And you're right, not all OpenBOR games are compatible with Wii, the same goes to others like PSP or Dreamcast.
I would be shocked if SOR2X did run on the Wii. I can almost guarantee none of my personal projects will either. There are two main reasons ambitious OpenBOR games don't play nice with consoles:
First, machines haven't been hardware optimized to display sprites for several generations. Instead, they just use brute force by shoving everything into RAM. That works fine up until you hit the second issue, which is... Consoles are almost hilariously under-powered compared to PCs of the same generation. The Wii in particular has less than 100MB of memory, and a big chunk of that is inaccessible to applications. Consoles can do what they do because the software they run is written and optimized specifically for their architecture.
You can try to mitigate this by optimizing scripts, being very careful with resources, loading less at a time and so on. In fairness, @Kratus himself admits SOR2X is not very efficient at all and could use a lot of optimizing. There's only so much you can do though, and I doubt even a fully optimized version would ever run on the Wii without reducing quality and cutting content.
There's no single measurement that's going to be 100% accurate. Every application port and every hardware configuration uses and measures memory differently. Something that shows 10MB use on PC might be 6MB on a Dreamcast (just an example, not a literal ratio).
The Wii will run most of the catalog that I know of, but you'll just have to experiment to know for sure. It's pretty obvious a hugely ambitious module like SOR2X won't run while simpler stuff like BOR clones will. Modules closer to the limit (ex. World Heroes Supreme Justice) are more mercurial. Some might even run a level or two before they exceed RAM limits and shut down.

This game could be cut down to work on the wii but it would be a huge project, you would have to review everything in the game with optimizations in mind. I did it for rescue palooza and war of the gems but it was more work then i ever expected.
I've unlocked Rebellion but I still have more than half the characters locked. Does anyone have a complete save file they could share for someone who has no idea how to unlock the rest?

Hi friend. The Rebellion mode unlocks all current developed and locked characters at the same time, but in case you are mentioning the "?" icons indeed they are spaces reserved to future characters not developed yet, but planned to be added in.
I'm gradually adding the new characters in the SORX game, in which is a continuation of the SOR2X. You can see the updates in this topic.
