New version incompatiblities

Hello,

First I want to say I love OpenBOR! Having a bit of a problem with the new version. I have collected these games for a long time, and I'm trying to figure out which games I have that are incompatible. If there was a CRC-checking commandline option, that would be awesome. I have tested version 6391 back to 6297. They all crash on the menu with both Windows and Android versions. I know its a PAK file doing it. I moved all my files elsewhere and left 2 games in the folder, He-Man and Hentai City. They both worked flawlessly, and no more crashing. Then I decided to copy one letter of games at a time back into the folder. Letter 0-A, fine. Copied in letter b, menu crashed. Took letter b out, copied in letter c, menu crashed. And so on and so forth... there must be a LOT of incompatible games, because every letter I tried to copy some in there it made the menu crash.

One more thing I noticed... in the android version, if I turn on the sound player and scroll through the list, no more crashing at all! But the second I turn it off and see the preview pictures, it immediately crashes. So I think it directly has something to do with the preview pictures. NOT SURE, but I'm just trying everything to get the crashing to stop... Wish I could just turn off preview pictures as that would temporarily solve the problem. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but I would love to hear your thoughts on this. I know ONE thing I could do is take every game away and add them back 1 at a time. (Will probably take 3 days.)

BTW, the error code in Windows is StackHash_9c1c.  Don't know if this helps.

EDIT: This error does not happen in build 7142. I'm going to do further testing now...

Some mods are built on specific builds of openbor to update them you would have to unpack the game run it on the latest build then check the logs to find out why it crashed.

If its a simple fix link me the game I will see if I can fix it for you.

I could do it, but right now I'm not sure its anything specific. I did find a workaround in the past couple hours though! I don't believe it's any games in particular. My list cannot have more than 18 games total. This is because 18 games fit in the list window without the window having to scroll. If I even put 19 in there, it will crash in the list, but if I keep it to 18 or below, it finally stops crashing. And it only crashes in the list, not in the games. So I now know that it has something to do with the list window scrolling. As a workaround for now, I have tried to pick my 18 absolute favorite games, which is very hard because if I have to pick favorites, it will be a lot more than 18! What you mod authors have created is nothing short of amazing.

If all I can have is 18 games right now, it's still not a totally negative thing! That's better than not having any. And I can just swap them out with games from another folder if I have to.

@DC

I am testing version 6391 on android. But I think the bug was present on the windows release, but not sure. But I tested the new build 7142, and it does not seem to have the bug.

Okay I get it now. Sorry about that. I didn't understand how that worked before.

I just wanted to say about the topic of the thread that when I first made the post I thought it had to do with some incompatibilities but it turned out to be the number of files. I'm going to research more before I post from now on so I have my information straight.

I just want to make a quick update. I tested build 6391 on Windows 7 SP1 and Android 10, and the same problem persisted with 19 or more games vs 18 or less. I switched the video backend from OpenGL to SDL, and it did not make a difference. Tested build 7142 on Windows 7 SP1, and there is no crashing in the list. I'm still not clear on what would cause that to happen.
