Just been around the charts all over the web and they pretty say : sometimes the obvious thing, sometimes totally weird classification of PSX games.
Looking for different opinions here. So, which are the best 10 or 20 games any PSx/PS1 player should play... and why?

Here is my favourite 5 games.

Resident evil 3
Final fantasy 7
Tekken 3
Strider 2
Castlevania sotn

nsw25 those are great games I had no idea future cop lapd was on psx i used to play it on the pc so thanks.  I hope the psx version has 2 player split screen.

Here some ps1 games that I have to share with you

Alundra - considered as a cult classic because of the originality of the game's concept, challenging puzzles, as well as the theme revolving around dreams and nightmares that can kill people in their sleep throughout the storyline.

Legend of Dragoon - another great game for the ps1 for it's awesome dragoon transformations, special attacks, as well as a long, deep storyline revolving around the history of the land of Endiness and the aftermath of the dragon campaign 10,000 years ago. This eastern rpg is four discs long.

The Adventure of Little Ralph - an epic platformer game about a young boy who is on an quest to save his friend from a masked sorcerer. The boss characters in this game are encountered in a street fighter 2 style battle which makes it a bit unique.

I know Alundra, great game and original concept too (I mean, this psychological thing of getting into people's dreams, etc.), it reminded me of Zelda Link to the Past, though... but with more complex graphics (another good point of the game). It would have been one of my fav, but in the last part the game is very difficult.
LOD is another great game too, but has the same problem: the last part is still too difficult if compared with the rest. You should try Legend of Legaia, though the graphics is not as good as the "rivals" of the same genre, the story is beautiful and the OST is just sweet.
I don't know the other game, but maybe someday I'll try it.

Future Cop LAPD is a new discovery, I started playing by coincidence before it was posted here, I only had a demo of it but I was impressed by the gameplay, really funny, still have to finish it.
I remember the EA intro was funny for me and friends because it sounded like... "Electronicartsartsartsarts..."  ;D

Resident evil 3
Final fantasy 7
Tekken 3
Strider 2
Castlevania sotn
RE3... well, a classic!
FF7... I don't know, I always felt like Square's game hate me. Vagrant Story, for example... one of the best game I've ever seen, but how I wished it was more of an arcade game then something so technically complex.
Tekken3... another great classic.
Strider 2... gotta try it.
Castlevania... I don't know, I was terrified about the difficulty and strange gameplay of the NES version. The required timing of gameplay gives me nightmares, but the screens look fine.

One of my favorites:

The game features a vast array of characters, with over 100 recruitable characters, of which over 40 are usable in combat, and many more who move the plot forward.

Fear Effect, back when I was in my teens.

Tekken 3 - One of the greatest fighting games of all time for graphics, unlockables, volleyball-like attack (Tekken Ball) and a Beat Em Up mode called Tekken Force.

Mega Man 8 - One of the greatest platformers with some unique features.

1st 3 Crash Bandicoot games - One of the greatest sidescrollers.

Crash Team Racing - This one's got the craziest levels and weapons/items to pick from.

Armored Core.. The opening music sounds totally great. It's worth going with missions.

Rapid Reload, a sort of Gunstar Heroes for the PSX worths to try it nowadays:

Parasite Eve 1&2 (3rd Birthday is in the PSP) for a good RPG with gun shooting that deserve a remaster/remake:

Bloody Roar 1&2 (Bloody Roar 3&4 in the PS2) for a street fighting game where you can transform into a beast (Rival Schools is good also):
There are so much good game for this platform, it's very hard to choose which is the best game, there are for all tastes :)

Surprisingly, Toy Story 2 is pretty neat. The controls are actually really nice and the levels are well-done.
