Greetings

The examples in the Openbor wiki feature the likes of Terry, Ray & Ryu!
Are they from a mod or was it only used for the wiki?
Is World Heroes Supreme Justice open to the public to reuse for their own mod?
Is there a section that have resources available for reuse or prohibited from use?
Don't want step on toes when it come to working on existing mods.

the resources section has a bunch of templates,
then there is nightslashers widescreen 23A, i have been working on and off on this thing since 2019 and i have added lots of notes on how some stuff works, you are welcome to play around with that one.

as far as the work of others, some modules can also be analized and you may even edit them for your own personal use.

First, and this is for everyone, I'd really appreciate if we could stop saying "mods". Nobody here makes mods, that's what rom hackers do. We build games.

As for those Wiki screenshots, the projects are all mine, including the World Heroes module. It's called World Heroes Timeless. It might look similar to WH Supreme Justice, but only in screenshots. It's is a totally different beast to see in action and play, not to mention under the hood (I'm not saying that like it's better, just that it's a completely different game). The Fatal Fury screens are from my Fatal Fury Chronicles project.

At one time I had them freely available in a public repository so I could share bits and portions of the code as examples when someone needed help. Unfortunately... internet.
  • Having my fingerprints in a project (read: any scripted module), while claiming I don't contribute anything to the community.
  • Using my code or tricks (sometimes from back in the late 2000's) and then claiming I copied them.
  • Using my code in pornographic and other illicit projects that I don't personally approve of.
  • Downloading an entire repository and messing with it out of context, then wondering why it wouldn't work.
For those and other reasons reasons I elected to take everything private again, and release portions as smaller working technical exhibitions when I get the time.

As for other projects that are not mine, you'd have to ask those creators. Everyone has a different point of view.

Incidentally, World Heroes Supreme Justice is right here in resources.

I'm glad you feel this way about the games build with Openbor in this space!
I felt like it was disservice to use the term mod to begin with after seeing all the work that goes into making something insane as UDD,River city LA, SorX or Avengers being a decade in the making to mention a few yet people would say they modifications of someone's else's work but I digress!
The people here done more then enough to call it their own work.

While the resource pool people pull from maybe the same with regards to sprites, the ideas and vision for those resources differ!
Double Dragon is a great example of this so I have not doubts it's something special in its own right.

Would a recorded playthrough of a random level be on the cards then?

Appreciate the response, Safe

With the assistance I gotten up until now my game will just be credits!
But I will take the opportunity to learn from the Great Ones such as yourself and the others.

I would suggest you to talk with it's author first. Plus, the game uses a good amount of scripts
I think I'll stick to the wiki for now when it come to scripts, leave customs for now!
I want to see how far I can come with the basics.
I'm able to make a very basic character but levels is the one thing I can't do, I like the training room so I may contact the author then again I might give it a shot myself at level design or commission a pro.
time will tell.
thanks again

aint that great, i owe it all to them giants here in this forum...
thanks to their kindness i have become a reluctant programmer (every fiver of my consumer, rat-bastard, ex-bully, toxic self fights against nerdy stuff) that is where you might have a huge advantage, if you really like this sort if thing you will progress a lot faster.

by the way, the "rebalanced" version in the sources has a bug where the game cannot be unpacked using regular paxplode, you will need
still dont know it its enough..
23A has no such limits, but it also lacks features that rebalanced might have introduced, altho it has fixes that rebalanced lacks
