New Double Dragon game!?

There's still more sprites on the way.
That said, C'mon guys. The harshness is really unnecessary.
It's a budget title at a budget price. They're trying to get a following on another classic (and much loved) IP. They're successfully doing the same with the Kunio/River City games as well. Double Dragon 4 is not perfect, but without support there'll be no reason for them to bother with new ones. As for me...
For the price of one large cheeseburger, my friends and I:

1 - Had hours of fun kicking the crap out of everything that moves.
2 - Unlocked a new game mode and more playable characters for each.
3 - Beat the snot out each other in VS mode and loved it.
4 - Took a shot of Jameson whiskey every time the Hyper Knee sound played, and woke up to everyone asleep on my  living room floor.
5 -  + + + Drunkenly figured out I could easily rip every Sprite in the game, and share it here on Chronocrash for everyone else to play with.
...For the price of a cheeseburger. I regret nothing.

??? Impressive how people get offended, but never think about doing a Mod of Super/Return of Double Dragon from Snes .... have you ever researched this game? No one has ever done it until today a mod of this game... that would be really something new ...  :-X

I can understand people getting pissed off with this game, since the last good DD game was a tribute (Rage of the Dragons).

And then, Super Double Nintendo Beta happened, leaving a lot of wasted potential behind.

By MQ mod  ;)

Yes Jiam, i know this project of Mr. Q. I've been following his project since 2011, which was when I suggested this in a post and he was the only one who showed interest. After all, I think he's the only one who could do a mod of this game. He's still adding a lot in gameplay. I have high expectations about what he will do.

Avoid posting things like this. It can be sound offensive for some people, since you are looking down on ever other modder.

Nobody here is "offended". People have rights to react and don't like whatever they feel they want to. Its called opinion.

I don't take it as "harsness", really. And I think that sugar-coating things (Mary Poppins syndrome) won't help anyone.
You have your points, but I don't see a reason for White Knighting.

While those rips are cool, isn't the game..."too new" or fresh to be ripped? Won't this bring you some problem?

I agree. I did not mean to offend anyone. I just gave my honest opinion. But if someone really bothered about my comment, it's better who bothered to think why caused it.

So I got some hands on time with the game last night. Honestly this game feels like it can easily be done in OBoR, which isn't a bad thing by any stretch however that also makes it not really that special. For 7 bucks however it does give a decent amount of replay value, The tower mode was a ton of fun with the few characters I jumped in with, Playing as Abobo in story mode is hilarious and the core gameplay is very good, it feels great to play.

My complaints however is that it doesn't evolve the game play that much from what I played. For one it's missing the mounting mechanic, something that was in DD1, if it's there I dunno how to do it yet. As mentioned above I think it's very possible to recreate this game in OBoR with a little knowledge of the engine, by this I mean there isn't anything in the game that really makes it stand out from your average brawler, especially in comparison to some of the best OBoR Double Dragon mods out there.

Overall I'd say it's worth a go if you have a little pocket change and want to kill some time. Outside of that if you're looking for something revolutionary you're not going to find it here. As much crap as Double Dragon Neon got (myself included, still not fond of it's art direction) DDN is a much more complete package and it has online co-op to boot in comparison.

Yes, perhaps the best stuff with the new characters.

But I still think this mode is a kind of "artificial way" to create new feature.
Basically is some kind of survival mode. (??)

I still prefer Openbor mods based on DD  ::)

Hey, I mean if you guys don't want the rest of the sprites that's fine by me. You can rip them yourself if you like. It's very fairly easy to do honestly, and they should be on spriter's resource soon enough.
Secondly, I don't think I should really have to defend my previous statement. If you want to add labels like white knighting and such, that's your own business. I said what I said. And?
Long and short of it was simply that I myself had fun with it. Despite what we all knew were flaws to begin with. I'd like to see the developer make some money. Particularly if it includes the original creators. Especially if it leads to more games for the IP.
If you would personally rather derail the conversation by going into who is butthurt / offended / triggered about whatever, you can do so on literally any other forum on the internet. Chronocrash has a standard I respect, and I will not be engaging in that type of behavior any further than i have here.
That said, To anyone else curious about the game, I'd say give it a shot. It's true that the game really isn't for everyone. As previously stated in this thread, there really are some glaring missteps / shortcomings, But there are some good things too. You may or may not like it yourself, but form your own opinion based on what you experience. If you feel like it was good, Think about what made it stand out that way to you. Can that feeling be replicated?
If you feel like it was awful, What were it's core failings? How would you improve on them in your own projects?
For creative types, Like nearly everyone in this community, that thought process feels worth the price of admission to me.

Honestly, the game is 7 bucks. was literally announced a month before it's release and for what it's worth it's provided everything required out of a new entry in the NES trilogy. You're not losing out by the end of the day but hey vote with your wallets I guess.

btw it's absolutely mandatory that everyone play this game with abobo. :P

Mixed bag in here:
1. I loved the art in the game, but dissapointed on how took one step forward, two steps back: a few new moves and frame animations, but less moves than nes DD3, including the running animation.
2. Some new enemies are cool designed, but the karate guys are boring: post apocaliptyc martial arts and you came with some pretty normal standard kareate guys?? that doesn't feel DD to me.
3. If they added old enemies, why not add some more? why not use Jeff?

Overall I think they went with the 8bit art style because is easier to do. I really would have loved if they do a 16bit or even better, a 32 bit graphics style.
Also it's ironic that the game is with the old nes art, but it's not available on a nintendo console.
I can't play the game myself (dont have credit card for the pc version, and I dont have a ps4). But I would love to try it. I'm sure i'll have lot of fun with it.
