Hello,
I would like to have your suggestions about how I can capture video and sound from my PC.

I would like it to be able to capture :

-from any software like photoshop or web browser
-sound from the computer as well, software of web browser... (NOT a voice comment from microphone)

I tried VLC capture = no sound
Cam studio = same
Windows10 gaming capture = it seems to capture only games.

Thanks for any suggestion of possible simple free software that is not an enormous one and can capture sound of PC as well.

nedflandeurse,

Windows game capture will work on any application. Just Press Window + G when your target app has focus and when it asks you if this is a game, say yes. You can then capture video and audio no problem. It's how I do all of my own screen caps.

My only issue with windows game capture I've come across is if an app has multiple pop up windows which doesn't seem to get recorded like OpenBr Editor for example

In that case I use Flashback Express, It's free too,

Difficult to set up at first because there are many options but after initial set up it works well.

Thanks for your suggestions guys.
I will try both of them and see what is better for me.

Thanks, buddy, I will try this one !

I thought it was a streaming oriented software since many streamers talk about it.

In Windows, Most of time I simply use Bandicam, but its paid. OBS has the benefit of being free.
You can use it for recording too, not only streaming.

I’ve bounced around a few screen recorders and totally get the struggle with getting the actual system audio and not just mic noise. OBS works, but honestly it feels like overkill if you just want to record quick clips or software demos since there are too many settings for my taste. Also, I’ve had trouble with audio sources not showing up unless you mess with virtual cables and stuff.

After some trial and error, I ended up using movavi on my PC for capturing both screen and system sound without headaches. The setup is simple and it exports fast, so it’s become my go-to for recording tutorials. Might be worth checking out if you want something less complicated.

Unfortunately, that begs the question "what else"? There are certainly simpler recorders out there, but to my knowledge, you're trading away quality or getting ugly water marks slapped all over your videos.

There's still the Windows Game Bar, which works fine for single-app capture, but as @danno said it won't handle edge cases. From personal experience, professional tools are even worse. I have access to the full Adobe Creative Suite and Captivate, ostensibly the best there is outside a dedicated commercial studio. Great for editing, but I have found when it comes to production and capture the complexity far exceeds OBS for results that are parity at best.

I can't tell anyone what to do, but IMO, you'll spend far more time shopping than you would just buckling down and setting up an OBS workflow. If someone has a better idea, I'd be all ears.
