I'm beginner of openbor modding.
I like to play old openbor mods like bor original game. So I'm trying to making openbor game like beats of rage original game.
Do you like old openbor games?

No I don't like old Bor games, OpenBor is an engine for creating almost any 2D game with your imagination and I'm tired to see old bor games. I would like to see the people making games like this

Pretty much what @danno said. I hated the original Beats of Rage. I thought it was awful in nearly every aspect and still do. Caused me to miss out on the earliest days of OpenBOR.

Clones of that are to me the equivalent of painting a sewer. Pointless and stinky. I don't expect games to break the mold, but if they don't even get you the basic mechanics of their genre? I'm out.

That's a valid point, but if you're a beginner and want to familiarize yourself with the engine, isn't it simpler to start with a beat 'em up ?

Absolutely not. Beat em up's, at least fully functional ones, are a fairly complex genre. I would go with platformers. Super simple at the core - the main thing to worry about is precision, and that will teach you the foundational basics.

Ummm....I tried to making beat em up games which player have one special moves like bor original game, but failed. Maybe I have to learn using scripts.

But you don't need scripts for making special moves like in the original BOR, as it had no script at all.
Also, scripts expands the basic functions of the engine - but you need to understand the basics first to expand them.

@danno : A test version was made for Game Boy Color, heavily inspired by Pang! (a game I loved in the arcade).
It can be difficult to ask someone new to OpenBor to create games outside the classic beat 'em up/platformer framework,
when they will already be trying to understand and and adapt to their own style in order to assimilate what is currently being created.
