multiple controllers glitching out

I have been playing lots of openbor games with my logitech f310 in single player and they all have worked completely fine.

Today a few friends came over and I tried playing multiplayer and was unable to get multiple controllers to work.

I have 2 logitech f310's when I plugged them in they were recognized as the same controller, I tried many other controllers as well (xbox 360, xbox one, and a few older controllers) when plugged in alone they all worked fine, when using multiples all sorts of weird glithces happened.

for example, I programmed one controller for player 1, when I went to program the 2nd controller, every button I hit captured a screenshot.

Another example, I programmed 2 controllers and as soon as I was done programming the 2nd one, the first one stopped working.

I tried several different mods and kept encountering the same problem.  I was unable to play mutliplayer in any game I tried.

Any ideas about this or how I can fix it?

Just to add more information:

any 2 xinput controllers will mirror each other, so if I have my logitech in one usb port and my xbox 360 controller in the other they will be register as player 1 and if I start a 2 player game my controller will move both characters at the same time.

I also tried disabling controllers and using joy2key, when I do this I can get the buttons to work but no directional input will register

also my pc does recognize them as different controllers, every other program I try will count them as p1 and p2(emulators, joy2key, steam games, xpadder etc)

I tested some joysticks and them work well.

- Is your test on Windows?
- Had you try to test them deleting saves?
- Had you conf your pads correctly and then during a game your pad didn't work?
- Has your pad more then 32 buttons in total (buttons+axes+hats)?

Maybe need to compile a specific  debug version to test the pads..
Sorry but sometimes SDL support for gamepad is not so good...

Here a test version:

I expect an issue on "port" (if buttons are more then 32)..
please report it.. thanks.

1) yes, I am on windows 10
2)yes, I have deleted saves and started fresh, it still happened
3) many times I could not even configure the pads correctly, sometimes both pads would come up as P1, othertimes they would configure correctly but then start glitching out in the menu, a few times I managed to configure the pads correctly and then one of them would not work in game, or one pad would control both players.
4) I don't believe any of my pads have more than 32 buttons,  the most buttons I tested are xbox 360/one pads, and I also tested some older pads and had the same results

I will download that file and see what happens with the test

EDIT: downloaded the zip file but am unable to extract it with winrar or 7-zip

@whitedragon:

I was thinking about what you said about controllers with more than 32 buttons and I realized that although I did test with some old controllers with fewer buttons, I never tested using ONLY old controllers with fewer buttons.

So I just decided to test a game using only 2 old controllers with not many buttons and it worked perfectly, so I think the issue is with the newer controllers and all of their analog sticks/buttons
