Franchises you wish had an openbor game

Mazinger, namely an update on the SNES Mazinger Z and Genesis Mazin Saga

Big lineup of mecha to be used as enemies or even playable characters; a playable roster could consist of:

* Mazinger Z
* Great Mazinger
* UFO Robo Grendizer
* Venus A
* Rhine X1/Danube
* Aphrodite A
* Minerva X
* Gaiking (yes)
* Jilljill

Not to mention that the controls from the original games could be updated to add features like a cancel system.

Furthermore, I already mentioned Grendizer and Gaiking for crossover potential, but Getter Robo might be nice to see too.

Xmen - They butchered this franchise.
Xmen children of the atom sprites look like the cartoon from 90s so always I been wanting more then just a fighting game.
At this point I'll make these games myself with OpenBOR
Myself I think Transformers would be awesome.
When it come to mech games then I will always go to Armored warriors/ Cyberbots.
Are there any decent sprites for Transformers?

Ghostbusters - there are so many crappy ghostbusters games out there

i would like to at least re-make the genesis game but have it feature sprites with normal proportions, maybe even ditch the movie likenesses and just flat out use the real ghostbusters character designs.

Or go the @mersox route and try to combine all of the the best elements of 2D ghostbusters games (nes, genesis, MSDOS), and use the real ghostbusters lore, music and designs as basis for the stories and levels

Something that used The Real Ghostbusters cartoon would be awesome.

I would love to see that. It would be great to have a good Ghostbusters game to get your hands on ;)

I don't think in terms of an "OpenBOR game" any more than I think of an "Unreal game" or a "Unity game", although there are certain identifying quirks you see when developers aren't careful. For instance, OpenBOR's menus and HUDs, or Unity's stuttering movement.

Otherwise games are games. I don't give two spits what they are built with so long as they're good. Ergo making something on OpenBOR just so it's on OpenBOR is pointless. I feel the idea should be to leverage the freedom OpenBOR (and lack of meddlesome shareholders) provides to do something special, not whip up some throwaway fangame shlock.

There are tons of franchises I'd like to see revisited, and started to build on over the years, so many I couldn't list them all. Problem is, I wanted them to be something special, and that takes time. It's been 10+ years of that and the whole reason I showed up was to work on my own IP. So that's where I am. Maybe I'll revisit a few someday.

Just my two coppers.

I can see that from a creative side. Meanwhile from a fan perspective I'm just like "where is my Transformers beat em up" 😆

this game and its engine could have provided at least 2 other games,
i would have them feature 4 player local with split screens at xbox 360 quality graphics
and a 4 player online/lan party mode with regular graphics

Seems like the game is waiting to be made by you lol.
I seen quite a few sprite sheets for Transformers on Spriters-resource.com and Deviant art.
Since Armored warriors exist I'm good but if I were to go the mech route it would be Gundam for sure.

Transformers is perfect for a open world game.
Flying like Project Wingman, driving like in Arkham Knight. Movement like in Prototype or Hulk on ps2. The guys who made Killzone would be perfect for it or even From soft based on their most recent work. A beat em seems to restricted.
Add flying and driving to Titanfall 2 and you got the perfect Transformers game.

Street Fighter
I wonder what type of Street Fighter game you are referring to. Something that has almost all Street Fighter characters from the main timeline or something. It would look interesting.

I always thought/dreamed about having all X-Men characters from the 90's in one game, whether it would be a Beat Em Up or a Fighting game. That would be really cool to see.

How about Zoids? Always thought these were worthy of a decent action game. There was a game many years ago on the 8-bits but it was absolute cack.

About the SF game thing, I had an idea for a company-wide Capcom crossover similar to Zvitor’s game.

capcom's universe or multiverse is massive

another franchise that i would like to see have a good game is Godzilla,
but i can't imagine how the heck to make a good videogame adaptation of it.

SNK's king of the monsters comes to mind, but everytime i tried that game, it felt Meh....

i believe its almost impossible to convey a good feeling of colossal beings with sprites, 3D polygons do better, but its mostly in games with the style of shadow of the colossus

@maxman alway a pleasure.
I'm referring to the one we never got, a beat em up lol.

I'll share the plot with regards to what I'm working on ever since I wanted a STF Alpha beat em up and a lot of what I originally envisioned for the game Capcom covered but in the Street Fighter 2 V anime from the 90s and I only saw it recently and it was awesome.

Ken is wealthy so traveling the world, level select isn't a issue. There are hints of a cool power system.
So l figure the term Warrior is used for people that can use ki like Bison's psycho power that come from within which explains the whole projectile thing in the game but a World Warrior(Ryu) summons the ki from the Earth itself.( Think of Hunter's rank system in Solo leveling)
The whole point of the tournament is to find such a person to be a host for Bison's master.
Think Orochi saga Kof 97.

Here is a vague summary of the game's plot.
So Ryu fights Ken after STF and loses, Ken leaves. Akuma shows up, Akuma dies.
Civilians get caught in a cross fire of massive Hadoukens, one name that stands out,"Haggar".
So now some of the cast of Final Fight have a reason to join in looking for Ryu who takes on the murderous intent approach but unlike Akuma Ryu's fists are rated E.
So you play as Ken or Dan on a mission to find Ryu before everyone else does.

Killed off Haggar since he isn't in the Alpha games and it serves a purpose, replaced him with Hugo.

It would be Akuma all day but Mecha-Akuma is such a rear sight so I had to include him if I'm doing this.

I might add Martial Masters characters since they similar to STF Alpha.

Credit to Siil3ntj and company for sick sprites of the original Street Fighter characters.
A Street Fighter 1 boss rush will be made after the main game.
Having Dan go through it to get to Sagat makes sense.
I can't decide if Mike should play like Dudley or Ed but thats ways off.

On to the second part.
Part 2 will be set on island where a private tournament is to held to see whose fists reign supreme.
Japanese martial arts only so the likes of Shin-Akuma or Oni,Geese,Gouken,Ryo,Kyo,Mishima will show up and it's hosted by god Rugal but the party will be crashed.
CVS 2 will be used for this.
