Thanks.

By the way, I can't seem to edit my upload for days. When I click the edit link, only the title is visible. If no one else has this problem, it could be a problem of my network.

Maybe we should discuss that in another thread.

Split off to discuss upload issues.

If I am understanding correctly, when you try to edit an upload it leaves behind old files? What steps are you taking exactly and what are the results?

I can tell you that upload posts and uploaded files are not really tied to each other. You can change the file an upload post refers to and you can make upload posts without files at all.

I see.

The extra files show their owners as "Damon Caskey". I recall the instruction text near the upload button said the old file will be replaced so I always edited the same topic and uploaded a new one. So perhaps you saw the old files and moved them there. They were not actually "replaced".

I'm still having edit problem though, the page just won't finish loading, showing only a title.

I've had the same problem. I do an upload it does its thing then the page refreshes (after an hour or so) and nothing has uploaded or changed.

Will try to help but I'm crazy buzy at the moment.

Hi just wondering if theres any updates on fixing editing uploads ? it still only lets you edit the name, not the file or the description. and doesnt let you delete a upload.

same here. there are any news?

Sorry, been kind of run over lately. I'll get it fixed as soon as I can. Although there likely won't ever be the option to delete uploads. I'm not going to get into all the details, but it almost always leads to issues.

You can replace the file so uploading demo and then uploading full version in its place would be possible, no problem IMO.

This was the same way things worked at Lavalit; we had our reasons for doing so there and still do here. As BwwD said, you can easily replace files as you update, and we can delete files by request anyway.

You'd think people wouldn't be "turned off" by a community provided file service that's free as dirt, lets you describe your material in detail, doesn't auto delete files, doesn't make people nervous about spyware and doesn't force you to sift through a mountain of popups to find a purposely obscured link just to download.

Oh, and also has backups in case something bad happens. On that note, SX contacted me last night. He's having some life things going on right now, but is working to dig through and will be loading up Lavalit's old library as soon as he does.
