Good on them for making something, but the end result looks like... well, poo really. Reminds me of Guardians with the ugly pastel colors, bad animation and weird body proportions, but without the fun gameplay to go with it. Just my opinion.

Indeed, it seem like a good game to beat 2 or 3 times,

system limitations? it looks like it is doing some nice work in the music & sound departments,  but i wonder if more frames could have been added to the animations.

it does feel like a lot is just streets of rage re-skinned when it comes to the enemies.

backgrounds tho , they seem to do a lot of stuff.

Its is a synthwave game tho - it does  look like something we should have played back in 89 in some arcade.

Paprium has got 3 playable characters + 2 secret characters. There are some alternative paths.
Here are some gameplay videos from Sega-mag.com:

The game design is very special, I'll test one day the gameplay and let my opinion here.

This palette looks great but it might be nostalgia left from c64 and old games, gameplay looks good, whats the issue ? For me this looks very good.

I received my copy a few days ago and haven't stopped playing since. The combat is a bit shallow compared to say Streets of Rage 2 but if you enjoy the more simplistic type of games like Sonic Blast Man 2, Final Fight etc there's something here for you. That's not to say the mechanics are subtle, there are a lot of elements to them, vaulting mechanic, downward attack, blocking, a super mode which has RPG like properties, running, rolling etc etc but the mechanics don't pull together in a way that adds depth if that makes sense.

Where the game shines is the content however, there are 4 main paths which all branch into each other as well as some small branches when playing original mode. The game also dynamically changes in this mode  depending on the choices made with the characters who beat the game with 2 unlockable characters and a throne system which seats a character at the head of a certain faction, they become unplayable but offer you extra missions at the end of said path.

there's still a lot to explore in this game but I'm having a blast so far, I'm actually surprised how well the game turned out and with all the tech that went into making this happen I can see why it took so long and why there was a lot of issues, shitty PR aside.

OK i see the drama surrounding it skewed some people perceptions, but from what i see, totally disconnected from the drama over 3 years surrounding this game, i must say this game is best looking beatemup on sega megadrive.Pixel arists did great job.Color scheme is very smart, muddy tones nicely blend into magentas and greens to enhance contrast and mood.
The pricing is way off but the game is solid IMO.
I think today its quite hard to relase anything after fundraising and not cause any drama, people would want the game immediately and non stop updates, yeah 3 years is quite a bit , i suspect there wasnt many people making it.Probably 2 guys for graphics and then one person for music, one for  programming.
Anyway great to see what can be squeezed out from megadrive.

What's up with saves spawning you in completely different zones than where you last saved the game and does anyone know if you can free perps from those air handcuffs for points or maybe to use them as NPC's?

I was one of the few people that asked for a refund because I honestly never thought this game would see the light of day after all the bad rep and long long time without updates.
Luckily my friend still got his copy and we've been playing it but the manual is not really clear about some stuff like in my previous question.

Also, does anyone have any information as to what the jack slot on the cartridge is for?

Not a bad game in all fairness, but it's a bit too easy on the challenge side and it shouldn't really have taken this long to come out.

According to Gamesack it's possible to get DLC. Around 5:55.

Yeah it looks fun.  I've enjoyed the reviews. Only major downsides not enough frames of animation. And it won't get a steam port because apparently the pc can't do it justice.

Apparently you can unlock a higher difficulty when playing and that makes the ai much better.

I'd buy it on steam for a reasonable price but doesn't look like that'll happen?

Paprium is now playable on retroarch , played it and i must say gameplay is pretty solid, it is a fun game, i think it is up there with SOR.
Combat mechanics is very nice, dynamic and jut fun how it should be.

Okay so I got it but now I'm stuck in the mini game no matter what I do? Wake me up when they make a Gens version, I hate retroarch, needlessly complicated.

Edit:

I was using the wrong core :( lol

Fun game feels more like battle toads than sor though. Nice to see a game push the genny to it limits.

I gave it a try yesterday.
Visually, it's very impressive.
But there's something about the gameplay that bothered me A LOT: EVERYTHING shakes and bounces on the screen too much. It feels like they're made of rubber.

And what's worse is that many enemies, when knocked down, fall on their feet instead of on their backs. It looks really weird.
