Sailormoon MOTD Natsume/Banpresto Style

The style is difficult indeed, I myself tried to replicate it as well, I managed to get some good results but the process for making just one single sprite was way too time consuming to be reasonable, to be honest, replicating the way they are animated is the most difficult part, I really would like to know how they did those animations back in the day.

I tried it also because I was Remaking the Sailor V game made by kungpow, at the start I was planning to use the arcade style but I gave up on using it because of how hard was to find other games that blend well with them, so I used the snes style with improvements instead (including the enemies from the original snes games), I was planing to make this mod public but I'm not sure if the original creator would like it since I changed the game alot.

I think it is similar to how Capcom used to do it. Make a base without much detail with lineart in it.

Yes. It is time consuming. I remember my first time doing one of the most difficult sprites to work with was Mercury's crouching roundhouse based off of Cammy's. It was the first I had to not rely on frankenspriting at least 50 percent. You have to give up on frankenspriting eventually if you want to get better especially with the hands, hair, face and shoes. Over time I did get faster. Takes 2 hours for me to convert something from Variable Geo 2 when it usually took me 6 to 8 hours before for 1 sprite edit. It's really about making mistakes on purpose then doing a lot of course correcting.

Still have more work to do. Thankfully both Mugen and Ikemen coders chose a 4 button layout instead of 6. Though I am still making a complete 6 button layout for the medium attacks but for now they are low priority.

Very nice video.
Glad to finally find a use to these millions of custom sprites. ;)
I used to be worried all this work go to the bin.

Are these Mugen characters going to be released? ... One day ?
The better question would be if they'll quit or not. I've already had one mugen coder and one ikemen coder quit 2 years ago. And that's after I decided to form Sailor Stars Beyond.

Remember I don't have full control on their projects (just the sprite work) and they are not contractually obligated to release. If they are still active in the Discord then you know they will release them. And so far they've delivered more than the previous Mugen coder who worked on Sailor Mars KOF style years ago and that was a time before Sailor Stars Beyond had Twitter and Discord.

Now if ever they'll quit for whatever reason I'll probably just end up commissioning an Ikemen coder Melty Blood style.

Anyone know any free video editing software that doesn't leave a watermark?

I need it for speed draws.

I need to raise funds soon.
