Hi, I'm an illustrator on deviantart and I like a lot Openbor, soon I think that in Deviantart someone will ask me commissions to do their own chars for Openbor , so they can to play with they own chars. It's possible to do it?

Sylva the Savage, it's an adult deviantart page and I make comics and now I'm very happy to know that exist the Openbor emulator and I like it so I want to use my illustrations to make some chars . I just started to draw something for openbor. I'm able to draw human anatomy http://savagesylva.deviantart.com/

Not trying to be nitpicky, but just to clarify, OpenBOR is NOT an emulator of any sort. It is a user content driven gaming engine. Very different animals.

Welcome to Chronocrash and good luck acquiring commissions.

Welcome,
Good luck.

Do you actually sprite? from scratch?
did you have already created fullset for an existing project?
Mind to show us your skills.

EDIT: Disregard the previous stuff. I saw your DA, they're good actually and I saw your posts on DA about what your intention is.

You want to make a mod.

If so, good luck with that. Again, OpenBOR is an engine, unless you want commissions to add your characters into your mod/game, then you could do so if you want, no one stops you. If you're willing to learn, start in the smallest way possible (ripping out a OpenBOR mod) or just hire someone to do it for you if you don't want to dabble upon code.

thank you, I'm creating the game Sylva the Savage. I have now the first character Sylva and done some backgrounds. can I take some existing characters from other games?

Oh, so what you mean by commissions is like what nsw said, hiring someone to make sprites for you ...

What nsw said, you could try finding freelance sprite artists online. You have to pay them of course.

For using other people's sprites, frankenspriting could be done, but I think you need permissions from sprite artists if you want to use thier work.

If you want to learn in depth of sprite making, tehre's the website 2D Will Never Die where you could learn various methods of spriting, this includes sketching your sprites on paper, which you could use your skills in drawing to create sprite art.

AND before DC would say something, PLEASE do not triple post if unnecessary. You could put all of those posts you've done on one single post. You could even edit your posts too (which you have done apparently).

We don't mind reading them all though, just keep our forums clean for your sake and mine. ;)

Ok, sorry, now I delete it
for example can I make a game with my char, some backgrounds, other enemyes downloaded from more other games and put on the credits the creators of that games? Or Can I take an existing bor game and modify it (changing some backgrounds, some chars and the graphic of the game and the story, but retaining many enemies and some things like backgrounds) ?..

thanks for the quick response . Pratically I'm creating the story, the graphic, the main player chars and the backgrounds and putting some anonymus enemyes taked from other games, like monsters . I'll ask the permission for the chars that I'll use, so I can make it correctly .
I'm creating a game  based on my comics Sylva the Savage. the game will be downoadable on my website for the readers of my comics and tell the story of Sylva , a human girl born on an alien planet 'cause her parents died in a battle against native aliens that managed to defend their planet from cruel human invaders. after 28 hears from that battle and a lot of adventures Sylva need now to escape from that planet 'cause it's invaded by other alien invaders and need to find the old human space-ship, used 28 years ago by the humans, the only ship that she can drive 'cause it's created with human technologies and use it to escape. In her adventure she wil find a lot of enemyes like monsters, aliens, robots before to find the ship. Sylva is super-strong 'cause of her wild life on the planet and for reasons explained in the comic serie
