Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

The game has its problems, but I wouldn't call it half cooked. Troubled and jank in a few areas, but that is pretty much always been the norm for this franchise. Even with Shura taken into account. Were you on Steam, or PS5/Switch 2 by any chance? Sucks that happened though. I never encountered...

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

If you're talking about the second and third game, that's more understandable, but the first game really has not much going for it. I literally just played the first game to completion yesterday. Even then, the second game has its really cheap moments and jank. All these games drag way too long...

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

I still have no desire to purchase RR, even on a deep sale.

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

You are pretty much correct on all the fronts. It's what I mentioned to him earlier. RBX is a decent time, but I can't blame people for waiting on a deeper sale. I got it because I expected a fun and decent time. It was a bit better than I expected, but there's that occasional jank. I'm still...

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

For repeat playthroughs, you can actually get through the game pretty fast. I ignore most of the optional rooms. Though I do admit the game drags in some parts. The SNES trilogy it's still the worst with the pacing. They tended to drag too and had much more limited enemy variety. I am more so...

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

Matt McMuscles is liking this game right now. He also played the Western versions of Rushing Beat as well. He should have just stuck with the Japanese versions for a better time, but not the end of the world. I did story mode this time, but on Easy just to see the differences. There is not...

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

Yeah, I get a bit further and I quit on Shura. I think you still get a lot of continues, but you die in about 2-4 hits depending on who you're playing as. I will just stick with Easy or Normal to get through the fights faster. Not worth the hardest difficulty and glad there's not achievement for it.

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

Not really when it's coming from the main man, Hideki Kamiya himself. I decided to try Shura difficulty, and so far things don't seem too different. I was able to get through the first stage without much trouble, but I did notice then we have a bit more health. They still die pretty fast...

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

VJ is both or one or the other, depending on what you're doing at that moment, so it definitely counts as a brawler. You're still mostly beating up bad guys throughout the majority of the campaign. With a shmup section in the middle. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viewtiful_Joe_(video_game)

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

What? VJ is just as 2.5D as Street Fighter IV, V, & VI. I know they have those special camera angles for certain moves and/or cinematics, but you're mainly on a single plane. I know Joe has mach speed and can use that attack to hit things in the background, or vice versa, but that definitely...

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

Ok then. So what you're saying also applies to games like Double Dragon Revive and Double Dragon Neon then too. While something like Viewtiful Joe is strictly 2.5D, because there is no three axis movement in gameplay.

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

I do not get the reference nor joke. That's the first i've heard for somebody that didn't like a 2.5D brawler. If that's what you're going with.

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

The diagonal D-Pad controls never gave me any trouble on PS5 at least. Analong worked great too, but the D-Pad is more comfortable for me. Though this is clearly a personal preference thing. I completed Rushing Beat X again, but this time with Free Mode on Normal. I actually did better here...

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

Some colors and background definitely do look better than others. I actually like to look at the characters and the shading overall. Namely the main playable characters.

I'm preording my copy from GameStop. They only have the standard editions though. I'm thinking about ordering a special edition since there's still time to get them but i'm not sure yet.

Rushing Beat X Return of the Brawl Brothers

There are plenty of great ones out there. Ironic, most of them are coming from non Japanese developers but this never bothered me. Somebody has to keep the spirit alive. These games have only made me happy or happier. I've only found two written reviews so far, and nothing on youtube yet...
