Thanks.

I currently practice Shaolin Kung Fu and Sanda, which complement one another. Weapons handling is more like free-style though.

I'll try to never stop training so as to not lose my physical condition ;D But right now as I spend most of my time in front of a screen it's like a necessity to do martial arts, it does release the mental charge and exhaust the body  :P Hope I don't get any serious injury, being unable to do this would kill me  :o

Arf  :-\ I hope you'll find a stable practice that suits you and does not get you injuries. Could be an interesting process in its own way  :)

Actually one handed swords are more similar to nunchuks than bo staff to use. But there is indeed a lot of "abstraction" in the handling of the different weapons. Particularly, mastering spins with any weapon will make learning spins with a new weapon a lot easier. There is a general logic you can take advantage of, so it's kind of a waste to pratice only one weapon ;D

Three-section staff is a really cool weapon for training as it's really versatile. Some moves are like nunchuks moves, some moves are like bo staff moves, and some other like chainwhip moves.

But yes, good guess, my favorite weapons are nunchuks (though swords and three-section staff come close). Nunchuks are really good tools to unwind, especially considering they are convenient to carry.

My primary weapons are the Bo, Jo, and knives - our system focused on those because they are weapons you are most likely to have available or quickly appropriate in real world scenarios. Ex. Mop or broom handle = bo. Heavy stick, or bar = Jo. In fact my favorite hiking pole is actually a worn out Jo. As for knives - most people, at least me, always have a common utility knife on hand and those who don't can use a set of keys to similar effect.

I'm also formally trained in the proper use, care, and handling of firearms. Family owns a sporting goods shop, so that's kind of a given. I'm passable but nothing extraordinary with long guns, but am considered an excellent handgun marksman (yes, I've got a CCDW and am always packin').

I do know some basic forms with nunchuku and long blades, but nothing worth laying claim to. There is only so much training time in one day and we just didn't consider a lot of traditional weapons to be practical in the real world. Too bad, like nsw said, who doesn't want to show off a little with a bit of chukin'. :)

Hehe I use Bo-like and Jo-like weapons a lot too. I actually started to train with "makeshift" weapons (and still do when I want to train without having any proper weapon available). I don't use knives but I am actually quite skilled at using my big portal key and keyring as some kind of emei piercer, as I often play with them when walking or waiting. Mostly showy stuff but I'm sure I could use them quite efficiently if I had to. Abstracting from this use, I can't help but play around with scissors when there is one around too  :o

I don't know a thing about firearms though, would probably use a long gun as a Bo if I had to defend myself with one :P

Tell me about it !

Finally got the videos to play. OK, I've seen, set up, and even judged a lot of performances over the years, and with them a ton of music mixes in competition... but I have NEVER witnessed anyone running forms to freakin' Elvis:o

You sir, just won the internet for a day. Have a cookie.

Somehow the soul of the King made me want to fight that day ;D Your comment made my day.

Hey this are really nice, but also very useful. I've been working on getting better with animation for spriting and would like to use these to study from.
That said, do you have anything that stays on one plane? (IE: Forward, backward movement, side perspective only) I suppose i could make videos of my own, but my field is wrestling. I wouldn't do anything that really even comes close to the smoothness of what you're doing with weapons.

have you seen Elvis doing Kempo ? I think they played into his ego a bit too much by giving him the honorary belts.

:o No I didn't know that.

Still would of been cool if Elvis ended up doing a film like ''Perfect weapon'' and had become some big action star

Indeed  ;D

Thanks. I guess I could try to do videos for this, but I don't know when I'll get the time to do so.
