Complete Crime Busters Update

Bloodbane, are you an alien or what ? How can you defeat all these baddies ????

I run most of the time :D

Seriously, despite character's walking speed, I usually run so I can get close to any walking enemies quick enough.

I also do counter attacks alot especially on bosses. Many enemies and bosses are designed to be defeated by counter attack so you have to read their attack and counter with proper attack.

For instance, Bruno (3rd stage boss) is tough, if you punch him, he'll endure it allowing him to smash you. To defeat him, I usually wait for him to charge at me. I use different counter attack strategy for each character:
Bao: Jump on Bruno and catch him with Air Pressure
Kula: Perform Ice Statue to freeze Bruno. I usually perform stomp move afterwards
Athena: Perform Psycho Shield to knock Bruno away
Ralf: Jump to avoid Bruno and dive towards Bruno. After Bruno is launched, I grab him mid air with Napalm Stretch
Maxima: Just block and after Bruno passes, grab him and slam him

Oh yes, I also dodge alot during counter attack especially with fast but weak chars like Kula and Bao.
 
i beat the game with ralf on normal two things really helped when you run if you press special just as your in range of enemy you will preform a grab that covers quite some distance and knocks down enemys in the way and F+S cuts a bit of your life but the damage is heavy also D,U+S another heavy hitting move if its fully charged.

but to be fair i think there was a bug with the credits if i did not press continue right away i would get game over i used lots of continues they never seemed to run out ;D I got the good and bad ending must have been another bug ?

still this is my favourite mod over nightslashers x

Well, after some days in the fields with no computer, I came back and just finished the game (with Bao). It's an amazing baby you gave birth to, Bloodbane :) It doesn't have a tenth of the fame it deserves !

Same for me.  Since the game is so hard, I don't think you need to solve this bug  ;)

Me too, but not exactly : I got the bad ending (couldn't beat the boss on time on the boat), then I reloaded and didn't have to fight the boss again but got directly the scene as if I had beaten him and could play on.

I'd agree with you if :
  • the game wasn't so hard
  • there would be the same strict saving system (4 -or 6, or 9- credits and no more, credits saved when you quit the game). This is still IMHO the best way to force players to play well :)

@Bloodbane : Congrats again for this jewel ! I remember the review I made of Nighslashers X on lavalit and your reply where you said you didn't like it so much because all of the baddies and bosses could be beaten with the same technique. When I see your mod, I understand fully what you mean :)  I have some remarks if you don't mind :
  • Besides the saving system, there's a nice feature in Nightslashers that wasn't in your mod : combos that end up differently wether you press U, D, F or nothing during the A-button mashing. Will you put this in your D&D mod with Count ? I love this feature because it gives the possibility to choose how you will end your combo after you started it, depending on what the other baddies are doing while you're punching.
  • There are lots of undocumented moves, some of them are easy to discover but I made other without really understanding how I made them (because of the non-stop furious action ;D), especially when rising up after falling on the ground : sometimes I was able to make Bao get up as an energy ball (same as the Run+A ball), but how ???? Would you mind documenting all of them ?
  • Congrats on the story : it's straight forward and funny. I laughed when I saw that, after beating everybody, Bane still had a "secretary" ;D. I thought she was making a joke when she said Bane's on the 1st floor and the heroes looked ridiculous for believing her so easily. I thought she was Bane herself but no :) Another nice touch for your mod.
  • In the "good ending" scene, after beating Bane, someone say "we wouldn't be here if we weren't successful by chasing the truck". Guess this means I have to start the game again to see what difference there is if i'm unsuccessful chasing the truck  ::) Well, I'll try with Ralf and Malik's advice, but some other day  :P

@everybody : if you didn't play this mod, you missed a piece of OpenBor history !

Oh oh... Malik, ready to work again ? I just tried the extra mode and engine crashes at level 6 stage 3...
There are even new enemies (well, old enemies with grenade-throwing capability  :o, hard...) in the extra mode ! Man, this is a mod you wanna stick on ;)
EDIT : and party stage at the (first ?) "crush the enemy" stage.
 
Thanks fredo! your reaction is similar to mine when I played Streets of Rage 3 for 1st time. I dislike it at 1st because of difficulty but after getting the hang of that game, I love that game.

Currently, Jarred is the only one capable of this. Strongheart and Tel'Erond don't have extra sprites for these. I'm going to add this feature to other chars.

That's a bug. For some reason running status is not canceled after falling allowing characters to perform running attack right after rising

Well, they never asked where Bane would be in 1st place and they ended up going to wrong room :D.

Yep, 4 endings. 1 bad ending, 2 good endings and 1 not so good ending

malik, thanks for updating the Crime Buster mod. fredo46, thanks for reporting the bugs and problems for the game so he would fix them up. I am still waiting for Crime Buster to be completely updated and finished. Bloodbane, I forgot what last version of the engine you used for your 2.5 version after I downloaded it long time ago in Lavalit.

LOL I was not talking to you, fredo. I was talking to Bloodbane because there was a build version he had along with the mod long time ago when you were not in Lavalit and I forgot what number of version 2 it was. It was like 4 or 5 years. I had been a lurker for 5 months after I registered at Lavalit till I first started posting.
 
i tested today crimebuster from this link in the 4077 build and game crashes after beat the  gate in the first stage

has anyone updated it again?

i think some games like crime buster, jennifer, nighslashers and other top rated ones need always being update to assure compatibility because they are reference to show the real powers of the engine :)
 
I don't know if there were other incompatibility issues but there's indeed a bug with the gate. I have a fix for this if anyone is interested :)
 
I up this thread because I noted that Kula's grabbackward throws the ennemy through the wall. I don't know if another chars have this kind of issue but I find the solution by correcting the two antiwall lines this way :

Are there some known bugs ? If so, what ?
Anyway, meanwhile I checked the another slams et throws of the playable chars and nothing's wrong against a wall.
 
Known bugs are the wall at the start of the game i think i just took it out and the ending bug (if you dont beat mr big in time you get game over but if you continue you still get to see the ending)
 
Hi :)
I have try this game with a more recent engine, the 6315 that work on PI and i have a little bug.
All the game is working perfectly, no crash no glitch, only the "action zone" of the character (i think) who is green :(
You can play but it's not really beautiful lol
How can we hide this green zone please ?
I have try with original version, 2013 update and 2017 4 player update, all have this bug ...
