Double Dragon Zeebo

Only thing is, the android/ios has a feature that once you beat the game you can play as any character. I'm not sure if the zeebo version has this option?

Good news everybody, Double Dragon Zeebo finally emulated, you can get infuse emulator and play the game if you missed out before. Good luck, may the odds ever be in your favour!

To be honest, I'm really shocked the Zeebo lasted as long as it did. Just way, WAY too niche. In fairness, I don't know the specifics of the Brazilian and Mexican markets, but from up here, it made no sense what-so-ever. Back in 2008 the iPhone was just hitting its stride, mobile Android was on its way, and companies were pretty much giving them away to achieve market saturation.

I remeber wondering who in the world is going to buy a gimped console for 200USD when you can get a mobile device for less money that does everything a Zeebo can and more? Maybe someone more versed in the target markets like @O Ilusionista could explain?

Cool someone got it emulated though.

I second this. IDK what was all the fuss at the time, I always thought about DDAdvance being superior to this game, but nevertheless, it's a great time for emulation 👾

After so many years, I'm revisiting this game again. At the time, a friend from work was the only person I knew who had a Zeebo, and one of the games he had was Double Dragon.

I remember that, at the time, I really enjoyed playing the game and I said several times on servers/chats that it was one of the best versions of Double Dragon, but there were people who didn't believe it...

Now, thanks to the emulator, I was able to revisit this game and show that I wasn't crazy: It's one of the best versions of this game :)

I didn't even want to practice before recording - I just ran the app and started recording, so it might take me a while to remember the moves, but I managed to finish the game :)

The animations looks cool because the company who made this game were formed by former SNK staff. And you can see it on some animations, like on the girl with the sword.

I have to disagree here :) The animations on this game were far better than the DDA, by a mile.
Compare the whip animation, for example - the DDA version just reuse the same original animation, after so many years.

And it has some unique bosses and stages. The only thing where DDA is the music, because the game uses MIDI music

Take a look and compare both

The only thing I don't like on this version too much is the amount of time you got stun after a hit

The Brazilian market is a separate market, it is a very different reality. It certainly wasn't a very powerful device and was already outdated, but it still had a certain audience because of the price.

It's worth remembering that, at that time, we had 150 million cell phones in Brazil, while we had 192.7 million people here. There were families (and still exist) who do not have computers at home, only cell phones. And that was the target audience, in a way.

For example, any Apple device is incredibly more expensive here, thanks to the import tax, which can reach up to 92% of the original price + other things.

This is the price of the iPhone 13 on Apple's American website: $599
This is the price of the same device on Apple's Brazilian website: $1,068

In some cases, it is cheaper to go to the USA, buy the device and come back, than to buy it here - as you don't pay import tax if it is something for personal use.

Taxes greatly increase the cost of producing here, so the Zeebo ended up leaving the factory more expensive than it should have been.

Another interesting fact: The Master System is STILL sold here

Yes, it's a matter of taste and it's all good, I will always prefer the more traditional look over others, i'm an old dude that's probably why lol, I never liked fighting game stances in beat'em ups, that's all.

Cool console tho, here in South America you can catch all sorts of gadjets like these, it's like an entire lost dimension.
