Double Dragon Gaiden Input Issues.

I recently downloaded Double Dragon Gaiden, which is a great game all the way. But it seems to have an issue where certain inputs suddenly won't work with no rhyme, nor reason. Depending on who I use, I often can't use the hurricane kick (unless I'm carrying a weapon), the special attacks, and sometimes the stomp too. The game also seems to sometimes crash when I use the block button it seems. That and occasionally can't pick certain characters at some point(s) in the game for that matter either. Anyone else experience such issues with this game, and if there's any fixes, and/or what I need to do in order to be able to use the moves all the time. Thanks in advance for any possible help anybody on here can hopefully offer. :)

Welcome, and let me know how it goes too. Like I said, it's fully playable, save for not being able to do random inputs for certain characters, which varies at the start of the game, with no rhyme nor reason. Hopefully a fix for this (if there's one) will be found before long. Also when you have time to play Revenge Mode in full, stick to stomp attacks on the last set of clone enemies you fight just before the final boss. If you try to hit them with frontal attacks, the game will crash, and will have to start that part of the level over until you get it right also.

But it is weird how random inputs will, and won't work whenever I start the game, which is always different for whatever strange reason(s) every time I do so too. I know funny issues such as this aren't exactly an uncommon occurrence with Beats Of Rage/OpenBOR games, but still. I'm always able to use the basic stuff such as attack, jump, and block with anyone, but is hit or miss with the hurricane kicks (which I CAN at least always use if the character I'm currently using is holding a weapon, whether he can, or can't without one), along with the special, and stomp attacks. What I'm doing for now until a fix of sorts can (hopefully) be found is I'll see which moves DO work for certain characters when I begin playing, and decide if I want to be able to use those ones, or try again, to see who gets to use at least most, if not all of his. Typically I decide that I'm good to go when Blade can do everything he can, who is the game's best character. If he's all right, I'll usually leave it up to chance to see who else is intact with his repertoire. Funny how I just discovered that Billy DOES also have a special attack in the game, which worked for the very first time when I played it with my brother last night too! (L.O.L.!)

Best thing to do is tag @Hanzo and maybe he knows something. This is a very old module and engine version. It may not be anything we can fix unless @Hanzo decides to update.

Actually, Gabo-Hanzo made the module DC. Wish I said something yesterday was really busy with work. Gabo-Hanzo is the author of the module so hopefully he might answer your question thewildace

Yeah, got your PM about that. I mixed you and him up big time. Sorry about that. Gabo-hanzo doesn't have an account here at all I can find, so he must have been inactive for quite some time. @thewildace and @FabFred, sorry guys, you must just be out of luck unless someone randomly decides to update those modules. Or... you could always open them up and take a crack at it yourselves. :)

Cool, thanks, and it's all good. But at least I do have a (mostly) fully playable version of this game now, and is better than nothing. For the record, I also DO have Double Dragon Gaiden on my modded 2TB Xbox as well. Haven't played that version in a while, but do believe the moves DID work in it. I'll have to check it out again soon for the heck of it. Only problem was that it also crashed/shut down after Mission 9, which I believe others on here have previously reported with that edition of the game too.

Well I have a quick update, and for the heck of it, tried the version of the game which I have installed on my modded original 2TB Xbox console once again. I can confirm that all of the moves/inputs WERE doable on that edition with no problems at all as I thought was the case. But like I said, it crashes after I finish the 9th mission, thus is virtually useless. Still hoping a fix of sorts can be found, and/or that there's a fully playable version of this game out there somewhere, which someone can find someway, somehow. I'll see what, if anything else I can come up with myself in the meantime too.

I had a play of this myself and I checked all the files in data and can't see any problems, I'm getting no crash after stage 9, The original xbox only has 64mb so maybe it has something to do with that or the version of openbor your xbox is using. I'll tag @gabo-hanzo anyways.

Well that version installed on my original Xbox console I'm not really concerned about, but rather the one I downloaded on my PC, which IS mostly fully playable (without the crash after Mission 9), but still can't get most of the inputs for certain characters to work at a time. It's always random of which ones will, but won't work whenever I start up the game. That and how it crashes if a Lee clone blocks a frontal attack on Stage 12, just before you fight the final boss on Stage 13 of Revenge Mode. Check this particular link here at DDG_OPENBOR in order to test the game out yourself, to see, and hopefully figure out what I mean by that too.

I downloaded the pak, and added it to the Double Dragon Gaiden build I previously downloaded, which I posted the link to in this thread. But it comes up in a very small screen, and is there something else I should add, or put it on instead? The inputs still seem to have trouble with working with it too.

The small screen is the standard resolution, you can change this in options/video display mode full.
I can activate the specials in all weapon models is it's that you wish (they are simply not declared when the player wears a weapon) .
