HD enemies?

So I'm finally going to try my hand at making an HD mod. I can get characters and probably even stages all day, but I have no ideas whatsoever for enemy sprites.

Anybody? I was thinking of making a Vanguard Princess demo...

YES! Do it! ;D

HD mod was into my head too
I was thinking the same, with some edits of KOF XIII sprites.
I started making some edits, but stopped seeing the amount of sprite editing work. Can you imagine a mod with Kof XIII edited characters,!

About VP, it's a good base!
I partuculary like Eri and Kaede's design... ::)
The only point woud be, VP sprites are a particulary style, so it's difficult to mix it up with enemies from other games...
So the enemies will look all the same... Cute girls only. :-\
If only a game with simillar graphics exists with monsters and bigger enemies on it... ::)
I don't know about exact size, but perhaps using some blazblue characters as enemies can make it

But, again, do it, it's one more thing not yet made with openBOR. :D

(Sorry I don't find the Spoiler button)

See, that's an interesting problem as well. When the Vanguard Princess girls are resized to low-res, they mix in a little better with other characters. The smaller they are, the less detail there is; consequently, when you're dealing with HD characters, there's a higher chance of facing scrutiny from the player because of visual inconsistency. This is why I tend to stick with smaller sprites (NES, GBA, etc) in general, because you can mix and match characters from many games and it still looks consistent.

The problem is, it's a great injustice to make Vanguard Princess characters low-res. The sprites are of such great quality, it's almost a shame to "ruin" them.

resized hires to lowres sprites dont look good because your resizing algorithm is bad, you cant even see her head.
IMO most hires sprites look worse than lowres, games look like flashgames not like pixel art.
Heres 80% of smart resize in jasc animation shop followed by 60% of bicubic resize

I experimented with hd sprites but i reall ydont like thin outlines and lots of unused space where in lowres there was details everywhere but look at characters wardrobe in hd sprites, its empty kinda lazy drawn.

Eh. Even with your resize, the characters are gargantuan compared to normal low-res sprites:

Don't get me wrong, they look right, but I think I'd have an ever harder time finding matching enemies for that size than I would the standard Guilty Gear size.

that morrigan sprite is IMO one of the worst darstalkers sprites because of  black outlines, compare it to some other sf alpha sprites, also you can adjust contrast to make colours darker so they appear sharper but it actually makes the sprite looks worse

still its hires sprite, it looks empty and undetailed imo
Anyway biggest problem with hd mod for me is backgrounds.
