nsw25 I agree with you in some parts, but I disagree in others.
The parts I agree:
- The forum rules should be highlighted in the menu or on the home page (I find the idea of the menu more interesting) http://www.chronocrash.com/forum/index.php?topic=2403.0
- Some topics should simply be deleted, like the one you mentioned. But I understand that DC did not do this precisely so that people could see the threats that were being made (believe me, we get this constantly). I think differently about that.
- All offensive content must be reported. We need the help of members to keep up with this - as you have been helping us a lot. We can't see all the topics all the time, but once the content is reported, it is looked at.
The parts I don't agree with:
- Maybe it is a language barrier, but the way you wrote that "topics are manipulated" implied that the administration manipulates content, which is not true. The maximum that is done is edit to remove links to NSFW content, viruses, etc.
- "Newbies start off on the wrong foot when receiving feedback" this is not due to the fact that the rules are not in evidence, but the person's inability. There are social skills - such as common sense and education - that need to exist in the person, regardless of the forum rules. If the person does not have this, it is not we who will teach him. After all, we are all adults and we should act like adults - or at least that's what is expected.
The administration has the rule of not advertising when a user is banned (and I understand that it really is a matter that concerns only the person and the administration). In regards to
Davpreec , I asked
Damon Caskey to explain what happened. But, as a rule, we don't do this to avoid starting heated discussions - and the topics are not deleted, they are moved to an administrative area.
We are not in the habit of banishing anyone without a very strong reason. And, usually, this is preceded by warnings and other measures, so that the person can redeem himself.
There were cases where people were banned and later forgiven, given a second chance and allowed to return. Some people choose the right path, but others do not. In that case, there is no third chance.
Our ultimate goal is to maintain a healthy community, where people can exchange information and help each other. And that unfortunately includes removing some bad apples so as not to harm good apples.
