I just wanted to browse the newest source code and found that it's fobidden. What happened? Anything wrong?

Too many people were creating and distributing incompatible builds, then taking credit for the engine as a whole. Obviously that's a gross license violation, and jerk-off move. More importantly though it creates a huge problem for the community as a whole because OpenBOR is a user content driven application. We had the same issue years ago when I first came on board and it took a couple of years to clean up. We're not going back there.

I'll be happy to open up the source to specific individuals upon request.

I remembered that you've been doing modifications to the Android build as well and also I've used your recipe slightly when I built the android build, if that's the case, you can join the development instead of being rogue.

Are you accusing me being rogue  of OpenBOR? It is not comfortable. I really hope that you make your words clear.

Yeah that did seem to come across harsh there CRxTRDude. It's probably just a language thing.

In any case, it looks like I'm going to have to open the Sourceforge back up for anyone to use it at all. We'll just have to make sure the real version trumps the others with quality.

Damon,
I have no intention to persuade you to share the code in every way. To open or not is up to you and should be fully respected.
Browsing the source code is mine small hobby. I can live without it. Please make your decision without regarding me.
BTW, if any of my previous posts (the recipe, the Android apk) caused any trouble to the community, feel free to tell me. I am willing to comply. I really don't want to be accused or implied being in connection with any code rogue or anything similiar.

What Damon says is thanks to SF rules - You can't have a public project with restrict access.

About the "rogue", remember some people (as me) are not a native english speaker, so this kind of error can happens. I think he means like "work in the shadows", IOW to work in a new version without warning the other coders.

No worries friend, nobody thinks you are up to anything bad at all. What we were talking about are some guys who built and compiled their own OpenBOR and took credit for the whole engine.

I'm going to have to open the source up anyway because of the weird Sourceforge policy. It's all or nothing to them - controlled read access is supported by their control panel, but from what I've read from their administration they broke it on purpose to enforce a policy.

Sorry man if i'm not very clear. Never meant it to be that uncomfortable.

I didn't mean to say that you're going to steal code for your own benefit, because I know that you're doing your build on the Android just for yourself.

Heck I'm doing the same thing your doing, making my own personal builds for myself and at one point, I even used your build for the Android when I was new to OpenBOR here and made use of the same recipe you have when I started up my 'modified build' thing. You didn't do something wrong man, so kudos to that.

But just considering, if you say done something on the build that might just be great for the engine like things that I or utunnels did not address or suggestions that can help, that would be a great addition.

I've made a post regarding my modifications to the engine, just a springboard of what I'm doing so far, link at signature. If that wasn't allowed, I wouldn't have been here all the time. I'm subjected to criticisms myself.

If the SF project is up, I'm going to place my commits over there, so that the next builds can benefit from it. I hope we can work together on the Android port.

Again, my apologies if I'm not that clear on my post, I have a tendency of using words that can be misunderstood by people, and this did not happen just once :(.

i still got forbidden to see the sourceforge openbor webpage but, i not lose my svn acess from the project, even when said that was closed i still able to get source updates by tortoise svn

Well, you do need to be logged into Sourceforge, you just don't need to have special permission.

Sure, go ahead. You'll lose your write permission, but I can add that back.
