In Progress Creating a TMNT mod suggestions comments ideas?

The project is currently under development.
That's probably too difficult.  I can think of tons of moves I'd like to have, but there's only so much I can do editing sprites.  :-[

What I mean is I'm still looking at the existing sprites and working out what's actually feasible to make with them.

Was playing the mod a bit today, the turtles are fairly complete for the basics.  Just need a few more minor attacks so the combos to look/feel better.

Thanks O!

So I'm getting the hang of spriter, but I'm still unsure what moves I should I try and make.  ???

Here's a screen I meant to post months ago,

tmnt_0052.png

(WIP)
- new/unique stances for turtles
- new faces for each turtle (mikey shown in screen)
- weapon equipped/unequipped sprites
- footclan coding and sprite tweaking

- alternate weapon and unarmed modes
so far I already gave DON the ability to enable the blade on his bo like he can in the new series.

Wow, this is pretty cool!

Awesome screen BeasTie!
Anyway, enemies seems a little pixelated with this scalling method.
(I might be wrong)

I really would like to play such a game with these badass turtles sprites! 8)

Yep they're scaled up with drawmethod.  These enemies are being replaced, left over from older version of the mod.

Because it's coming...

Just some screens to show the alternate headbands finally.  Didn't show Raph and Leo because their palette needs an update for the changes I made to profile pics. You can choose the covered head style or original headbands, of course choice of colours.  Armbands will also be selectable with colours because of the smartpal.  I just haven''t made all the alt palettes yet ;)

If anyone is interested to make their own palettes, I'm happy to add them into the mod :)
Let me know if you're interested and I'll post what you'll need.

- BTW Smartpal sheets will be made public available after release of the mod for everyone to use ;)

Ugh I really did slack off on this project for a bit... so many edits to finish lol

I realize now when I lost the motivation... Blame Michael Bay!!!  >:(

Wasn't really expecting much from that movie, but I regret watching it.... *groan* *sigh*
I think it murdered my inner child.  lol

That is pretty cool! I don't like the most recent version of the bandanas (I don't like the recent serie either) but its cool that you let people choose which one they want to.

So are you back to the business? :)

To revive your inner child I would suggest to buy the Original Turtle Movies I & II they are out on Blueray, I did that Yesterday and I had a lot of Fun with it.^^

I'm always tinkering and tweaking, but yeah I'm back to business.    Because I'm usually only working part time or under contract,  I get used to having long periods where I get to work on my mods everyday.  I just don't get as much done when I'm in my busy work periods or having to worry about other things going on.

Also I lost about 2days work when the old PC died, never managed to recover it.  So there's a few things I had already done, like tweaking all the turtle palettes.  So I have do bunch of stuff again  >:( (main reason for laziness)

Going to start focusing on making some proper levels and adding more to the turtles (proper slams, specials, voice etc.) Need to finish ripping some enemies still

Sadly I'm removing a lot more content than I'm adding at the moment.  But certain things need to go. :(

Nice work with CS palettes.
I'm more into the classic look of turtles.
But giving more options is welcome!!

Don't see it to negativ, there is always content that is a cool idea at the beginning but simply don't work for some reason in the end and have to go.

It's a normal development process, see it as an opportunity to make more experience in game making, that will be helpfull in future projects.

Yeah I don't really mind, but some enemies I haven't found suitable replacements for them yet.

Yeah same, it was just an option I added because it was easy to do the colour separation. Once I decided to do the shells (which was tough) I ended up doing everything else.  Pretty sure I even did the palette so you can add pupils if you wanted.  I wasn't even going to have different coloured headbands, but I thought I'd get angry posts if I didn't lol.

Palettes aren't final, but these are basically the default palettes.

If you like you can show us for which enemies you need replacements, maybe we can find something you can use.

There was just certain ones I liked because they looked very similar to the original enemy sprites in the DOS game.  Or they looked like the typical gang members from 80s films :p  Like jack from SOR, mohawk boss from Crime Fighters etc.

Would be good to get some like those is all.

Teenage%20Mutant%20Ninja%20Turtles%20-%20Manhattan%20Missions_3.png

Any 80s punk/criminal looking chars.  leather jackets, denims, mohawks etc. That fight with baseball bats, knives, chains, guns etc.  Also generic kungfu enemies will help too.  I've seriously gone though every single sheet on the usual sites, most of the stuff I want isn't ripped from MAME yet.  So I have to rip most of the stuff I need myself.  All that stuff you ripped has really helped ;)

I will be using some scaled down sprites like this (forget the game they're from), instead of final fight ones etc.

And the burning fight enemies.

(hmm punker might need to be a bit larger)

I still have to change palettes to fit the game.

You can see there is still a bit of size issues, but I'm over caring about it.  It all looks pretty decent in game.  And you won't see a lot of them on screen at once like this.  Turtles are meant to appear short, they're only supposed to be 5'2" tall. (do some research Michael Bay!!)

I can rotsprite some stuff to tweak the sizes, but the quality lost almost isn't worth it in the long run.

Footclan will make up most of the games enemies.  The gangs are just for the earlier missions really.  So I'm skipping it for now and working on first encounters with footclan and adding Shredder in game. The game isn't linear so it doesn't really cause a problem.

The work keeps piling on for this.  But it was always intended as a long term project.

How about Female enemys? Because I remembered Juri from Galaxy Fight.

I know she is to big but maybe with some downscaling it would work, she has mostly normal movements so it would not be to hard to edit here a little bit to add a weapon if you think that it is necessary.

I'm not sure about generic kungfu enemies, but I know some Karate enemies.
Because I don't know if it is even possible to be more generic as this 3 guys from The Punisher.  :o

Na just keep him smal und make him a little bit faster as the normal gang members, many games have this little annoying enemys that run or jump around or a just fast and harder to hit.^^

Hum, the punk needs to be taller, he looks like a child next to the others.
And hey, if you have free time, our game needs a hand too :)

Cool np, I meant to message you and ask if you back to work on avengers, or if you just wanted more sprites aligned etc.

I think I showed the wrong punk, I tried a few different sizes, I think this was 60pct reduction.

Someone over at mugenguild did some edits of the tournament fighter sprites and shared them so I'll post here for you guys to look through and see if any can be used for your mod credit goes to aperson98 at mugenguild hope these help

Another thing they're color separated but the top of the head isn't so you would have to edit any you use to fit your palette beastie

Cool stuff, thanks for the heads up, I just downloaded it.  8)

The win poses are really nice and other customs.  Some of the other edits, like new attacks are similar to what I made already.  But some of these other customs, like portraits I couldn't make myself.  These are great!
Some other sprites I'm not sure what's changed.

For sure I will credit him, even sprite rippers are credited in my mods.

It will be a big job to replace all the sprites.. AGAIN.  But probably worth it just for the extended animations, I'll have to do some tests.
