well, its time to share my "work" in progress project for 4 player Mugen, IKEMEN.
I share this information with the hope that any of you can point me in the right direction to realize this old dream game.
Back in the day, when there was more time , friends & family, Sundays where a great time.
Fighting game sessions started with super street fighter 2, then we moved to Mortal Kombat trilogy on the N64, & ended with Killer instinct Gold.
in the past 2 years i have been trying to put together these 3 games in one, & to combine the best features that they have.
Super street fighter is pretty basic & straighforward
Mortal Kombat trilogy N64 has the 3 on 3 turn based (kill one opponent the next one comes out) Kombat & unfortunately , not even the greatest Mugen mortal kombat modules feature this.
Killer instinct Gold has an even better version of this called teams/team elimination, where you can choose the entire Roster & you loose when you run out of characters to play with. Team elimination - you can only win once you knock off the stage, or do a fatality on your opponent's characters
unfortunately Mugen/Ikemen seems to lack this features, but at least IKEMEN allows online glame-play & 4 player simultaneous matches.
I managed to round up a nice super street fighter 2 turbo Roster,
but my MKtrilogy roster is incomplete
& killer Instinct 1,2/gold Rosters are broken
some MKtrilogy characters that i have a messed up "run" button & block button, that i cant seem to fix properly
Killer instinct characters have many flaws.
LEVELS - i have a collection of over 80 levels that i modified to work with wide-screen & they feature Zooming
but there are some problems:
Mugen does not do zoomdelta values well (layers don't move closer nor get far away) the zooms work in unison.
IKEMEN does have a working zoomdelta, but it works BACKWARDS & can't be fixed, because regular Delta values override the zoomdelta values.
Also these values kind of break the "mode 7 floors" because when you zoom out the front part of the sprite shrinks & distorts the effect pretty bad
NO way to do KI style Dynamic backgrounds, because the Delta tricks don't work with IKEMEN, they also do not work in wide-screen & also zoom breaks the effect.
Aside from all this, i have all kinds of characters as extras, & the game is pretty fun to play
but the game is 6.45 GB in size.
I think that sharing characters is a bit of a grey area, but if any of you are interested on my wide-screen stages let me know
most of them look pretty good, & some tricks where used to make the zooming problems less noticeable, 7 some stages are so complex that they need a bit of work to make them look better
