Since when did Mugen allow 4on4 battles?

Those are team/co-op battles, they have been a part of mugen for a long time (maybe even the first release?). Its not truely 4 player though since only 2 human players can play on the same team or with and ai partner.
 
I mean having 4 on 4 ONSCREEN battles. 8 characters are all there at once fighting.

Ok, searched for this on Bing and "mugen 4 vs 4 patch" came up before I even typed it all. It's a 1.0 patch that allows 4 on 4 on screen fights, or 3 on 3. Both patches are in a single zip file here, you just have to start that patch files as you would with the regular Mugen exe.

Also, I found this about an hour ago, and have been playing it ever since. It's hectic as hell but fun as hell to, and like with regular Mugen, I find myself having to pick certain characters when hard A.I. show up, the difference being that I control all 4 fighters. Nice perk though, I just have to focus on the guy I want to actually fight with, and press random buttons for my partners to fight. lol

I do NOT suggest you guys to use this. Its hacked and nobody trusts it.
Plus, 2 vs 2 is already a tad broken in mugen, who knows 3vs 3 or even 4vs4 is.
 
For me, it's broken depending on the A.I., as well as 4on4(I also used this trick I heard about where you can set up a fight in watch and hold CTRL and press 1 to take control of the first fighter, very handy)

On top of that, this thing is hacked? Dahell? I can't even use OpenBORStats without cutting off Avast so it wont delete it. So, should I really take off these programs? And what exactly are the effects of these hacks?

You can actually code a 2 on 2 tag cns feature for characters. 4 on 4 also exist when you create a single character with both fighter's sprites and switch style ability. it's definitely not a piece of cake and would be considered a custom feature integration. you would also be looking at testing every avenue for bugs in the game play. but in all its possible.

No, believe me, OpenBOR has far more control of 4 players then mugen. But AI, when using P2 as a trigger an not EnemyNear, will expect some errors.

But OpenBORStats DO have a virus, as we already proven it. But the creator refuses to accept it. Its a virus which affects machines with Delphi. I managed to clean my OpenBOR Stats and now Avast won't bug me anymore. But Avast is kinda stupid, since he treats moleboxed content as virus too.

That is the question: we don't know. But I know that the comunity does gave this hack much attention.

correct that's why I stated its a custom feature built into full games. not to bash fighters into separate mugen compilations.
