of Rage 1 outfit. That was always my favourite. It looks great!
YES! likewise, I didn't like her look in 2 much but 3 refined it a bit, You'll likely see this in my other designs for blaze as well, not to say I'd leave out her SoR2 look.

Alright so here's a quick video, keep in mind most of the stuff I've made graphically has not been placed in the engine just yet (mainly focused on enemies) but the moves themselves are in place.
